  1. I would. Look, he’s had a poor second half. but this team doesn’t have the resources to sell off the few blue chip players they do have, and if Burnes is dealt, you know it’s going to be for prospects that might arrive in 2-3 years. I’m tired of playing kick the can down the road. We’re perpetually playing for “next year”. Keep the big three, and hope they can stay healthy. Continue t develop Ashby. And the defense has to be improved. That’s been a real letdown this year. And we need somebody besides Yelich that can get on base.
  2. I agree. They don’t have the pitching. The Dodgers staff can run circles around them, and that’s with Bauer in perpetual limbo.
  3. Home run by Tellez off a Met reliever. Scherzer was perfect through 6 with 9 Ks.
  4. I think we just need to accept that the possibility of making the playoffs has vanished, and start looking towards next year. I hate it, but a whole slew of changes need to be made, so all the better to get started immediately. I don’t know how some of these issues get fixed without big boss man opening up the checkbook to up our salary. But that’s not happening with attendance down. We’re about 5,500 down per game since 2019.
  5. Peralta since the ASB had gone 1-1 with a 2.27 ERA, so I wouldn’t say he’s been garbage, though his FIP has been substantially higher (4.33) because of the 4 home runs allowed in only 31 innings, and a SO/BB of just over 2. He’s back on the DL again, so clearly health has been a major factor in his inconsistency.
  6. I don’t recall ever seeing that happen before, in 43 years of watching baseball.
  7. Chosen as a tribute to New York’s former teams, the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants.
  8. When you have guys like Cutch striking out on three pitches, it’s smooth sailing. Don’t even make the pitcher work for the eventual out, guys. Just flail away.
  9. Four of the top six in our lineup have OBPs of .303, .310, .311 and .308. I just can’t wrap my head around that.
  10. How big are those games Counsell just pissed away with really poor decision making looking now? I don’t know what’s worse-making the playoffs, and getting totally spanked, or missing them altogether. Making the post season is a moral victory, I suppose, but they really don’t mean much unless you make a serious run at a title.
  11. Let’s hope the bullpen doesn’t fail Woody again. He was the ace we needed tonight. Taking the series from the Yankees would be a huge and unexpected boon to our post season hopes.
  12. No, they haven’t. Woodruff went to the DL after fighting through injury to his pitching hand that severely curtailed his effectiveness. An issue with his finger(s). Since he returned on June 28th, he’s gone 5-1 with a 2.69 ERA, and 99 strikeouts in 83 2/3 innings.
  13. You say that “they get hurt way too much” immediately after complaining that the pitching staff is overrated. Hmm. A big part of the reason why the staff has underperformed this year has been injury.
  14. The Brewers are going to strand two more, aren’t they?
  15. How’s the Yankee pen? Montas is already at 46 pitches.
  16. First and second with no outs. We really need to break thru here.
  17. The Brewers have left 14 runners on base in the last 11 innings. That’s frighteningly bad.
  18. Woodruff is going to have to go deep tomorrow for us to have any chance at avoiding a sweep.
  19. I agree completely. But McCutchen is on the downside of his career. The Brewers don’t have a hell of a lot on the way from the minors in the near future, and we’re pretty strapped financially by the Yelich contract. Though he might be striking out with Joey Gallo frequency, of late (well…), it’s not long ago that Hiura was a top prospect in baseball. He has the skill set to be at least a positive offensive contributor. Of our options, he’s one that is at least controllable. I would hope that we give him consistent playing time to try and figure it out. He’s had some good runs, but it’s awfully hard to get in the zone when your playing time is spotty at best.
  20. We’re going to see Hiura tonight. He’ll be on the mound by the 5th.
  21. He only thing the Brewers do consistently is play with inconsistency.
