  1. It cannot be better. After the MLB 'show', I pine for the Link Report. And here it is. I am SAVED!
  2. I never accused Brian or trying to build up to sell (not that I recall). I got banned because I would rail against stupid in game decisions and a lot of the mods were very calm and not liking controversy. Also, I was anti sabre metrics, because years ago it had no concept of a line drive. BABIP was completely random according to the mods. And if one aruged vehemently against that, well, they did not like it. At least a couple years after I pressed the idea of a LINE DRIVE having a better chance of being a hit than a pop up - it has dawned on some 'deep thinkers' it could be true. I should have patented the idea 'line drives are indicative of the pitcher not doing well and/or the batter doing very well; line drives are not a random event'. How much I could have made. Squillions.
  3. As I said yesterday, the game moves way, way too fast for our managers. 8th set up better for Smith. But they need 30 mins to 'discuss it'. In the meantime your cookbook says Broxy (do I have it right) in the 8th. I can imagine Broxy pitching, say 10 or 12 games in a row, and in game 12 his arm falls off mid inning. The camera pans to our managers... sitting there with perplexed looks looking at the number 8 on the scorecard. After a minute, they decide Broxy should pitch with his left hand. Because it is the EIGHTH inning.
  4. So with bases loaded, nobody out, we could not pinch hit with Braun? Even though we were told he was available to pinch hit. What is going on? This is getting back to the days when we had two Moutons, one left and one right. And our manager 'forgot' which one was which and did not pinch hit with the correct handed one in the nine inning of a one run game with men on base. At least the manager said that day 'I forgot'. Did RR say today he 'forgot' Braun was on the bench. Or have we been conned re the severity of his injury. Will he be day to day for 11 days, then we DL him, back dated, for three days. So for 11 days we are having a 24 man roster. I get the feeling sometimes the game is too fast for our manager.
  5. Is there any possibility Bran signed his extension whilst on PED? Could that null and void the extension?
  6. I am happy you are only allowed to lose ONE game at a time. This was worthy of an 0-4 start. And what is with Braun hurting himself 'catching a fly ball'. Huh? Bad luck I slept through this one. When I awoke to catch some, it was already 10 - nil.
  7. G'day Brian. My son, now grown, is wanting to do this DJ thing. Good luck to you, on it. It was a great, great thing you set up (this brewerfan). Well done. It will continue. Thanks for it... Hoffy. (please dont ban me! )
  8. I was a banned one who has been around since the espn days. Tried to come back a few times, but the mods banned my IP for a few years. Used a proxy or whatever you call it to hide my IP and came back under some other name. But after a couple years rest my work changed ISP, my IP was new, so I came back regular now My claim to fame is I got going the Hart elbow thing and Clancy bit (sorry Clancy, I was just trying to support you!) I miss the guy with RickeyHenderson in his name. And i liked Reed and Clancy. And Al annoyed me so much I liked him
  9. 1B Matt Clark, 2B Elian Herrera, 3B Jason Rogers, SS Luis Sardinas. Juan Centeno LF Bryan Petersen, CF Ben Guez, RF Shane Peterson, with Matt Long filling in everywhere Following spring training, one must assume that above lineup will win a lot of games in AAA. Or... we have over estimated our players. Almost all of those guys seem to be on the up, or at their peak, and had/have/will have MLB roster aspirations.
  10. Jimenez is in the exact role needed to measure him. He is good D, so that will stay. The O, in minors was pretty good, so he either will be a MLB player or one of the AAAA guys that is of not much value. I am excited to see what he will do in 200 at bats or so. As I posted in another thread, if he becomes an average player overall at league min, that is just great for a couple of years. Very Scooterish. Heck, I guess we hope Segura is Scooterish for a couple of years.
  11. Maybe Doug will surprise us. The bench seems to be full of 'last chance' 'maybe they will find themselves' '26-28 year olds'. Hector Gomez. He projected to be a good, every day player. And for what he did in AAA, maybe he will end up showing he should be a regular or at worst a great 24th man. Schafer. His D is so praised. If he can actually hit now that he is in his PEAK years, he becomes a coveted 4th outfielder (after Parra goes next year) Jimenez. Again, a good D third baseman, that hit in the minors like he SHOULD BE ok in the majors. Maybe he finds himself and he is The Scooter of the Third Base (average+ at league min in 2016+). So if all these buds blossom, and in AAA some guys grow, you can lose Parra and Aram next year ($20 mill saved) and replace them with Jimenez and Shafer and you have a Rogers/Clark/Herrera filling the end of the bench in 2016. Maybe at the end of 2015 we will praise the nugget finder for nuggetting the bench. ...or they will all play crap.
  12. I think reillymcshane sums it up best. Go with Schafer because 'maybe' he will 'get it' re batting in his peak season and he is exceptional in CF. And, that is the way the 40 man sits. So, no change needed.
  13. I think Gomez (given his past high prospect status) will be, for sure, the all-rounder. Between Schafer and Herrera is an interesting call. I really dont know which I would do. Does either have any future?
  14. I heard a strange explanation from RR / Doug today. Having Shafer/Herrera allows Ron to pinch hit with Parra not not worry about the outfield. That is dumb to my thinking. If they are thinking of Parra as the pinch hitter and Shafer as the D replacement, then that is worse than having Clark as the the pinch hitter and Parra as the D replacement. I would think Clark is a better bench bat than Parra. Dare I ask re Clarks 'D' at first. Is it really that bad? That means Clark should be on an American League team.
  15. It seems strange to me that his agent calling around could not find a spot for him. He is throwing 94. He has had a good spring. Yet no biters. It may be that he saw Cotts' one third of an inning and thought the Brewers will have an opening real, real soon.
  16. I hope the Brewers will simply cut Cotts if he does not perform like NOW. It would send a bit of a message to the other players. A good message. It will be the 'Brewer Last Couple of Years Rake in a Few Million Retirement Home' is CLOSED.
  17. I am loving the Scooter in the 7th spot, that RR has said will happen now. We will be able to judge more clearly from there - as he will not be platooned. Scooter himself just said it is his goal to 'just stay in there' (not bail) v lefties. So I will be happy to see if he can do that.
  18. So our first baseman for 2015 is: LindGoodBackRightHandPitcher, LucroyLindGoodBackLeftHandPitcher, ParraLindBadBackForALittleWhileRightHandPitcher, JimenezLindHaveARestLeftHandPitcher, MaldyOnceInAWhileForFunBecauseHeWillDoAnythingAsked It does seem we have not planned for LindBadBackForMoreThanACoupleOfDays This probably destroys Morris's future. I thought he would be every day AAA first baseman. Now that will go with Clark. And Rogers at third.
  19. I hope we can pull a prospect for prospect trade or even an MLB guy for prospect trade. We seem to have bundle of projected good+ middle infielders. Surely one of the other 29 teams has a bundle of corner infielders. Who knows who the 'winner' will be in such a trade, but to trade Sardinas for a similarly quality 3rd baseman... or even Segura for a similarly qualified 3rd baseman (when you are happy Sardinas or Aricia is ready, seems a no brainer to me)
  20. Then surely Thorn and Blaz looked a lot better than Perez. And this RR quote got my attention "All of our games are important, especially for the first month. I'm not as interested necessarily about having starters in Triple-A. This is about winning in the big leagues. Tyler and Mike aren't 21 or 22. They both have been starters; both have pitched well out of the bullpen. They're versatile and give you length." I will guess now that Thornburg makes it, as he has shown he CAN BE lights out v MLB guys. Blazek was also noted by RR to be really well conditioned. Maybe Perez's lack of conditioning care cost him a job. How interesting!
  21. I thought about this unfitness as I went to bed last night (perhaps prompted from me walking by the mirror after shower). My 17 year old son is a catcher in a men's park league. Good hands but not strong arm. Son always a bit unfit. Not fat, but unfit. He found a friend who was a gym junkie. And just as a social thing he went to the gym three or four times a week in the offseason and did some serious weights. When he came back for the next season, it was like he had a bionic arm. He could even throw flat from his knees to 2nd base. Running against him by other clubs became impossible. His club coach (who is a an Ex LA Dodger AAA player) was so impressed he tried to line up some college for the boy to go to. My point: these guys who are clearly UNFIT... surely just a little fitness/strength work would pay off. Would it not? Amazing you can be paid millions to be a professional athlete and your talent is so good you can make it with nil fitness. Surely, you would do a little to become more fit.
  22. Clark oddly has all three options left! But on my team he is the 24th guy. And Hector Gomez is the 25th guy. And I think we do not go with a fifth outfielder. And we 60 day DL Henderson to make a 40 man spot for Perez - or you DFA Shafer. Thornburg is the AAA number one starter. And for all the nice chat from RR, Blazek is the number two starer in AAA. Jimenez makes it at least for a month or so. In fact, he likely makes it at least half way, as his D is quality at third. And his AAA stats show he 'should' be able to be at least average in MLB. Rogers is your big hope to break out big in AAA covering 1st and 3rd. As you dont know in 2016 which you will need him to do. So in my book, Perez is the non-roster guy from 2015 that breaks camp. And, c'mon, he is only 29, so you may catch 2 to 4 year of good, well priced performance from him. Yet, talking at the fringes does cover the fact that 2015 is on the shoulders of Braun and Aram - your three and four hitters. Doug seems to have done a good job of making a line up around them and leaving a decent rotation and pen.
  23. We are nearly at the final hurdle. Getting 20 hits a game makes you think Ron is happy. I cant see them changing from the boring, obvious Gomez (over Scooter) Lucroy (RR has already said he will bat 2nd; and a doubles machine behind Gomez makes sense) Braun (you cant move a vet) Rameriz (you cant move a vet) Lind/Clark (as I noted in another post, Clark has no issue with lefties) Davis Scooter Segura Now the only drama is the RR brain explosion when Lucroy rests and Maldy plays. But I will guess that will be v a rightie only, so you put Scooter 2nd and Maldy 7th. The above lineup does not change for right or left hand pitcher. And the 'boys' are all in their fav spot. And Lind, who mashes righties like nobody else, comfortably sits in 5. And your worst batter (as Endaroud says) bats 8th. Davis fits just fine in 6. Scooter can show if he can hit lefties or not at 7. Rameriz retires with grace. To be honest, it is simply, uncontraversial, all the boys are happy, and it seems balanced leftie and rightie pitcher. (I will mail it in to Ron now)
  24. I was noticing today that Clark's three home runs this spring have been off lefties. I really think he will be the back up first baseman, left hand power bat off the bench.
  25. "I don't see a full time 1B or 3B on the 40 man " I sure hope ONE of Jimenez, Clark, Rogers can actually be an 'averagish' guy at league min for a couple of years.
