  1. Are they really doing that? I hope not. It's time to let 1982 go. Why? It’s all we really have. The U.S. celebrates the 4th of July every year
  2. I’d imagine that the offense started pressing more when they were down 3-0 since they knew how hard runs were to come by. That likely could have resulted in worse at bats than if it were still 0-0 out they were only down by one run. Maybe they would have squared up and hit a HR. We’ll never know, but the game could have gone in a drastically different direction if they weren’t down by so many runs. This could have been accomplished by driving in the runs when Peralta was pulled or if Peralta stayed in and continued pitching well like he was. I call that wishful thinking. They have been in a disastrous hitting skid for over a month. They never had a chance to score more than 4 runs in a game. Yesterday was the outlier.
  3. Yuck, the only reason to invest your time and energy in the Packers is if you like how you are feeling right now after the Brewers loss. At least the Packers win championships once every 15 years or so. The Brewers? We’ll you know that story…52 years and counting
  4. At least we have football and the Packers.
  5. I think you can start with Woodruff. He closing in on 30 and you probably not going to sign him to his next contract (probably can’t afford it anyway). He’s gotta be worth a well above average hitter, at best an all-star level player. You have Ashby who can replace him in the rotation.
  6. Yelich is sunk cost. That is money you can never get back. But not to try and find a way to improve at that position is just plain stupid. Maybe play Yelich at DH, or platoon him if he continues his steep downward slide. But I refuse to think the best solution is to hope he improves or just throw up your hands and say “ it is what it is”. You always need to Strive to improve your team, and not have that losers mentality. Bringing in a bunch of castoffs is not going to cut it anymore. You need to adjust the line of thought, the team is different now.
  7. I’m with you ‘stash. When Counsell was first hired he actually had some creative ideas, however as time went on he became more and more like every other manager, boring and extremely predictable. Throughout this year he had some head scratching moments, but he really lost it during the last 3 weeks of the regular season. It was inexcusable the way he managed against the Cards and the Dodgers. To let his foot off the gas was just plain stupid. To continue to bat Yelich 3rd didn’t make any sense and then to PH for Freddy in game 3, just smacked of desperation, it was almost like waving the white flag. Both he and Stearns need to sit down and figure out some creative way to get some above average bats in here. Anyone who thinks next year will be better is just fooling themselves. Do you really think Burns, Woody and Peralta will improve on their 2021 seasons or the current bats will magically improve is delusional.
  8. Yup, this is really the only way to look at Yelich right now. He needs to clear his head first, do whatever he can to clean up any lingering health stuff. Then put in whatever work they can to get his swing back to where he can hit the ball in the air. Just be good, dont need to be Barry Bonds again. Just a solid .850 borderline all star type would be a big help to the O while we have this pitching. You guys are dreaming. Maybe I can fly, Maybe I’ll win the powerball. Maybe I can win gold metals.
  9. I really don’t think this will make any difference at all. It is inherent in the skills of the batter. For almost half the season we have shown that this team really had poor hitting. The other half? They played against teams with poor or very poor pitching. It has been proven time and again that hitting coaches have very little impact on a team’s batting. Maybe use the money a hitting coach makes and add it to an offer for a player that is actually a good hitter. That’s a much better idea.
  10. If Counsell did what you are suggesting he should of been fired on the spot. Bunting with your pitcher has to be the dumbest idea I have heard in a long time. The right move was to put in a pinch hitter there. I think Counsell just used the wrong pinch hitter. Should have been Jace or Escobar in that situation and not Vogelbach. Now Nate, saying it’s a dumb idea just isn’t right. It’s a viable option that occurs 100’s of times each season. It’s an opinion and not a rare one at that. It might have gotten a run in that might have changed the game. We’ll never know, now won’t we Nathan. With the way the offense has been going you have to cash in with one out and you have to put in a pinch hitter. You don't know when your next opportunity is going to come up and you have to take advantage there in the playoffs. If this were the regular season sure send up the pitcher and hope for a walk or a wild pitch or something but not in the playoffs.
  11. Some would say reverting to Sept. 12 through Oct. 11 bats.
  12. It's called monday morning quarterbacking. If Vogel slaps one down the line and we score 2, and Houser pitches effectively...then CC is a genius. That outcome was probably more likely than the outcome that happened. That'd be like, why didn't Kershaw just walk Woodruff in the playoffs instead of pitching to him and allowing a hr. CC played the odds and lost, but his decision-making was correct in this case. Let's all agree this was an act of despiration and was the wrong move. If you set-up your team as pitching and defense this was the worst possible move to make.
  13. Only one team wins per year. I hope Stearns sees the error of his ways and springs for a couple of hitters this winter, otherwise 2022 looks like a repeat at best. Pitching and defense gets you far in baseball, however, that doesn't mean that you can get by with absolutely no above average hitters and not just average at best and below average realistically.
  14. Please G*D not again. This is torture
  15. A little snarky aren’t you.
  16. I’ d rather see a tie rather that another Crosby attempt
  17. You must be from Cincinnati
