  1. Craig Breslow back up to the majors with Boston. Chris Michalak is now up with the Reds.
  2. The re-appearance of Wayne Franklin, called up by the Braves. Just want to mention the nice season Eliezer Alfonzo is having with the Giants; he could be up for surprise Alumni of the Year.
  3. Was a short stay for Breslow this time, but I bet he'll be back. I don't think the Red Sox are done tinkering.
  4. From the 1999 Louisville pitching staff: Aaron Small, just demoted to AAA Columbus by the Yankees. Joe Borowski, closer for the Marlins.
  5. Jason Romano has signed a minor-league contract with Tampa Bay and is assigned to AAA Durham.
  6. "I still don't understand -why- with a man on 2nd and no outs is your #4 hitter not allowed to bunt." The Reds' #4 hitter just bunted.
  7. Runner at 2nd, no one out, the 4 best hitters on the team all get a chance- no runs.
  8. Based on the splits, why is Shouse still in the game? Edit: Oh never mind.
  9. Powell reports that 4th round pick Anundsen has signed. Good news.
  10. Page and Bailey- those were the names that stood out to me as well. Anyone know if Page is going to sign or play football? Edit: If I remember correctly, Jarrad has posted here before- maybe he can answer that himself.
  11. Oh I get it. We have to wait for the other team to score before we start anything offensively. It's one of those unwritten rules.
  12. I noticed that unsigned Brewer picks Deik Scram (45th round 2004) signed with the Tigers, Kanekoa Texeira (31st round 2004) signed with the White Sox and Garrett Bussiere (14th round 2003) signed with the Cardinals. Scram moved up to the 18th round this year, Texeira made a smaller jump to the 23rd, and Bussiere fell to the 26th round. Others I found- Andrew Bailey (16th round 2005)- 6th round to the A's Brent Allar (11th round 2005)- 14th round to the Orioles Patrick Murray (31st round 2005)- 45th round to the Phillies Ty Pryor (27th round 2004)- 26th round to the Indians Daryl Maday (43rd round 2003)- 30th round to the Giants Jarrad Page (5th round 2002)- 7th round to the Angels Brian Hernandez (11th round 2002)- 19th round to the Padres
  13. In the 31st round, the Florida Marlins selected a CF by the name of Willie Mays.
  14. Round 21: Jesse Damico, C, Mohawk HS (PA), 6'2" 210 lbs, L/R. Round 22: Johnathan King, RHP, Northeastern OK A&M, 6'2" 210 lbs. Round 23: Rutherford Shuman, RHP, Tift County HS (GA), 6'3" 210 lbs. Round 24: Travis Wendte, RHP, U of Missouri-Columbia, 6'2"95 lbs. Round 25, Mike Goetz, CF, U of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 5'11" 190 lbs, L/R.
  15. Round 19: Lee Haydel, OF, Riverside Academy HS (LA), 6'1" 170 lbs, L/R Round 20: Mehdi Djebbar, LHP, Ahuntsic College, 6'1" 182 lbs.
  16. Looks like Eliezer Alfonzo was called up to San Fransisco and will make his major-league debut.
  17. I noticed Pat Borders retired. Amazing that he stuck around so long...
  18. How often do we go 4 for 4? Nice walkoff wild pitch for the Sounds in the 11th....
  19. It was short-lived for Travis Smith, made the one start, wasn't all that bad, but DFA the next day.
  20. Besides Taubenheim being scheduled to pitch for Toronto, Travis Smith is expected to be promoted to Atlanta to start against Arizona tonight.
  21. A better chance of sweeping than winning 2? Sorry, but I'll take a handful of grains of salt. I like to think we're plenty better than the Twins as well, but that might be overly optimistic.
  22. Lidge was lifted in the 9th inning against the Dodgers in a save situation. After he gave up 3 walks and a hit, Wheeler came in to get the final out.
  23. "The Fernandez watch is on. He needs to pitch 2 innings with no earned runs to get his ERA under 10. Go Jared!" He did it! "On the plus side, by the end of this game, Fernandez's ERA will (hopefully) be lower lil' Ben's." Not that.
  24. Actually, we should have had Fernandez come in to pitch to Bard yesterday instead of leaving Davis in to give up the 2 RBIs. If he can't catch a knuckleball, certainly he can't hit one.
  25. "I think we Have to focus more on the Brewers and less worry what the Cubs do." Why? I'm not sure that focusing more on the Brewers will help them win. While suffering through another loss, we may as will distract ourselves with some good news.
