  1. Except they didn't really make a big deal out of it. It was more like all of us and our wishful thinking blowing it way out of proportion. The one guy mentioned it about 2 weeks ago really casually. They then mentioned a press conference not even half a week before it was set to take place. Honestly I don't see where they made a big deal out of anything. They had a big project taking place and did a small press conference. Saying they were making an announcement about the largest capital project they've ever undertaken and having a press conference on the field with a fancy video all streamed live seems like a big deal to me. This was worth only a press release. Only a press release? Really? It is a pretty big deal just not the mind blowing ideas we were wishing for. It is a big overhaul to the concourses and hopefully clean them up as there are more portable stands than there should be. Not to mention more high quality food seems to be what a lot of fans prefer these days and more variety the better. I mean a custard stand? That's pretty tempting for me and I typically don't buy overpriced food at a stadium. And for those complaining they didn't put the money into the team they did just not directly. This is going to make them way more for the team than the initial investment.
  2. I don't understand what you are getting at Austin in your last paragraph. We sign Medeiros(#35 ranked) underslot to get Harrison(#21) and Gatewood(#22). Of course we could have taken Sheffield(#49), but unfortunately we didn't have a crystal ball back then. Sometimes it comes down to luck which guy you pick. At the end of the day you are scouting incredibly raw athletes. Why haven't we developed much pitching? Bad luck? Scouting? Development? Well probably a mixture of all three. I don't think we have been that bad outside of not developing TOR talent. Which is easier said than done for any team.

  4. Except you can't compare two different markets. Comparing the Miller Park beer costs to somewhere hours away doesn't work. You have to compare it to the local market around Miller Park.
  5. AJ Bombers has had custard since it was added to the ballpark. I vote for a Culver's stand just for the custard.
  6. Doesn't change my experience because I don't waste money on food inside the stadium. So I couldn't care less. Not shocked. If it was something actually cool it would have had more build up.
  7. I hate the criteria they use. Way too short of a time for a player to get inducted. A reliever or hitter can do it in 4 years. Honestly I don't find that a big contribution to Brewers history. Jean Segura was 236 PAs from being in the Walk of Fame. I am sorry, but that is nothing short of pathetic. It should take more like 6 years in my mind. At that point the player must have been decent and providing something to the organization. However 4 years could in theory cover 3 league minimum years and a first time arbitration year. So it may just be because they are cheap and that is why they were even around. It also could end up being some guy who is horrible, but since we signed him to a big FA contract he played a bunch for 4-5 years. I get they want it to include more people than a Hall of Fame would, but adding in guys like Axford plus nearly adding in Segura/Gennett may be including too much.
  8. Yes we were lucky this year. We actually should have won one more game according to the Pathagorean W-L on Baseball Reference. A team like the Rangers were lucky this year...not the Brewers who won as many games as they were suppose to.
  9. Gerardo Parra? He is a disaster with the bat and his defense is a joke. His offense has never been good and his defense has gotten so bad there is no upside whatsoever. Best case scenario he puts up 1 WAR...best case. With -4WAR in his last 600 PAs I think I will find a different way to waste money. We honestly probably have dozens of guys who could put up stats like Parra laying around.
  10. Best long term option in my opinion: 1) Pre-Season(right before season starts)/Mid Season(after draft)/Off-season(right after MiLB season ends) Right now doing one that goes into August makes one right after the season a bit boring. I like doing one right after the deadline, but the above set-up might make the best lists overall. The first list kicks off the season with winter moves or AFL performances, second adds a few draft picks plus allows us to move guys around after some performance, and the last list gives us a chance to rate guys after the entire season and add in the trade deadline guys.
  11. This, in my opinion, is why we were a somewhat competent team and not losing well over 90. If you look at where we ranked vs. teams picking in front of us in the 2017 draft it pretty much tells the story. With Thornburg and Smith/Jeffress the majority of the year this team just wasn't going to be that bad. https://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/team/_/stat/pitching/split/128
  12. Divisional Round Rangers over Jays Red Sox over Indians Giants over Cubs Dodgers over Nationals Championship Dodgers over Giants Red Sox over Rangers World Series Red Sox over Dodgers The bottom is going to drop out for the Cubs. Their top 3 starters all ended the season with poor starts and I believe that will repeat itself forcing them out early in Game 5 of the NLDS. I am also going with the bold move that the Giants will fend of Syndergaard and the Dodgers will finally win in the postseason. Historically 100 win teams fair horribly in the postseason. 10 out of the last 16 100 win clubs have failed to make it to the LCS. Not very good considering the amount of wins they had achieved.
  13. If Villar and Guerra played like garbage all year would you still want the 5 less wins? Why are Villar and Guerra playing like garbage all year a prerequisite for the Brewers winning fewer games? The Brewers could have easily lucked (or unlucked I guess) their way into 5 fewer wins with exactly the same production from those two. Because it doesn't really work that way. In reality to lose you must be worse not "lucky". 5 games is a pretty notable difference in the grand scheme of things. To lose you must sacrifice something. And cherry picking one run wins doesn't exactly work in reality because you win some of those and lose some.
  14. Could just be me, but I feel like Counsell really liked to pull starters early this season. If you weren't dominating getting pulled after 5 innings or if you ran into a jam in the 6th inning he wouldn't hesitate to pull you. This was really the case with Anderson and his stats will back it up. Look up his game logs and you will see he was often pulled early even if pitching well. Rarely ever threw 100 pitches and a ton of the times 85 or less.
  15. If Villar and Guerra played like garbage all year would you still want the 5 less wins?
  16. I could see them keeping Gennett and continue to float Villar around the diamond. I don't know if Villar playing second necessarily means Gennett will be traded. It isn't like he would get much of a raise off of league minimum as a 1st year arbitration player. A lot of fans seem to really lik him and he is a good guy so I might just keep him if no one really offers anything in a trade. Not like there is anyone demanding his roster spot at this point.
  17. So we hold onto him till July and if all goes right we still pay $14mil to Garza. ($6mil for the salary till we trade him and $8mil to dump him). Doesn't sound very appealing. I'd argue opening up the rotation spot is more valuable than the off chance we can get a few role player prospects.
  18. Well at least they figured out a better place for one.
  19. Huh? People buy jerseys all the time. It's not like everyone had a Braun jersey 10 years ago. Plus there are new fans to the game constantly. David Ortiz and Molina have been around awhile and his jersey is still selling. You find anything and everything to try to be condescending towards Braun. And anyone who really enjoys the guy you want to smear this crap at them. For the most part, it's just not true. I'm sure Braun sales are doing just fine for Milwaukee 9-10 years after his arrival. I bet we could sell more Puig jerseys than Braun ones next year Braun is very enjoyable to watch. I am just not a giant super fan and understand why it makes sense to trade him. Elite prospect coming back or not.
  20. Where did you get your numbers? They all are off from the ERA's I'm seeing. Not saying your point isn't right but just unclear on the numbers thing. He listed their FIP not ERA.
  21. You see a ton of Braun jerseys because everyone bought one half a decade ago and it isn't often people drop $100 on a jersey. Braun jersey sales are probably a drop of water in an ocean compared to what they used to be. Not to mention even when Braun is gone what will you see? Braun jerseys because it is probably the only one 90% of people own. What would be more important is jersey sales in the present which Braun likely leads now being the only All Star guy on the roster. But his sales probably don't reflect that of someone with his production and I doubt it is an amount we would be hurting over if we traded him. I am betting the last 3-4 years he has been outsold by Lucroy and possibly Gomez. About the only thing I could find but I'd be willing to bet he's still a prime guy for jerseys being sold. And if he goes to the Dodgers, they'll fly off the shelf in LA if he's hitting like he is. Keep trying to dog the man though. Not dogging Braun at all. It is a fact. You going to buy a Second Braun jersey if they keep him? You think people who haven't bought one in the first 10 years are going to buy one now? Of course not and it's not surprising sales of his merchandise increased after the suspension. It's like everyone wanting a Tebow jersey or wanting an Aaron Hernandez jersey. It is not something long term.

  23. Id go Perez on the shear fact Cordell has never played AAA. Puts the odds against him.
  24. He could have ended it after the first sentence. That is exactly what I was thinking and all that really needs to be said. Briggs likes to point out things that fit his argument. However he won't admit that some of the positives he listed were because we decided to rebuild, that we still wouldn't likely win 85 games, that Segura wouldn't turn it around here, that our starting rotation is a joke, or that if we were still trying to compete we would have held on to Gomez who has been horrid for the most part. No one likes a bias argument Briggs.
  25. Fair point. I guess what I mean is that it's part of the risk that we all know we're taking and I accept that risk. I think we all knew the positives that could come, just generally entertaining us the next 2ish years while team is blah, and the chance that he continues to hit for all the years of the contract and contribute while the team starts to win again. Probably won't be hitting 320 or anything by the end but 280 plus with 25ish homers is still a solid player. The risk is that he could get hurt or have a quick decline and then we have a year or two of a bad contract. Just saying that I accept that risk if no one is willing to give us legit prospects because we have no other salary. I will agree the risk of holding onto him payroll wise is low. His contract won't limit us from paying people. Not like if we were wasting $20mil on a player in 2011 or something with payroll maxed out. Which forthis reason, like you said, means we don't HAVE to trade him if we don't get what we want.
