  1. Barnes to Drake would have been great. Now have to use Barnes and Hader the night before we start a Cubs series is surely not ideal.
  2. Leaving a lefty reliever making his debut in to face Braun was ... Um.... Odd. I feel better about Counsel now. Lol.
  3. I agree this is what we are built for, in tough games when needed. This just doesn't feel like it was at all needed. Those bull pen arms only can eat up so many innings.
  4. Gassed? At 64 pitches? 64 stress free pitches? He gave up opposite field ground ball singles, a pop up, and a ground out that inning. What looked gassed?
  5. WHY??? Starter at 64 pitches and only a runner on 1st with 2 outs??? Two hits this inning, but both ground balls. CC puts way to many unnecessary outs on our bullpen.
  6. Two sort of recent games, but I have no recollection of Silva or Cook.
  7. Turned on the game and did about 5 double takes at the pitch count for Chacin. Is fox trax only counting every third pitch?
  8. If Suter does need a quick hook in his next start I like having Woodruff back him up. Two drastically different pitchers which is nice to have go back to back.
  9. My bad, thought 3 or less run lead was automatic save. Nice to keep the streak going. Mets tied Cards now as well.
  10. I don't believe you need a full inning to get a save. Nope, still a save if he finishes it.
  11. One out save? Jennings probably gets the 2 lefties. If he gets those two why not let him face one more? There's a righty sandwiched between the two lefties. Jeffress makes sense then. I just heard them say 2 lefties.
  12. Aguillar is in at first it looked like. Thames rolled on his wrist diving last inning. Another non DL injury?
  13. One out save? Jennings probably gets the 2 lefties. If he gets those two why not let him face one more?
  14. If that stayed in play it would have to have been the deepest catch ever by a second baseman. Villar about 10 feet in front of the foul pole.
  15. Curiosity made me Google. Seems like Thornburg is nearing a return. He's supposed to throw live batting practice in Boston this week. Also, Will Smith expected to return to the Giants bullpen this week as well.
  16. Was just going to say it feels like we should have more... Shaw fixed it before I could type it.
  17. Live I totally thought Perez was going to pick it up off the ricochet and throw Braun out.
  18. If Thames stays at first that shallow fly ball is probably a run.
  19. Very nice ovation for Cain. Really cool to see fans do that for a former player.
  20. Probably only cares about the defense he brings for today, but also the starter does seem to have reverse splits as noted above.
  21. I just don't understand all of the Sogard hate. He was a .393 obp guy with good defense in 299 PA last year. That's a 1.9 bWAR player in half a full seasons worth of PAs. And I'm not trying to single out you, it seems to be a lot of people around here. I'm willing to give him some more time. What I am concerned with is Santana, after a terrible spring, he has one XBH on the season and doesn't seem to be a regular starter now that we're back at full strength. Is this how it's gonna be for him? Basically a bench bat for the season? Take one crazy month out of his stats and see where they are. He was terrible outside of that month. He plays decent defense but to expect any production from him offensively is grasping at strings. Edit: One reason I tolerate Villar more is upside. He may find that speed power combo. Sogards upside is so blah. He will never hit for power or steal bases consistently. He is just limited in tools. He has to be a OBP monster just to be sort of relevant.
