  1. Yelli is 18 for his last 47 (.383) with 11 walks over the last 12 games. That’s a .500 OBP, to go with his .490 SLG. I’ll take it!
  2. Which of our bullpen guys comes in now and gives up two in the bottom of the 8th? ?
  3. The best way I can describe being a Brewers fan for 44 years. I’m Charlie Brown. The world is Lucy, holding a football.
  4. Oh, Brewers….. And good on ya pinch hitting for guys that are 5/6 with a pair of bombs, Counsell. Honestly, every time we need our manager to make a smart decision, he flubs it. And we can’t continue pissing away games to inferior opponents like this. Stop me if you’ve heard this before.
  5. Pittsburgh’s pitcher has a near 6 ERA, and we’re getting shut out. Lovely. Hard contact or not, we need to get on the scoreboard. Absolutely have to beat up on the Pirates, Reds and Cubs of the world. Burnes needs some run support.
  6. Talking about possible package deals and shedding salary to make a big move doesn’t sound like a bunch of kidding around to me. It comes across as at least entertaining the notion that Soto could be acquired. We’ll just have to agree to disagree, and I’m good with that. I respect your opinion. I’ve been wrong before. ?
  7. Are we expecting that Rogers will move into the setup role, with Williams becoming the closer?
  8. I made one post about it yesterday, and one today. That’s plenty? Okay, then. I don’t care what people post about. They can say whatever they’re thinking, as they should. But if they say something absurdly beyond the realm of possibility, then it’s also my right to post about that.
  9. That’s one of the most interesting aspects of this deal, for me. Will Soto stay in San Diego? They have a whole bunch of talent and should now be real contenders for a good while, assuming everyone stays/gets healthy (a big if). If Tatis comes back, having him, Soto and Machado in the heart of their order is a nightmare for opposing pitching staffs. San Diego has such a huge trump card in being San Diego. There aren’t many places that can compete from a sheer climate standpoint. They may have to blow it up, but in the mean time, that lineup is going to rake. I’m more concerned about their pitching. Blake Snell just hasn’t been the same since moving from Tampa, and Darvish is getting up there in age.
  10. The discussion I was referring to took place in the Josh Hader reaction thread.
  11. Sure about that? Because this seems a bit more than “fun and jest”. On 8/1/2022 at 1:24 PM, Jopal78 said: It's not impossible to think the Brewers could package, Ruiz, Gasser and some of their other prospects for Soto. A trade of Hader and Prospects for Soto and Taylor Rogers looks a lot better. On 8/1/22 at 1:38 PM, JohnBriggs12 said: Padres were one of the favorites for Soto. Could Ruiz be a guy who helps get Soto? His minor league numbers this year are phenomenal. On 8/1/22 at 1:14 PM, nate82 said: What if the Brewers are just shedding payroll to pickup Ohtani or Soto? Would be an interesting strategy. On 8/1/22 at 1:17 PM, narwhalattck said: If Stearns can somehow pull off that miracle, he’ll deserve to be in the hall of fame even if he achieves nothing else for the rest of his tenure. On 8/1/22 at 12:58 PM, Hooker78 said: It definitely gives them more ammo for another move. You’re not trading Hader for Soto…but could a couple of these guys be flipped with a few of our own to put a package together for a Soto or a Reynolds now? We’ll find out soon…
  12. Again, Soto was never….never coming to Milwaukee. And it amuses me that people actually discussed this possibility.
  13. Look, Soto isn’t coming to Milwaukee. Get real. There is zero chance that the Brewers could keep him after 2024. He didn’t take $440 mil to stay in Washington; what makes anyone think he’d want to play in Milwaukee? The front office knows that he’d be a rental at best, and the price to land him would be prohibitive. One baseball GM alluded yo it taking a Herschel Walker-type deal. Milwaukee doesn’t have the pieces to pull that off. If this is it, I’m very underwhelmed. Hader for a prospect with a 45 hit tool and a bunch of arms that don’t really excite me, and Williams moves into the closer role. While everyone is bagging on Hader’s performance in the post season (a bit unfair, imho), at least he was available. Williams wasn’t because he decided to punch a wall. Not getting at least one top 100 prospect is incredibly disappointing. I hope the FO isn’t done yet, because of this is it, selling off your closer n the heat of a pennant race, coming off 7 wins in 9 after the All Star Game, shows the team the FO has zero confidence in what this squad can do in October.
  14. We’ll be lucky to escape this inning with a lead.
  15. Woody’s one of my favorite Brewers ever, so I’m thrilled to see him back. It was heartbreaking to see Jimmy Nelson go down. We were due for some good luck. Hope that whatever the issue was with his finger sensation, it can be managed. Because that rotation is looking really tough.
  16. Don’t look now, but it appears that Brandon Woodruff is back to his old form. Since returning from a stint on the DL, Woody has been absolutely electric. I’m probably jinxing him, but through 5 innings, Woodruff has given up 1 walk, 1 hit, 0 runs, and has struck out 7. Dating back to June 28, his first action since the end of May, he’s thrown 33 2/3 innings, allowing 7 earned runs, 22 hits, 10 walks, and 46 strikeouts. That’s a 0.950 WHIP, 12.30 SO/9 IP, a 4.6 SO/BB ratio, and a sparkling 1.87 ERA, to go with a 3-0 record. Burnes is playing well. Woody is rocking. If we. Can get Peralta back soon, the Brewers could start making some noise.
