  1. Everyone needs to relax. It's just Spring Training, once the season starts we'll be fine. Our starting pitching is rock solid. I can't wait for the '15 season!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Could there be some other piece that has to move before this deal gets done? Could they be moving Jonathan Broxton for example?
  3. If Braun is out there are also 9 inter squad road games between games 50 and 72, so we will need a DH - I could see him playing in 60 - 65 of the first 72 games then we can trade Aoki, Morgan or Gomez for something we need or move Hart to first, if Gamel struggles.
  4. Reports are surfacing that Braun potentially has an STD and was taking totally legal drugs to combat it. This caused the spike and his appeal will overturn the ban. Probably explains what Mark A. called it a "personal issue." I would not like to be the guy or organization that leaked this story. Have you ever heard of HIPPA laws? I don't think a settlement will completely off-set the sigma, but I am sure Braun will make these people examples in a big way if these reports are true.
  5. No that there is an actual weigh in, but what do you think the weight talk will be this spring. The last time he focused on his weight pre-season, in my opinion, was 2009 and the club listed him at 268. I am guessing he'll be under that, since Boras is probably making sure that isn't more of a point of contention then it needs to be.
  6. Great deal. Now we don't have to watch dougy acquire 5-7 "power arms" to try and find lightening in a bottle and be hostage by this need. We will make better trades and signings, acquire better players with the box checked at closer.
  7. Now that Boston is in the Halliday mix, this brings us in the fold on two accounts in three way deals. JJ to Blue Jays or JJ to Boston, if Jed Weaver gets packaged in the deal. I don't think Buckholtz comes our way, but we could be the glue here.
  8. I think Bannister, Penny or Washburn are more likely than anything else.
  9. Not claiming that this is happening...but teams could utilize this rule to get out of a bad year and into a better year. I am surprised that there are not some ramifications, even if they are small, for not signing the pick. Bill Belchick would exploit the hell out of this rule.
  10. 4 @ FLA (2-2) 3 @ ATL (2-1) 3 vs COL (3-0) 3 vs CWS (2-1) 3 @ CLE (2-1) 3 @ DET (1-2) 3 vs MIN (2-1) 3 vs SF (2-1) 3 vs NYM (2-1) Braun 7 Prince 10 Cameron 3 20HRS 18-10
  11. Could the Peavy deal be a three way? Gwynn Jr. to SD?
  12. Maybe DeRosa for one of the PTBNLs from last year. We'd probably need another guy to balance it. Or throw in a Designated Tweeter to assist Gord.
  13. What an awesome story for such a down team. Aside from having a name worse than Mine then Bird, I am awe struck. We can't trade for him, but can we adopt him as a small market hero? Go Greinke Go.
  14. I'd love to get this guy, not sure if he'll be available. The Bucs traded their two best player last year. Think with Bay playing as well as he is for the BoSox, they might be in a bad PR spot to make a deal on a guy they have wrapped up for two years.
  15. it is a win-win-win right now... Gamel is working with Money, the Brewers are playing well and Hall is increasing his stock as an everyday player worth his millions. I could see the opening a spot for Gamel at the deadline, but not earlier.
  16. Love the Power 50. Can you all add a column that tells us how they were acquired? like D-2007-R4, 2005 - FA or T - principal Brewer player. I always want to know how we got these guys when I review the list. Thanks for your consideration and a thousand thanks for putting the list together regardless.
  17. I was watching and when Brently said they should drill Braun (and though he didn't say it that way, he said exactly that) I turned it off and turned on Uecker. Such a more enjoyable experience and we definately dodged a bullet by not hiring Brently. Dolt is a good word for the way he acted this weekend. Just speculating, I would bet his producer or WGN talks to him about that comment and the amatuerish comment about Milwaukee from the day before. I am bummed, because I like watching Cubs games here and now I can't stand the guy.
  18. We are kind of like a college team in that regard, most graduate and we need to invest in them. My biggest fear is that the pitching comes around in 2012 and we have no sticks. It is a tricky fate, but were looking good for the next couple years at least, so let's enjoy.
  19. I would agree with you at if we weren't talking about SS. Getting to a ball or two a game at SS is a big deal and that is the difference between above average and excellent. Contracts aside, this would be a tough decision, contracts included, this is a no-brainer. I love JJ, but his time here is limited due to Escobar, small market economics and his desire to stay at SS long term.
  20. IMHO, Escobar was considered for the stretch run last year at 2b. They either didn't have the guts to do it or had too much foresight, however you want to look at it. This year, if they give up on Weeks or Weeks gets hurt, Escobar, will be brought up to play 2nd. In 2010 Escobar will be the SS, no doubt about it. He is Omar Vizquel all over again. He'll get to a ball a game that JJ or 90% of SSs wouldn't touch and he has a bigger arm. Hardy will be dealt in the offseason, since that is when his value will be highest. If he agrees to playing 3rd for a season, then Melvin might take the run at the Series, with Prince and Hardy in their final year.
  21. How'd Prince look last night? Could you tell one way or the other?
  22. I heard on WTMJ that Hardy was guaranteed that he'd not be moved from SS, which ends some speculation.
  23. http://hirejimessian.com/.../winter-meetings-preview/ This is some creative Cub bashing and they get a decent jab in on the Crew - Can't find the words to describe this, you just have to watch it.
  24. I'd be up for one more of those month long hot streaks.
