    Binelas may have special power but there is no guarantee that he will be an average MLB hitter. DHamilton was one of MANY middle infielders we have at that level and we have three today that can fill his void. These two losses could be forgotten as soon as the next draft. Had we traded Joey Wiemer, I would have started to make my wincing face. If Binelas becomes Ruthian then I only hope that we look back on this as a successful Alexander/Smoltz trade that took the parent squad closer to the ring. I think Renfroe is more of a #6 in the lineup vs RHP and I am ok with that. As previously mentioned, he fills a void and allows $$$ to flow elsewhere.

    Yep. Three different teams in the last three years believed they were better off without him. That says something there. If Adames et al cannot turn his frown upside down then who can?

    It may even take two hitting coaches to get him to turn around. Let's see what happens.

    Wong Adames Yelich Renfroe Tellez Urias Narvaez Cain I dont hate that lineup. Switch Narvy and Renfroe vs RHP and keep this lineup but insert Severino instead of Omar vs LHP.

    When Stearns hires Timmons as a hitting coach, you think he slides a yellow legal pad and a pen across the table and asks for a list of undervalued steals they can try and land? I really think that Stearns and Brewers brass had their own ideas and could get some names to confirm what they were thinking. If not this exact scenario, to what extent did Timmons influence this move? Seems like Al Davis would do something like this in the old days of the NFL. Makes me wonder who we will get from the Mariners next...

    I have been as critical of Reyes as anybody here, but his September is turning me around to him. Great numbers, decent glove and has shown some daring with his speed on the base paths.

    I can see Feliciano taking over MPina next year seems in order. Ashby takes over for Anderson. Gustave, Sanchez, Cousins, and Small have bigger roles next year too. It will be interesting who occupies RF if/when Garcia jumps. JBJ, TTaylor, Dahl(?), and a free agent as not one is really ready in AAA. Don't we have $$$ on the books in dead money as well? Braun's maybe?

    What would it take for Dahl to play himself onto the 2022 Brewer roster (especially if Avi leaves)...because he is starting to do it this year? Lindblom ever going to see an MLB roster again...anywhere? He is pitching his way into a tryout for sure (maybe not in MKE)?

    Starting lineup in September to take a run at the pennant. Yes Yeli and Cain batting so low in the order would have been unfathomable a few years back, is just the way their OPSs are dictating events now. Am I off?     Why are we solely citing 2021 numbers? I will take it a step further. Why are we looking at any numbers before July? Relievers are fickle and lately he might have focused on just a few pitches to do better, might have moved on the mound from one side to the others, etc... Regardless, Stearns et al see something useful and got it. Since June, he worked low-leverage situations for DET in July and thrived against all comers. This would have been AAshby's role had he not melted in his one call up. That did not work. Suter needs a LHP mate. I love Gustave, MSanchez, and Cousins but they do not have the service time to know how to roll with MLB like an established pitcher (of any degree of success). We got one that will not clog the 40 next year for a player that may or may not make the bigs...such is life in a pennant race. It is my hope that they can focus on something that the Brewers liked on tape, take advantage of superior fielding, catching, and Hook to take some innings off Suter so Suter can be a more effective vulture of wins as well.

    Iglesias and TWatson from LAA could be had if LAA thought they could not jump the others for a wildcard spot. As nice as that would be, I still hope for a quality starter.     Since everybody and their brother is leaving DC, why not Joe Ross (2021 WAR--1.1 with 1.191 WHIP and 9.3 SO/9)? He is sporting a .624OPS in away games. He will be more expensive and the current market may seem pricy given what LA gave up but it is a thought. I honestly feel that at this point, a starter and Houser to the 'pen, would be good enough for a team that has DevWill back now, Topa readying himself, and Sanchez, Gustave, and Cousins ready to shuttle up and down. Sure a lefty would be ideal...why not start here?

    DET has more than a few relief pitchers to choose from and most under control for a while. A lefty like Tyler Alexander may come to mind, but aside from cheap pitching being a good thing to have, why wouldn't DET sell high on Soto? His WHIP and SO/9 indicate that he is the closer by default, they are years away, and while Soto might not get better, others can fill in in DET now. Cisnero may be another option as well. Either would push Suter into a lesser role. Daniel Bard in COL does damage to RH hitters (.556 OPS) but oddly enough his OPS given up is better at home (.733) than on the road this year (.980). Coming back with Jesus Aguilar could be Bleier and his sensational year might last through the fall in a new venue, but nothing the 34-year-old has done to date shows that he could maintain his .8 WHIP or SO/9 of 14. While he is struggling a bit this year, Yency Almonte (COL) was really nice last year with a WHIP of 1.1 and this year he is way better on the road away from Coors (.599 OPS) than at home (1.092 OPS). He could be packaged with McMahon (who has not been good on the road but thirdbase so...) Who gets sent to CHC for Tepera (.797 WHIP, SO/9 of 10.5) that you want to see opposite us for years? I am holding out hope that a starter is acquired (KGibson please) and Houser is moved to the 'pen to be our new reliever.

    Not unlike "acquiring" a former version of Yelich and Hiura, our best pickup at backup catcher would be Pina fixing things to get to .650 OPS. Putting resources in other areas and not pulling someone in over Mario and PHenry factor in here. Does everyone realize that his 2021 BABIP is .096

    Urias is on pace for roughly 2.5-3 war. He’s proving to be a quality player for this team. Shaw has -0.7 war this year. I would hope any additions at the deadline would improve on this. Voggy has -0.1 war…so not great either. I think that resources could be put in other places as well. Urias had A DAY today (what more could he do??) and I think that Stearns/CC will let him run a bit and see what if anything TShaw can do upon his return. Adames also making others forget about what they gave up in a trade. "On base" Jace getting some quality ABs after starting 1B in AAA (like I told everyone here would happen before it was unceremoniously taken down off this board for some reason). I almost think that a trade would be for Kyle Gibson and Ian Kennedy instead of offense.

    I think that you need to think about who will be coming up and what you can get for those not factored in or drafted over. Frelick and Gray would make a GMitchell trade easier. PHenry was also brought up and since Mario might replace a catcher next year, a PHenry trade could be done. Turang is not going to push Adames out of the way and now we have A LOT of middle infielders to take over for him soon in Biloxi so he could be moved. Lutz is a perennial late summer trading chip as well. What would GMitchell and then a mix of Turang, Lutz, and Henry bring in return? It took a LaPorta to get CC It took Odorizzi to get Grienke It will take a GMitchell to get a 2021 stud too...nobody wants your JBJs or Pinas now and we need them for clubhouse consistency.

    Frederickson was 8 years before Stearns and pitching labs and the like. This new regime deserves the benefit of the doubt with waivers, drafting, developing, and tall lefties.

    THIS...is one reason that Frelick got drafted. He was a three sport captain. That is insane unless your high school is super small. A long time leader that gets along with all types and comes from ultra-competitive/athletic family...ie great make up. I wish JBJ was 5'9" with those BB/SO "slap hitter" traits right now!

    I would love for Barker to make it to the show...just to have a chance. C Hummel and W Wilson are 26ish and seems to be destined to be the field player equivalents of Barker.
