  1. Cousins here makes me nervous. Hopefully he can get at least an out or 2 out of his mandatory 3 batters. You never want to see the tying run at the plate in this bandbox.
  2. It always seems like there is one pitcher in the rotation that gets a disproportionate amount of the run support. Right now, Rea is that guy. In his last four starts, the Brewers have scored 9, 6, 7, and 10 runs for an average of 8 RPG. In the other 15 games played between those starts, the Brewers have scored just 34 runs for an average of 2.27 RPG. In those other 15 games the Brewers have only hit the magic number of 4 or more 5 times, and they are 4-1 in those games. In the other 10 they are 1-9.
  3. That DP was sorely needed before the Reds had a chance to steal second.
  4. Hopefully 10 will be enough today. That isn’t looking certain right now.
  5. Should we match him up with Eric Thames?
  6. It’s been awhile since the Brewers have scored this many runs without a HR. They haven’t scored 4 runs in that many games period.
  7. The Brewers might as well wave any Reds runner on first base to second. They’re not even contesting steals in the series.
  8. Is there any update on Adames? Last weekend they said they hoped he could rejoin the team in Cincinnati, and I haven’t seen anything about that. That makes me think he isn’t ready to travel yet, much less play.
  9. Tellez has been getting regular at bats, but for the last month he hasn’t been hitting much (OPS of .696) even while the vast majority of those ABs have come against RHP, either when he starts or enters as a PH or mid game replacement. His career splits pretty clearly indicate that he hits RHP much better than LHP. Given that the Brewers are the worst (or very close to it) hitting team in MLB against LHP, they signed Ruf a couple of days after he was DFAd by the Giants (who released him as he returned from the IL with a wrist inflammation) in an attempt to help out a glaring weak spot. Though he didn’t do much of anything in his short stint with the Brewers, he did seem to have more quality ABs and made some pretty good contact in that short time for someone who hadn’t been in a game for 3 weeks. He clearly passed the low bar established by Voit and Winker. On the Brewers, his K rate of 7 in 30 ABs (23%) almost qualifies him as a “contact hitter) 😀. IMHO it made sense to have him in the starting lineup over Tellez yesterday. I can accept that reasonable minds could differ over that
  10. Then explain that one word response. BTW, I looked back at the posts from that part of the game thread and don’t see anything specific about a Williams pitch. I have to assume now that wiguy was referring to a general post he made about the ump being bad. Because I do not follow the game thread pitch by pitch as I follow the game, I would have no way of knowing if that was just a general comment about the whole game or if it referred to a specific pitch. I’m done with this exchange.
  11. Sorry, but I do not necessarily see every single post on the game thread. So now you are accusing me of lying.
  12. I think the career numbers are more relevant than Ruf’s 38 PA against LHP this season.
  13. I understood that. Laughing is not a complaint.
  14. No complaints about the 3-1 strike call on Steer.
  15. Lucky break that the pitcher first bobbled it and then didn’t throw home where he would have had an easy out.
  16. I know that. This exchange started a few innings ago after Ruf left with a comment that Tellez should have been in the lineup in the first place.
  17. It’s more than that one AB. Ruf is a better option against a LHP
  18. I,predict you will be able to flip to the Twins very soon.
  19. One word I wouldn’t use to describe the Brewers offense is “inconsistent”.
  20. And still another horrible AB to end the inning.
  21. Another example of why playing Tellez regularly against LHP isn’t going to help anything. He couldn’t even manage a weak grounder to the right side to advance the runner.
  22. That wasn’t one of the ones we were talking about.
  23. I would like to see robo umps if only to remove potential favoritism for certain pitchers or hitters or home teams. But the boxes on TV just feed incessant one sided whining about calls that are borderline at best.
