  1. nice play by Weeks on a semi-tough hop. I sure have felt a LOT better about his defense this season. No more worrying about EVERY ball hit to him, whether or not he'll make the play or not. THAT scepter has been passed on to Bill Hall, this season, although even he is getting better with every game.
  2. Rich Hill has been the bomb this season against everyone he has faced. Maybe his curve won't have the same bite on it as it has so far this season. I fully expect a close game again and a likely loss (based on numbers) but will be pleasantly surprised and happy with a win. Regardless, we'll still be in first place!
  3. I can't believe there have been 10+ pages on this thread since the game ended. Are you guys just fooling me and re-watching the cheese sandwich game?
  4. a home run by a Prince off of an ice cream flavor. Good to the last drop! Bring on Turnbow!
  5. UEVA! Good job! Now. . . . . LETS . . . GET. . . . SOME . . . RUNS!!!! EVEN ONE RUN!
  6. Times like this that I appreciate being in Pacific time for baseball season.
  7. why no bunt from counsell? a bit perplexing
  8. what a game! Does Carlos hit for himself this inning regardless of his pitch count? Or do you hit for him and bring T-bow in no matter what?
  9. extra innings. yay. Yost getting in pitcher's faces sure has done the trick tonight.
  10. so far so good. Theriot is giving a battle, however.
  11. let's hope the good Villanueva shows up this inning.
  12. as good as Jones' catch was in the top of the inning, Jenks' was just as good.
  13. This from Jayson Stark's new "Rumblings & Grumblings" article. All I can say is, "Thank Goodness! It's about darn time!" I hope they get this figured out fast. If Bud's behind it, he must be ticked that he couldn't watch a game some night this season already.
  14. I'm excited, I'll say that much! Ready to break out my Retro hat. Hope the good Sheets shows up and the rookie doesn't do his magic twirling act. Or is that our hitters?
  15. just got done teaching for the morning. Always good news to see a 4-1 lead! Keep it up! It appears JJ is upping that average, too. Wasn't he near the Mendoza line just the other day?
  16. was that Fielder HR the one he hit OUT of PNC Park last year? Or am I thinking of a different pitcher?
  17. yep, game starts while I'm teaching today. I'll have to check in during my lunch break to see what's happening. Go Brewers!
  18. let's hope we can get a win streak started while in first place. Both times this year (minus opening day, which I don't count) we've lost the following game after we took over first place.
  19. not mention Prince being 0-for-his-career against Maholm (small sample, I know). Maybe Ned actually looked at *gasp* some statistics to base his decision? Nah.
  20. Okay, I know the last post said it was a conclusion, but as I looked for the game last night, I turned to 642 and the Bucks pregame show was on! I never, ever, ever-to-the-millionth-power got any other broadcasting on that channel except Brewers pregame, actual game, and postgame (with the extra innings and sports pack activated, that is). I wonder if DTV finally got things right and have fully activated the channel on their satellite. I'll have to check at some random time to see if I get programming or not (even if it's poker at 2 am, I don't care).
  21. boy, the Cards sure are nickel and diming us to death with hit and runs and other small plays. Not to mention gold glove type plays over the head of the outfielders continues when we really hit the ball hard.
  22. Looper pitched pretty darn good in his last start (first start?). 7 innings of 1 run ball, I believe.
  23. I just want to throw a conclusion (I hope) to my opening day story. I received a phone call out of the blue last night from Directv saying how sorry they were for the problem and they gave me an additional credit of $39.95 (the first payment of the Extra Innings package essentially) off my next bill. I said thank you and that I appreciate the effort. And then hung up (after some pleasantries, of course). I found out later after explaining it to my wife, that she had also emailed them about the situation (I was unaware of this) and that is what the phone call tonight was in reference to. I'm hoping they screw up with their computer and from now on only charge me 3 payments of $39.95 instead of four.
