  1. Except technically the bullpen has been participating in this game since the 5th. Sorry, I should have specified "in the ninth".
  2. Pathetic. This whole team is pathetic. Bullpen outside of Henderson is trash. All our hitters are swinging at pitches out of the plate. Useless. Roenicke needs to be gone. I've seen enough. This team has quit, and in the games when we are magically in it, his clown car management style blows those, too.
  3. I was thinking pretty much the same thing. Brewers striking out at an alarming rate. Let's try for K #14.
  4. How many runs do we need to score here to feel safe with Axford or K Rod pitching in the 10th?
  5. Struck out the side. Too bad we didn't use him last night when, you know, that would have won us the game.
  6. Ok Weeks got a double. Come on Luc. Drive him home so Axford can come in and blow it again in the ninth.
  7. Astros, who were 36-77, and 3-24 since the All Star break, one of the worst teams in baseball history, haven't won a home series since May 21-23rd. If the Brewers don't score in this next inning, they will be guaranteed a series win at home. This is how bad it's gotten. The Astros have a .111 winning percentage in the second half, yet they are about to take the first two from the Crew. This is a AAA team.
  8. Nice job, Roenicke. Everybody in the ballpark, and the announcers, knew that squeeze was coming. "When you do it all the time, you lose any element of surprise you might have". No kidding. Way to blow a chance at a run.
  9. Hell of a pitching performance tonight, Michael. /clap Let's keep the shutout.
  10. What the heck is wrong with Ryan Braun? 0 for his last 13 now. If those blisters are bothering him, take him out, and lat him heal up for God's sake.
  11. Ruth's called shots was one of the first things I thought of, derflotr. PBIB, I really like that. If I ever find a time machine, you get it first. Just please bring it back
  12. Ok guys, I've already asked what your fondest memories are from Brewer games you've attended in the past. You have all seen some incredible things, and quite honestly, I'm jealous. I wish I could have seen even a few of them in person. And I wish I could have seen them with you guys. As I become more and more comfortable with the forum, and as I get to know some of you beyond your nicknames, I can only imagine how much fun it would have been to share these memories with you. Brewer fans are some of the most loyal, and passionate fans in sports, and that support has never really wavered through a lot of lean years. It's funny when you look at something like that....you remember just how many great things have happened to our team, even though it has never won the World Series. Now I'd like to propose a new discussion, similar to the other one. This one will take some creativity, and a suspension of reality for a minute. You have discovered a time machine. It can be a DeLorean if you're a sci-fi/movie freak like me ...or it can be something else. But with this time machine, you are allowed to make two trips back in time to watch baseball. You can go back and watch a game that you missed. Say you had tickets to a game, and you couldn't go because you got sick...or because your wife went into labor that night (a great night, no doubt, but if something historic happened, and you missed it, what would you give to go back and watch that game in person?) Two rules. On one occasion when you go back in time, it must be to create a Milwaukee baseball memory. Now of course, that doesn't have to be the Brewers. The Braves had some great history, and incredible players. You could choose a game from the 1957 series against the Yankees. Or, perhaps you'd like to catch a Warren Spahn no hitter. Joe Adcock's 4 home run game in 1954? The choice is yours. Maybe you were too young to remember the Crew playing the Cardinals in the 1982 World Series, and you've always wished you could see some of it in person. How about game 1? Brewers 10-0, Yount and Molitor combined for 9 hits in the opener! The second trip back in time can be to witness any baseball game of your choosing, and there's no limit how far back you can go. Want to see the Georgia Peach? How about checking out Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig? Or perhaps Ted Williams and the Sawx against Joe DiMaggio and the Yankees in 1941 is your thing. Don Larsen's perfect game in the 1956 World Series? Bobby Thompson and "the Giants win the pennant". See Clemente jumping up and down at home plate after the Pirates beat the heavily favored Yankees on Bill Mazerowski's walk off series winner. See the "Say Hey kid" make his famous over the shoulder catch in glorious color. Maybe you want to catch Kirk Gibson's improbable pinch hit home run off of Dennis Eckersley in the '88 fall classic, and cheer as he limps around the bases. You are limited only by your imagination. So, what would you choose, everybody? And why?
  13. I'd forgotten about that cover. Well, then I was wrong twice this morning (strike two. I better go to bed before the ump calls me out!) HiAndTight has a point then. I still think that ESPN really amped up the Harper hype, but it appears my recollection was wrong about when it indeed started.
  14. Ok, that makes more sense. You're saying that the few wouldn't vote for him as a former player in the Japanese leagues no matter how well he performed, but with a superior season, the remainder of the voters would in essence vote together, and nullify the other's votes. I apologize, I just needed some clarification. Vicodin + lack of sleep makes me a tad dense at times Nomo had a great season, there's no denying it. And you're right. Even though he finished 4th in the Cy Young, I do think he would have won it if it were not for Maddux. Pete Schourek was hardly a household name, and Glavine had a good season, but not a dominant one. Nomo's K's and ERA were vastly superior to both, and he had the best WHIP of the three (though that wasn't used as a metric back then, at least I don't remember it that long ago). http://www.baseball-reference.com/awards/awards_1995.shtml#NLcya
  15. Let me get some further clarification, endaround. Are you saying they won't vote for him because he is Japanese, or because he previously played in Japan? And if they won't vote for somebody that has previously played in Japan, the level of their play here shouldn't matter. If they play at an MVP level, they would still not be eligible for the ROY.
  16. Hideo Nomo had an MVP-type season when he won the ROY? 13-6 is an MVP type season? Show me a link to one single baseball writer who has gone on the record saying "I won't include a japanese player on my ballot for a major award." Please.
