  1. That Jerry Hairston Jr. trade ended up being low-key pretty solid. Closest in-season “veteran presence” position player acquisitions they’ve made during Stearns tenure are Neil Walker and Curtis Granderson. Both of those worked out well, but if they are going to add a veteran hitter to this current roster I think it would need to be someone that maintains positional flexibility because their roster spot would likely replace someone like Daniel Robertson. Asdrubal Cabrera? .241/.343/.400 plays 1B, 2B, 3B and SS. Would be an excellent depth piece and has a ring and over 100 at bats in the post season I came here to suggest Carlos Santana but this makes a lot of sense. Asdrubal in the clubhouse would not overshadow Hiura like a 1B plug-in would and would allow a hot bat to still start without demanding that Cabrera gets at bats to justify the trade. Return would not be prohibitive, I would think.
  2. That is what happens on this board though. Years ago I pitched a trade around Scooter Gennett et al. for Hunter Renfroe and was scalded for not giving enough in return for our lefty hitting scrub 2B. Overvaluing of our own guys (AKelly and his shoulder) and belittling others' is the default here. Another thing is the on going love affair with former Brewers or those that once stopped at a Culvers. I don't get it.
  3. Interesting home/away split on Garrett Cooper. Home .349 .446 .619 1.065 Away .211 .289 .321 .610 Better against lefties as one may assume but respectable vs righties too.
  4. Hoby reminds me of late 90s sensation Mike Myers with his lefty flip.
  5. I agree Gray, GMitchell, ESmall, and eventually AAshby will all move up and the first three sooner rather than later.
  6. Do you know the veteran who's AAA OPS is over 1.000 and is getting starts at first base in Nashville?? Yes Peterson, no not Dustin. Jace is getting primed at 1B for some MLB time. I think that the solution will be attempted in house well before the deadline and our kids are only going to be had at a premium. (edit:grammar)
  7. Forgive me if this was previously posted but draysbay.com on SBNation has a TB to MKE proposal (titled: Four Brandon Lowe trades that could make sense for the Rays) BLowe to MKE for Urias, Feliciano, and Devin Williams. I think that it is the BP trade analyzer that has it as Brewers getting 81.3 value and TB getting 59.0 value. Do they not understand control, winning now, upcoming ending contracts, or how Devin has started to ascend?? What would be a more reasonable value that I could send back to my TBR friends?
  8. Hoby Milner says hello. Granted he will revert back to career norms most likely, but he has thrown really well this spring. I'm guessing he's at least equal right now to any "lefty off the street". This is a fair point...was not sure if he had options or was at a Blaine Hardy level of option. I like free and if they can keep him and have him on the Nashville shuffle from time to time then deal!
  9. My guess... Woody, CB, FPeralta, BAndrson, Lindbolm, Houser (though AAshby would be better than Houser's stats of late, but service time) Hader, DevWill, Suter, JPF, DRass, Boxberger, Bickford (though a lefty off the street would be better and allow Bickford to develop further). Topa, Lauer need to show something first. Hiura, Vogelbch Wong Arcia, Urias TShaw, DRobrtson (will sub EVERYwhere as Arcia is proving he cannot and 4 OFs) OmarN, MPina Yelich, LoCain, JBJ, Avi TTaylor to get called up quickly if needed. Goodbye Black, Fisher, McKinney, JNott (out of options) but may be packaged for a LOOGY type for the pen as there are few lefties on the team. If there was a fictional 30 man roster Bickford, AAshby, Reyes, McKinney/JNott addition would give Picasso more paint...and it would be lovely.
  10. How set are Boxberger and JZimmerman...I know that experience is good, but is the quality there enough to burn an option on a better arm?
  11. Neuse from OAK to LAD means JTurner is leaving?
  12. Projections are based on my thoughts of feasibility to reach the bigs and where their potential may take them according to where they are in 2019 (and how they are trending based on past performances/scouts' expectations). 1 Trent Grisham OF 2 Aaron Ashby LHP 3 Brice Turang SS 4 Trey Supak RHP 5 Antoine Kelly LHP 6 Drew Rasmussen RHP 7 Ethan Small LHP 8 Mario Feliciano C 9 Max Lazar RHP 10 Devin Williams RHP 11 Zack Brown RHP 12 Tristen Lutz OF 13 Jacob Nottingham C 14 Corey Ray OF 15 Payton Henry C 16 Eduardo Garcia SS 17 David Fry C 18 Carlos Rodriguez CF 19 Joe Gray OF 20 Micah Bello OF 21 Lun Zhao RHP 22 Justin Jarvis RHP 23 Miguel Sanchez RHP 24 Clayton Andrews LHP 25 Bobby Wahl RHP
  13. This is where I am...although with Braun's contract and the loyalty between Braun and MarkA mean that Trent only plays if Braun moves to 1B, I cannot see moving a walk heavy 22 year old who just found his power stroke/groove.
  14. Does adding Allard mean that Minor is on the move?
  15. Dubon has the potential to lead off...this is big for me, because if Cain has 3 more years with an OPS under 700 then he is a defensive, bat 8th CF. There is a good chance that Grandal or another offensive minded catcher will not be in MKE next year leaving MPina and JNott to platoon out of the 7th spot. Then we would need more out of our SS to push everyone else down in the batting order. Arcia cannot do that. MPina/JNott .680 OPS Cain Arcia pitcher is a disastrous bottom half lineup.
  16. Can move to bullpen if starters come back healthy as well. Doubt Ponce was in consideration for next year's 40 man roster. August rotation--Chase, ZDavies, Houser, Lyles, and....Gio if he is ready or call up AWilkerson? IL rotation--Chacin, Woody, Suter, JNelson, and possibly Gio
  17. Strahm has been a lefty stud reliever in the past and is now a passable starter. If you trade for him then you have flexibility moving forward and could be the lefty out of the pen in 2020 that they thought Claudio could be this year.
  18. He (Stearns) probably got a lot of phone calls about those two when it looked for sure that we would be sellers after the Reds series, gauged the market, and is reporting his due diligence to Mark A.
  19. I think 2nd basemen have less wear and tear than starters do...I think starting pitching is move valuable than 2Bs but only if you can guarantee no TJs or shoulder fatigue. To a large extent, our starters over the past few years have come and gone like most relievers. If you can guarantee a healthy TOR then yes...otherwise...no thanks.
  20. Last 14 days whip 1.688 Last 28 days whip 1.821 We already have enough of the shuttle crew of JB, Burch, JayJ, DHart, TayWill, et al. I think this is an option in the mind of DS, but I'd just as soon pass.
  21. "I think a starting point for story maybe could be peralta or burnes. The Rockies aren't in a tear down, so an mlb arm with a ton of team control is very valuable to them. Peralta specifically has been very good at coors field. I also see Rodgers in place behind story, which is part of why i could see them looking to move him for the right haul." Everyone here is lucky that I am not GM, I would back the truck up for 2019 +2 years of TStory and JGray. I would want them both. I am tired, tired, tired of weak link SSs and would like to see one hit above the 8 or 9 hole. CBurnes, Supak, Grisham and CRay, DRassmssn, and Dubon...I am all in. I left Turang and Lutz out but it would not take much to get me to start replacing the original six listed. COL, like most teams needs catching help so JNott might be on their menu too. I am not adverse to trading for starters and will not trade parts of MIL that I don't like as no other team would want them either... Roast me but I would love this....
  22. What would Trevor Story cost? Surely we are backing the truck up on this deal, but the 40 man roster is coming and players need to be moved or lost.
  23. Starting pitching going back to the 27th has been improved. 34IP 32H 9ER is modest but all this team needs from Chase, House, Chacin, Woody, and Davies to keep this team in it through the fall.
  24. SDP is sub.500 as of now and 4th in the NLWest. They are not going to overtake the LADodgers but with the wildcard, anything may happen. I think they are thinking about the future and they have a lot of hard throwing talent that they can use to close games with. 1.5 years of KYates would be pricey, but it would allow Hader to drift down out of the closer spot and be more flexible like last year. Additionally, Yates, Hader, (pickup the option on) JJeffress, and get Knebel back is a heck of a back end of a bullpen for 2020. Here is the hard part...it is going to be costly. I say this because it is a win now situation and we already have PHenry at the same minor league post and we just drafted a lot of catchers but...Feliciano would a starting place and probably involve Supak, Grisham, and another for .85WHIP and 15+K/9IP through the end of 2020.
  25. Who is eligible to be taken off our roster next year if they are not protected on our 40 man roster? Is this list out there or is it too soon?
