  1. Jopal, your data is kind of inflated because you decided to start with 2015...which had nothing to do with the current contract. Not sure why you did that. If you want to make an argument of why it wasn’t that bad using 2016-Present would make sense. He has barely average 2 WAR in 4 years. Half of his WAR in those 4 years was in the first year. The last three simply have not been that great. Look, there isn’t any need to sugar coat it. It wasn’t a good idea and ended up predictably bad. People should not want to repeat the same exact mistake again with Yelich. Let some other team take that reckless risk of giving him a big contract in his 30s.
  2. Just because the Braun contract didn't cause the Brewers to go bankrupt and dissolve doesn't mean it was a good idea or that we should do it once again.
  3. To be fair it wasn't reported Kobe King made said allegation...from what I have seen. That is being assumed.
  4. Trust me, I know. I have bought Cubs tickets direct or for other entertainment things. 12% in amusement taxes. LOL
  5. You know what doesn't look terrible? For some reason I don't think the Red Sox will mind that Price fell off a cliff. 1.98 ERA and 2-0 in the World Series.
  6. Justin Fields got immediate eligibility after claiming a baseball player used racial slurs against him. I believe that claim turned out to be true. That case seemed like he kind of found a technically to get immediate eligibility...as I don't think he really transferred because of that. An actual coach on the team the player played for? Yah, that will be an easy immediate waiver. By all accounts that is pretty terrible if it is found to be true. Of course we will see if anything comes of it.
  7. Wisconsin really loves living on the bubble. They will be something like 7th- 10th in the Big Ten...basically in a big dog pile towards the middle. Two of those teams next to them absolutely dismantled them. Not to mention 10 losses is getting a bit high at this venture. I think they are still in decent shape if they beat OSU, but if not things can get muddy fast. Lucky for the Badgers most of their tough games from here on out are at home. 13 losses is probably fine and maybe even 14 losses could be acceptable. Though if some of the teams around them go on a tear it could nudge the Badgers out. Feels like some Big Ten teams might end up fighting each other for one of the last spots.
  8. There is a reason that hasn't happened...those are the channels everyone wants and they include them with a bunch of trash you don't want so you can pay more. That is one of the nice things about the streaming services...a lot less garbage channels you don't even want.
  9. It makes no sense for the Brewers either. His incredible value is while he is cheap.
  10. I expect Stearns to do quite similar to this. Trade Yelich for another young stud like Verdugo plus some more. I mean Verdugo is arguably a 4+ WAR player potential himself...that certainly lightens the load of losing Yelich. Trade a year of Yelich for 5/6 of someone else. Yah it hurts you for a single year...but helps you exponentially for 4/5 after that. People can mention the Fielder situation, but they were looking to go all-in on 2011...to a severe extent. I highly doubt Stearns is going to sell the farm next offseason and sign a bunch of guys to make a singular great team. If Yelich is here in 2022 it is the working of Mark Attanasio, that is absolutely the only way in my mind.
  11. I doubt they let him play out the contract. I just don't think Stearns is willing to get a measly comp pick for him. If Stearns wanted to bank on the Yelich era that bad and go all in they would already be doing that. Not screwing around with washed up and/or average players at the corners etc. He would have signed a Moustakas and/or Grandal because how much they suck in 4 years is woefully meaningless. He would not have a rotation that is old/injury prone/Korean league wonders making up most of it. Nothing Stearns does really points to a willingness to essentially let Yelich walk for nothing.
  12. I think the Red Sox just answered that question. I get the vibe Stearns will probably trade him a year out regardless of our competitiveness.
  13. Oh shoot, I forgot they were the opening day opponent. Can't wait to buy the max in the presale to flip to cubbie fans on StubHub! I don't really think that is it though as I don't think there is any Wisconsin pre sale nor would that explain a pre sale for all regular season games. Sounds like they are done with that whole Wisconsin pre sale thing as it just embarrassed them more than actually do anything. I haven't seen them mention it.
  14. I don't think there is a lottery any longer. It is first come first served. Interestingly (as I didn't recall this in past years) SSHs are able to buy tickets to Opening Day and any other home game as part of a presale.
  15. It isn't that trucks are too big, but that everyone thinks they need a half ton truck. I am guessing the majority of the people driving a half ton really need a Chevy Colorado sized pick up. Heck many people with a half ton would get their needs met with a smart car...
  16. Well...not all of us live in Chicago. So your case is not very comparable to many. Where I live, to get all the channels I would want, I would need to get the middle tier cable package. After adding dumb monthly charges for HD boxes/DVR boxes and upgrading the internet to a faster speed it is about $190. Mind you this is the special intro pricing and it tells you it will be the standard price after the one year contract. I am sure it is notably more post one year. I can not bundle and instead do: internet for about $70 and Hulu Live with DVR/unlimited screens (what I currently have) for like $70. That is a total of $140. I will likely cancel Hulu entirely eventually. I don't watch that much TV and can always go to a family members house to watch the sports...or bar I suppose. As someone else mentioned YouTube has a lot of good content. Which is what I usually watch half the time anyway.
  17. That was my thought too. You are getting on a slippery slope trying to decide if his feelings were justified. What are they going to say, nope you shouldn't have had those feelings about that? Is the NCAA going to be as ruthless as fans and call him sensitive? Mental health is a pretty big push these days, especially on college campuses. If he takes that kind of stand, which from his explanation of why he left it seems that way, granting him a waiver seems kind of given. He probably needs to cite what Gard/others were doing, but I doubt it takes much for them to just grant the waiver. They may feel Gard didn't really do anything wrong, but still just side with King on the waiver issue.
  18. His argument will be Wisconsin pushed him out and/or what was going on effected his mental wellbeing that much. That might be part of the reason he left abruptly mid season. To me that probably will helps his case to get one. How the NCAA responds to that is anyone's guess. I don't know what evidence he will/won't have cause it is no ones business to really know. I don't think he is really a normal case because it isn't simply "the system wasn't the right fit". He felt he was being treated poorly etc. Not saying the Badgers wronged him, but King feels they did. If he can provide enough to make the NCAA agree then he will get the waiver. How strong his case is anyone's guess because no one knows what happened behind the scenes to make King walk out. I am sure they already know what loophole to transfer they want to use, that is usually how it works with a lot of these guys. The one problem he will have is usually the former team makes a big push for you to get one...thinking he may not get that support.
  19. One thing that I think is big is the meaningful of innings pitched. You can argue that almost every time Hader steps on a mound is very important. He is put into games when his production is almost a necessity. A starter, however, pitches every five days regardless. So at face value these guys pitched the following innings: Hader: 75 Scherzer: 172 Woodruff: 121 Verlander: 223 However, if your offense is scoring 6+ runs in a game your starter is probably not very meaningful. A lot of times your ace is totally wasted, the above three starters had 10 games combined where their offense scored 10 runs. The stats will love it and their value will rise, but really a bag of balls could have been the starter that day. I am just making a rough example here, but taking away each start where the offense scored 6+ runs this is what you have (estimated at 6 innings for each subtracted start): Hader: 70 (took away some as do believe he had some garbage time innings.) Scherzer: 106 (11 starts) Woodruff: 49 (12 starts) Verlander: 157 (11 starts) Now don't nitpick the numbers to death because really I am just trying to show a starter has a lot of value that isn't all that important. I am sure some of the games I subtracted you could go back and see that the starter may have been a huge part of that high scoring win. However, when people say a starter pitched 3x more than an elite reliever it is kind of misleading. Pitching a bunch of innings in a blowout adds to the stats, but didn't actually provide much value. The only thing it would potentially help is resting the bullpen, but that is pretty hard to track. Interestingly though, it seems Hader probably was more valuable and pitched more meaningful innings than Brandon Woodruff. Woodruff had crazy run support in 2019.
  20. He will probably have a legitimate case for a waiver...just a guess. Not sure he will get it, but I am sure he will put together an argument. Probably centered around his mental health and not feeling comfortable at Wisconsin to the point he could not continue to even finish the year. It will probably be a stronger argument than a lot of waivers I have seen granted.
  21. Because rarely do people need that much bed space and people much prefer cab space over bed length. While some manufacturers will do a longer bed and cab all it does is make it more expensive, harder to turn, not fit in the garage, and be difficult to park. It’s simply what people want/need these days, but your sense is true...they have gotten smaller.
  22. Why are there three shirseys online and 2/3 aren't even colors the Brewers wear? There is a UNC powder blue and a blue that is nowhere near as dark as the U of Michigan blue they are going to wear. I mean...at least the gray matches? There also isn't a cream one online that I am sure exists. I was kind of interested to see what that would look like.
  23. Can't really recall anything ref related. The slaps on the helmet weren't called for either team so it is pretty irrelevant to me. I am pretty sure there was another slap to JG other than the one you are referring to homer...but can't remember for sure. The delay of game is also irrelevant to me. Similar no calls happen all year long, pretty normal. There wasn't a whole lot in the way of close/questionable penalties...so the refs had a pretty easy day at the office. I think there was a hook/hold no call on the Chiefs...but it would have been somewhat ticky-tack in my opinion. The one that is being debated heavily today is that TD at the pylon. The call and decision not to overturn seemed pretty good to me. Looked like he stepped out and crossed the line at the same time. The NFL equivalent of a tie at 1B.
  24. I totally thought the same thing when I saw this news. haha
