  1. I think most things are OK on walk-offs. I think most teams don't really care unless it's something over the top (maybe like the Prince bomb on home plate a few years back and all his teammates falling over. I thought it was funny, but figured it'd earn a beaning.)
  2. Man, was McKenry angry. That pitch missed its location by about a foot. Surprised they gave him a fastball anyway on the first pitch. Edit: Spelling.
  3. WIINNNNERRRR! Gotta admit, I thought they were gonna blow it. So glad I was wrong!
  4. That off-speed pitch defines Rickie's career to me. He's just never been able to adjust to it.
  5. He definitely looked safe to me. It looked like it was his hands, then chest, abdomen and knee, none of which I saw go off the bag. He definitely beat the tag the first time as well. I don't get it. I saw nothing that could possibly overturn, but I could have used a couple more looks at replay.
  6. Wow, what a terrible pitch, Kintzler. Gotta bury that slider. Man on second, no outs. This is worrisome.
  7. I could be wrong, but our starting pitchers do not seem to be so great at holding on runners (except for Lohse.) There's quite a few times when Luc doesn't even have a shot to throw anyone out.
  8. That stinks. Misplay on Morneau's fly ball, Tulo hits a single off the end of the bat, Dickerson somehow gets on top of a ball towards his eyes and hits it up the middle, then a nice strikeout and a really bad hanger. Oh well, that's baseball. Plenty of time left at least, but that was a punch in the gut. Especially after Lucroy hit one hard but it wound up as a DP the last half inning.
  9. Sorry if this has been posted, but I didn't see it. I was looking to see how many games Evan Marshall got suspended, and maybe if Gibson did too, but it turns out neither of them have to miss any games. How in the world is that possible? That was one of the more obvious plunkings I've seen. Marshall did get fined, however. http://www.azcentral.com/story/sports/mlb/diamondbacks/2014/06/21/evan-marshall-suspended-hitting-ryan-braun/11229093/
  10. Aaand I think that's gonna lead to a sweep. Estrada v Strasburg does not exactly breed confidence...
  11. Sometime after Overbay and Maldonado but before Gennett or Braun. Beat me to it!
  12. I had no cable/internet till the bottom of the 8th (somebody decided to drive a car into a pole or something this morning). Thanks to extras, I have almost gotten a full game's worth of frustration!
  13. Those last three at bats - that's the Braun we're used to seeing. Hope this is the start of a hot streak for him.
  14. I can't remember the last time I saw Luc fail to advance a runner twice in one game! I am definitely not complaining though. Luc has been money this year.
  15. At least Ryan is conscious of the fact he's not hitting well right now (as he said a week or two ago). I think a lot of it has to do with him finding himself down in the count along with fouling off pitches he usually connects with. It does seem like a more prolonged slump than I can remember from him, but I have faith he can turn it around. With Davis coming alive, Segura showing some signs of life, Ramirez looking good after coming off the DL, and Luc as hot as he is, it'll be interesting to see what happens to the offense once Braun gets back to his usual form.
  16. Wow. Well, I was a proponent of giving Estrada the hitch after 3. He's really settled down, kept us in the game (after a terrible start), and kept the bullpen from having to eat up too many innings. So bad/good job, Marco! I'd still rather see Nelson out there every five, but I like the way Estrada battled (*shudders*. I literally cringed saying that...)
  17. Anybody remember this game? http://scores.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=240428108 Yes! That was an amazing game after the one where Moeller had the cycle and Hall hit a walkoff homer after Moeller reached on an error with two outs in the 9th (he already had the cycle in the bag at that point.) Crazy couple of days. Edit: I'd just like to add that walk-off HR Hall hit was one of the hardest hit home runs I'd seen up to that point. It really never got too high and just whistled over the fence.
  18. Yeah, I'm sure the averages aren't great or anything, but even compared to Braun's previous years, his averages down in the count are well off the norm for him. And as you said, he needs to just be more patient and swing at strikes. It feels like right now he'll get down 0-2 or 1-2 after either fouling off the first pitch, then watches the second one go in for a strike (or vice versa) - then he has to go more into protect mode. I think he's been getting some good pitches to hit early in the count, but his timing or something is a little off right now, causing him to foul off pitches he usually hits hard. I'm not overly concerned right now though.
  19. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.cgi?id=braunry02&year=2014&t=b At the bottom of the pitch/count section, there's stats for batter ahead, pitcher ahead, or even count when the ball is put in play. Thank you! Wow, his 0-2, 1-2 and 2-2 counts are particularly bad this year. His 0-2 hitting was never good (well, 2012 it was .204), but it looks like 1-2 (.240-.250 and 2-2 (.260-.280) were a lot better the past two years than in 2014 (0-2: .087, 1-2: .186, 2-2: .136.) Even full-count he's only .167. Gotta believe he'll start turning some of those numbers around. I hope.
  20. It didn't happen last at-bat, but overall this year it seems like Braun has been down in the count a lot more than previous years. I'm curious if that's true? Is anyone able to find that information? Or what his average is down in the count compared to past years?
