What if Phils waive Jenkins?

Now that the Phils signed Ibanez and still have lefty swinging Greg Dobbs and Matt Stairs as bench players their roster what are the chances the Phillies eat the $8 million they still owe Geoff?

 

Can anyone foresee a role for him back on the Brewers (assuming the Phils have to pay most of his contract) like occasionally filling in for Hart against some right handers.

I would take Jenkins back as a 4th outfielder.

It's tempting, but he really didn't hit righties that well last year. They struck him out 23% of the time. I think bringing him back this year will look like a step backward which would draw considerable criticism. Maybe in a couple years, but not in 2009.

Really not that interested, unless he was exceptionally cheap. He was not very good at all last year for the Phils.

I'd pass. I don't see what use he would be -- I hope that Braun and Hart are playing most the time, and I think we could find a cheaper (Gabe Gross!) option to be that 4th OF.

I think I'd been down on Jenkins for probably 5 years, so I can't say I'd want him back. He's a defensive liability, doesn't hit for average, doesn't hit for power. Really, all he has going for him at this point in his career is a strong arm in the outfield.

Or could be me as I feel he stole money from the Brewers. But then again I'm the biggest Sheets hater on this site.
