  1. Who takes Hellweg's starts?
  2. So who is getting added to the 40 man roster after Hellweg hits the 60 day DL??
  3. Khris Davis had 11BB/34K in 153PA last year...After 101PA he is 32/1 K rate and pressing...what is the difference this year? He is reaching and chasing when he doesn't have to...but he still connects on occasion...
  4. Where should a "Who will be added to the 40 man roster?" thread go now that Hellweg has visited Dr. Andrews?
  5. TheCrew07 said, "I would much rather bring up Jimmy Nelson through the farm system than sign Kyle Lohse, there is absolutely value in developing a ton of 3s through the system. The problem isn't so much the regular season, the problem is the post season, when you need to match-up best on best." Great point...but I don't see a lot of mentioning of the absolute value of the money saved by having Nelson in the rotation (provided his WHIP is decent) so that the $$$ can be moved around to fill voids appropriately. I point at Estrada's presence this season allowing us to swallow one more season of RWeeks. I think that the post-season match up issue is a great problem to have and would love to see this rotation of what basically amounts to a bunch of 2s and 3s take on the top guns of Detroit over a 7 game series (provided they make it; DET just an example with Verlander and Scherzer being skilled aces). Someone else mentioned Nelson as a top 20 prospect and he might not be BUT if he can produce a decent MLB WHIP for 500K odd $$$ then there is a lot of value in that...especially if we have to overpay for 3B next season.
  6. Don't you think it is time for Rickie's agent to start saying things like, "Hey start shagging some balls in the OF and see if you can play some 3B if you want to keep collecting checks"? Versatility would not kill him.
  7. About ARam... Listening to the Braves announcers go on about Aramis' leadership role leads me to believe that with his salary and the limited amount of prospects that would be received, ARam stays a Brewer to maintain brand credibility and man the position with no other 3B prospect ready. The Braves guys went on about how ARam keeps on the kids to keep them focused and in line.. KRod...deal him and get him on a contender for single A prospects... Yo...I am partial to keeping him at this point. I really am. Starting pitching is more important to me and I like the idea of Yo and Lohse being there as others come up.
  8. bcd80...On the Rendon/Segura thing--I can agree with that. I have a feeling that someone in that front office is wary of Boras, the injuries, the MLB contract, and might see that Robbie Ray and Purke, with his MLB contract, aren't going to get it done alone. Maybe just Weeks (and a reliever like Badenhop or MGonzlz) for RRay, Purke, and a ptbnl. Furthermore if/when ARamirez and his 16mil next year and 4mil buyout are moved then they will need a 3B and that was the justification for that. Yo, KRod, Weeks all have replacements ready to go, but JFrancisco, Yuni, and Bianchi are not going to work there. Can Gamel come back to 3B after DM has shied away from putting him there? That is why Rendon was on my mind...got to give talent to get it...maybe not that much. Yo then to BAL as MLBTR says the Os are fishing for pitching...
  9. Yo Gallardo and RWeeks revitalized a bit gets Rendon, Purke, and RRay. Lower guys not on the 40 man roster is key for Melvin and this offers some outs for the Nats to justify the deal (Rendon is always going to have the possibility of being out/injured often, RRay is a back of the rotation lefty, and Purke is far off). Got to give the Nats a reason to do the deal and if I am Washington, I cannot justify moving Rendon without dangling some real trade bait--this is the base deal as some will say it is too much(Brewer fans)/others not enough (Nat fans). Pair it with the deal on the Dodgers trading partner board and you have Yo, RWeeks, ARam, KRod and 10mil for CSeager, Rendon, RRay, Purke, Angel Sanchez, Yimi Garcia, payroll flexibility, and places where farm guys can come up and fill in without completely losing our branding or core (Braun, Segura, CGomez, Lucroy, Aoki (Rendon steps in for ARam)) batters.
  10. KRod (after he gets to 300 with us) and ARamirez + 10 million dollars to LAD for Corey Seager, Yimi Garcia, and Angel Sanchez. Lower guys not on the 40 man roster is key for Melvin and this offers some outs for the Dodgers to justify the deal (Seager is far off and not a pitcher, Angel is up and down, and Yimi is a reliever that is farther off than KRod). Got to give the Dodgers a reason to do the deal and if I am LA, I cannot justify moving ZLee--this is the base deal as some will say it is too much(Brewer fans)/others not enough (Dodger fans).
  11. Ok seriously...when did Lee (TN) become the baseball capital of the world?
  12. Long term plan is to earn more than you spend. Bring in 3 Mil at the gate and keeping the branding up with Ws. This is done by drafting quality players and signing them. Looking back through the drafts on BR.com you will see that the WAR of the Cardinals' draft vs. our own isn't that impressive, but they have more players getting past AAA and offering competition at the very least. I would keep GM DM and his thrifty ways of getting guys to pitch in for the minimum (Ax, Hendu, Figaro, Estrada, etc.) but ditch Seid for someone more progressive. Starting pitching has to be had...everything else is negotiable. Keep the team in tact and fill in FA losses with AAA players (CHart walks, HMorris/JRogers steps up) and this way the ARamirez/Lohse of the world aren't signed to big $$$ contracts that they might not live up to. Sign Segura to a long term contract if he will kindly agree. RWeeks, Ax, Yo to a degree need to get turned around in house. I agree with someone, signing guys after 32 seems like a bad idea. Be a place where the Kapler, Edmonds, and Kotsays of the world would acknowledge as a real team...that means MLB players would view MKE as a real destination and that doesn't involve a fire-sale...and means real live legit #1 and #2 starters all over the rotation.
  13. Schafer is not near Gomez' OPS and Gomez is a really strong defender. Logan is just now getting his bearings...maybe.
