  1. Some would say a franchise going on 45 years without a title is sad. Ben and Sam from Effectively Wild were asked in one of their listener emails "In 100 years, which current team is most likely to still not have a world championship?" They both said the Brewers
  2. RIP. One of the All Time Greats. I have to comment on the Cancer that Tony Gwynn had. Tony Gwynn had parotid cancer, which is a cancer of the saliva gland. I had a tumor in my parotid gland removed 2 years ago, so I know a bit about the anatomy and procedure and specifically Tony's story. The thing about it is that you don't get parotid cancer from tobacco use. I remember reading a article that quoted Tony Gwynn's doctor as saying that his cancer most likely did not come from his tobacco use. But still, Gwynn went around telling everyone that was the cause of his cancer. Maybe it was just easier for him to believe that the tobacco was to blame. Its hard to think that sometimes people just get cancer. It's certainly easier for the media to just say yup another case of tobacco killing someone.
  3. Naw, FSN showed a slow mo replay of the ball coming out of Cole's hand and it was clearly a changeup grip.
  4. I wouldn't put too much stock into those websites. I prefer to get the numbers from the source itself I suppose with the Hot start for the Brewers and the long shot odds at the beginning of the season everyone jumped on the bet and drove the odds way down. 5/1 is probably more a correction than a reflection of their actual chances. Still seems way out of whack though.
  5. Doesn't "odds on favorite" mean you have better than even odds? Also, there's no way Vegas has the Brewers as the favorite to win the WS.
  6. That's why Telly gets the big bucks! He did say that the x-ray was negative, and I have to admit that's pretty cool they can get that info out before the game is even over.
  7. Hey, guys maybe someone could explain this to me. How come Brewers have Maldanado at first base? Why not keep Overbay in the lineup and move his position to first base and move Reynolds to third. Can you do that?
  8. Ladies and Gentlemen, sit back and enjoy the game. Crack open a beer or two or three, make sure to drink them. And LETS GET SOME RUNS!!!!!!!!
  9. I like watching him play the way that he does. It's exciting. Baseball and baseball fans too often have a stick up their 2 hole. What I don't like is this stuff leading to suspensions. No doubt Carlos is gonna miss some games because of what happened today. And on the topic of what happened today, I'm not totally against unwritten rules, but this is just ridiculous. In the Atlanta incident, the Braves say your not allowed to admire your home run. Fine. In Pittsburgh, Cole says you can admire your home run but you can't admire a triple? OK....Think about that, if Gomez had booked it out of the box, it would probably be an inside the parker. Instead, its a triple and he's the one that looks like an idiot for not running. Cole should be thanking Gomez for not hustling. And where was Ed Sedar? Brewers coaching staff gotta know this stuff is going to be happening. I would have liked to see Ed bear hug Gomez and push him off to the side towards the dugout. Instead it was the umpire. I don't know he probably still would have got tossed, but maybe you could avoid the inevitable suspension that comes from throwing punches.
  10. several teams copied the brewers. the nats presidents race is a bad copy. No, the bad copy is the Rockies, who race toothpaste, a tooth brush, dental floss and mouthwash, I believe. Wow, that's bad. I was going to say Tampa Bay Rays. Their race is between large bottles of Pepsi, Pepsi Max, Aquafina, and Sierra Mist.
  11. Ahh, just saw the replay. It was Martin that punched the pirate that Rickie had in a headlock. Couldn't tell who it was but they had on a hoodie.
  12. What the heck is going on???? If Gomez is getting tossed, someone else gots to go too. I swear I saw Rickie get clocked right in the back on the head.
  13. Anybody else catch the April 5th post game interview? RRR basically said that they had three camera angles on the play and that one of them showed Gomez as safe. He also said that he didn't go out there because he hates going out onto the field every time there's a close play. He wasn't scrutinized for it since they went on to win the game, but come on. You got the chance to get your team a run, all you got to do is go out on the field.
  14. But there is instant replay now, it shouldn't matter if the ball got there before the runner.
  15. That was beautiful. I'm hoping someone somewhere will turn that into a gif.
  16. So uhh, what do you guys think Ron's nick name for Duke will be?
  17. Braves fan in the Reddit game thread right after Gomez hit the home run. "Running the bases was just as disrespectful as watching it fly...because he did it in spite. CENSORED Gomez...CENSORED CENSORED."
  18. If it's close, you should challenge! That's what the system is for. I hope RRR doesn't end up being a manager that holds onto that one challenge waiting for the perfect opportunity to use it.
  19. I like the new graphics minimal look. The pitch count is a good addition. But they are still using AVG, HR and RBI for the batter intro stats. Come on FSN get with it! We don't care about that anymore. Where is the OPS? At least give us the OBP.
  20. Oh don't get me wrong, I fully agree. But it's the only thing left that makes sense. As others have pointed out, Yuni is historically bad, one of the worst players in 100 years. He was brought in as a stop gap until Corey Hart made it back. By the time they realized that Corey wouldn't be back, the season was lost and I'm thinking they recognized that Yuni had a vet/mentor relationship with some of the younger guys. (Segura, Peralta, Maldonado, Francisco?). I don't know maybe its a stretch, but its the only thing I can think of why the Brewers are keeping that walking piece of history that is Reeking Billy.
  21. Guys, yes, Yuni is horrible. But did you ever think that maybe the Brewers are keeping him around for non performance reasons? He seems to be pretty tight with Jean Segura (they like to do little dances together in the dugout) he seems to be always smiling and everyone says hes a nice guy. Maybe he is "the club house guy" for the Hispanic players on the team. If you listen to BP's - Effectively Wild podcast they said that ARAM was most likely "club house guy" for the Brewers, but I bet Yuni is to some extent as well. Besides, I don't want to see the Brewers playing themselves out of a top ten draft pick next year. The top ten picks are protected, so you wont lose your first round pick if you sign a FA. Not sure where they stand right now, but Yuni being on the team I think helps. All that being said, goofing on Yuni will always be entertaining. Carry on.
  22. After a little googling I realize that he was actually trying to say "Reeking Billy", which is hilarious since he does in fact reek.
