  3. http://www.anyclip.com/movies/the-big-lebowski/KDCBJJ2n7hbmuJ/#!quotes/ Burkhalter? Unpost it!
  4. Yep, there is a solid senior sign with some saving right there. Sally sells sea shells on the seashore.
  5. Don't think the Cubs are having a very good draft so far. Same goes for the other teams in the NL Central.
  6. Another college RHP Brett Graves, Missouri would be on my wish list for Round 4
  7. We went with a cheap, young CY. I guess.
  8. Would love Keaton McKinney, RHP HS Iowa For College pitchers, I like RHP Chris Ellis RHP Jake Cosart
  9. Also like high school leadoff-type centerfielder from Holmen, WI, Jaren Kendall. But I assume we will go with easy sign college guys in round 3 and 4.
  10. Milwaukee Brewers first 5 2014 picks and slot values 1st Round- 12th Overall ($2,805,700) 1st Comp A- 41st Overall ($1,384,900) 2nd Round- 50th Overall ($1,100,300) 3rd Round- 85th Overall ($641,800) 4th Round- 116th Overall ($449,300) Total available to sign first 5 picks= $6,382,000 This is how I think we can sign our first 3 selections: 1st- LHP Kodi Medieros ($2,000,000) 1st Comp A- SS/3B Jacob Gatewood ($1,700,000) 2nd- OF Monte Harrison ($1,800,000) 3rd- College guy ($500,000) 4th- College guy ($400,000) Total= $6,400,000 Get the extra $18,000,000+ needed by firing Chris Barlow from the Brewers season ticket department. Done and done.
  11. Thank you. I feel as if I should also get a "half credit" for picking Gatewood to land with the Brewers? Never thought in my wildest dreams that Jacob would still me there at #41. And then if he was, they would probably pass on him just to break my heart...
  12. I think it is safe to say that Mr. Seid has afforded himself a little job security with the tremendous draft that he has pulled off so far. As long as we can get the first three picks all signed, I think this will be one of those once-in-a-decade type drafts for the Brew Crew!
  13. I've very exited happy this Brewers! Did a backflip when Gatewood lasted to #41 AND the Brewers selected him. I'm also confident that the Brewers will find a way to sign all three guys.
  14. Love Kodi Medieros. If he signs for a lower than slot contract, then it gives the Brewers to go overslot on either there #41 or #50 guy. That could be huge, because I see a couple of guys in that range that would be first round picks in weaker drafts, especially in the high school ranks.
  15. I'm not implying that he will be shown the door on Monday, but if the guys he has picked the last few years, combined with whoever he picks in this draft, don't start to show something by this time next year, the Brewers may need to consider some changes in the scouting department. Go back and compare our 2009 draft to the Cardinals 2009 draft and you will be alarmed about the future of our team in the NL Central.
  16. Re: Catchers I hope we pass on Max Pentacost. First round catchers have a pretty terrible track record of success. Re: Pitchers If Brewers nab a pitcher, I hope it is Hoffman, Nola or Beede. I don't think the high schoolers available at #12 will be that much better than the ones available with pick #41 or #50. It's a deep draft for high school pitching. Kodi Medieros or Foster Griffin could slide in a dream scenario, but if not there should be guys like Joe Gatto, Justus Sheffield, or Keaton McKiney available. Re: Hitters I'm hoping this is the route the Brewers go with #12. Lots of nice power bats to be had at #12. Gatewood, Schwarber, Gallespie, Davidson, Chavis, Reed, etc. Re: Sliders There are exciting rumors that with a few surprise picks ahead of us, guys like Tyler Kolek or Aaron Nola have an outside chance to slide to our pick. I had read somewhere that our last game of the season win over the Mets in 2013 cost us to slide 4 draft spots. This makes me a little sick to my stomach, actually.
  17. You're not alone Patrick. Since I correctly (and joyfully) picked them taking Prince Fielder in 2002, I am hitting a bit of a dry spell on my Brewer 1st round draft predictions/wishes. 2003 OF Delmon Young (Weeks) 2004 RHP Homer Bailey (Rogers) 2005 OF Cameron Maybin (Braun) 2006 OF Travis Snider (Jeffress) 2007 OF Jason Heyward (LaPorta) 2008 LHP Christian Freidrich (Lawrie) 2009 3B Matt Davidson (Arnett) 2010 OF Josh Sale (Covey) 2011 RHP Sonny Gray (Jungmann, Bradley) 2012 3B Joey Gallo (Coulter, Roache) 2013 Anyone but Kyle Lohse (Lohse) 2014 3B Jacob Gatewood (??????)
  18. I don't think Schwarber will be off the board when the Brewer pick comes along. I think Toussaint is more than likely gone by then, however. I don't think he will make it past the Blue Jays two picks. If the Brewers are gonna go with an arm, what do you guys think about the Brewers selecting RHP Jeff Hoffman at 12? He was a top 3 draft talent before his TJ surgery. It's a risk I'd like to see the Brewers take at that point. To me it is no more risky than picking a high school pitcher in that range. (like Holmes, Reid-Foley, Adams, Medieros, etc)
  19. Thanks Patrick. I'll try to tune in to check it out. It looks like you and your draft knowledge are a hot commodity! As you rise up the ladder to stardom, don't forget about the little guys. Thanks for being a guest on the draft episode of our TV show a few times (2006 thru 2008). I was the producer of The Brew Crew Review (2004-2012) Former brewerfan.net username- Pudster13
  20. The draft is far to fickle to fire a scouting director for missing on one LATE first round pick. To Seid's credit, he supposedly did have Mike Trout on top of his board, but missed him by one pick.
  21. 2011 class will end up being just as bad as 2009, IMO. 2012 has the potential to be also just as bad, although Coulter and Haniger could save it. 2013 has promise but since Wiliams and Neuhaus were drafted as high schoolers, that class also has the potential to produce zero major leaguers. I really miss Jack Z.
  22. Totally arbitrary scouting director exercise If you were Brewers scouting director, who would you select out of the following players on your draft board: 1. 1B Kyle Schwarber (50% chance of becoming a hitter comparable to Travis Hafner) 2. 1B Casey Gallespie (40% chance of becoming Mark Teixera) 3. 1B Braxton Davidson (30% chance of becoming Justin Morneau) 4. 3B Jacob Gatewood (20% chance of becoming Giancarlo Stanton) I realize that my percentages are probably even too high, but all the fun of the draft is the inflated sense of hope and optimisim... I'm know I'm a gambling man when it comes to upside, but I'd rank my board... Gatewood Gallespie Davidson Schwarber How would you rank them?
  23. Lucroy is probably as valuable to an organization as Posey if you factor in both hitting and defense (pitch framing). Brewers should not be drafting for need, IMO. Schwarber reminds me of Travis Hafner. He can hit and I like that he is lefthanded, but I wouldn't want Hafner on an NL team. His body type suggests a shorter MLB career, IMO. Gallaspie is underrated right now, IMO. I have heard a comp of Mark Teixiera on him, but that might only be because he is a switch hitter. I think he can be a middle of the order hitter at MLB level. I still think Gatewood is going to be better than either of them though. A cross between Manny Machado and Giancarlo Stanton. I also think Braxton Davidson could be as good as Justin Morneau.
