  1. I don't think I'm overreacting at all. Thornburg was pitching at AA yesterday, and tonight he's facing one of the toughest lineups in the majors. We got 5 great innings out of him. Asking him to go through that lineup a third time was asking for trouble, and that's what we got. Thornburg will be a great pitcher for us, but we were expecting too much for a guy that's pitched 10 games in AA to come in and pitch six or more innings at the Major League level.
  2. We couldn't have predicted the struggles with K Rod and Axford, but the rest of the bullpen leaves a lot to be desired. I know Saito has been injured, and I don't think he's pitched yet this season, but I'd have kept him in house for this season. As far as Loe, I think he could be decent, but he's inconsistent. The rest? Terrible.
  3. Wow, mocking someone with a severe brain injury? Where is a moderator when you need one? I'm sorry, you're right. That was in poor taste. I'll edit it myself.
  4. He should have been pulled after 5 innings. Asking the kid to go from AA to MLB, facing one of the better offenses in the majors, and going through the lineup three times, was too much. But Roenicke would rather "save his bullpen", and make the kid labor through another inning. Result? Three home runs in a row, and now we're behind because of our idiot manager.
  5. Anybody with half a brain would think "hmm, 23 year old making his first MLB appearance. 70 + pitches already, back to back home runs, and a big masher coming up. Let's pull him. He's done well, kept us in the game". But noooooooooooooooooooooooo, not the sloth Ron Roenicke. His brain operates on "slow".
  6. After back to back home runs, Thornburg should have never been in to pitch to Encarnacion. But our manager is a mental midget.
  7. Roenicke, you ***** idiot. Good job leaving him in. Back to back to back home runs.
  8. Now Roenicke will dick around and keep Thornburg in too long.
  9. I'm not worried. Tyler Thornburg is going to be a great pitcher. Kid needs a little more time. Picked up my first Thornburg rookie auto two weeks ago: http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/2579/thornburg1.png Figures it would be Lawrie that first goes yard on him.
  10. Also noteworthy, Evan Longoria pulled himself out of a rehab game yesterday, after feeling tightness in the hamstring that was surgically repaired. Rehab activities have been "halted indefinitely" according to MLB Network. That's too bad. He's one of my favorite MLB players (plus he's my fantasy team's starting third baseman). Hope he gets well soon.
  11. MLB Network tonight said that Dickey is the first person in major league history to throw back to back complete games one hitters without an earned run, and ten or more strikeouts. Wow!
  12. Ryan Braun has inside jokes with people he's never met. His home run balls throw themselves out of the stands, hoping he will hit them again. His charm is so contagious, vaccines have been created for it. Mosquitoes don't bother him, purely out of respect. Every time he goes for a swim, dolphins appear. If you ever found the end of the rainbow, Ryan Braun would be there with a pot of gold. When it rains in Milwaukee, it is because Ryan Braun is thinking about something sad. God created the heavens in six days. Ryan Braun would have done it in five. He lives vicariously through himself. He is the most interesting man in the world.
  13. Some of our bats are starting to wake up....Morgan, Weeks, A Ram. If the bullpen can solidify, we can get back to .500. Come on, Ax!!!!!! Slam the door shut.
  14. Let's get some more runs, AXford is going to be coming in.
  15. Thank you, A Ram! Now that we have a lead again, which bullpen guy is going to blow it this time? K Rod? The Ax Man? Vote now!
  16. I saw that. Maybe, or maybe he's winking at the third base coach, or some hot chick in the stands. Life is good for #8.
  17. Vuke had a 2.5 WAR when he won it. The same season, Dave Stieb's WAR was 7.3. 17-14, 3.25 ERA, 141 K to 75 BB, a 1.20 WHIP. Still not great. There's no really great pitching performances in 1982, at least in the American League. Baseball writers can whine about Vuke getting it. I would ask, who deserved it then? Jim Palmer, the runner up? 15-5, 3.13 ERA, 103 K, a 1.137 WHIP. Is that a Cy Young season?
  18. Sure I can. If the vets are underperforming, it's the manager's job to get them motivated. A good manager inspires his team. A bad one sits there blowing sunshine up everybody's behind. I can also lay dumb decisions at his feet. And he's made plenty. Mismanagement of the bullpen, for one. Taking Parra out in game #2 because he'd "done his job" is ridiculous. From JSOnline blog June 13th: http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/159000895.html#!page=2&pageSize=10&sort=newestfirst He got through the inning with 9 pitches. No reason to use an extra pitcher when you've got a guy that's throwing well. Parra is a big boy. He's capable of throwing two innings. But genius Ron pulls him 'cause he's got other guys in the pen. And the injury excuse only works so much. When we didn't have the injuries, we weren't performing well, either. This team is underachieving, and horribly mismanaged. Period.
  19. Good God, I've never really looked at Vuke's Cy Young season. His WHIP was 1.502, and his K:BB ratio was awful. 105 K, 102 BB. Really? That's a Cy Young winner? A 3.34 ERA's not bad, but he won it because of his W-L. He won 18 games because of the bats.
  20. This ^^^. Ron Roenicke couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper bag. I'll leave it at that.
  21. Apparently the Roenicke tongue lashing last night didn't do any good. The bullpen still sucks. This team is a complete joke. I'm going to throw up.
