  1. They should have been in the Super Bowl two years ago, but as we know Bostick happened. Who exactly do you want to put blame on? McCarthy? Thompson? Capers? The offense has been good, the defense is hit or miss, and Thompson still drafts really well. The Packers have it pretty good in those three. Its pretty easy to have worse and really hard to do better than that.
  2. The funniest thing about Manfred wanting to shorten games is the fact he also wants more offense. More offense would make games a lot longer.
  3. Another idea that doesn't make financial sense so it makes no sense. Regardless a blowout shortens the game a lot because everyone turns it off half way through.
  4. Who exactly are you referring to that is in the postseason?

  6. The passes weren't there obviously. They did a similar drive going into the half successfully. They also only had a single timeout because they lost one due to the Nelson(?) injury. If the passes aren't there they aren't there. The dink and dunk method works great if you have a successful outcome EVERY play. Once you burn 8 seconds going nowhere you need a big pass or you won't get the yardage in the time you have. The opportunities to make a completion weren't there and the Falcons pass rush was getting to Rodgers too fast. He didn't have the chance to make the "dink and dunk" play you wanted and had no time to escape the pocket to make a big play happen. Actually I really don't even agree he was trying to make a "big play". His furthest pass probably wasn't much farther than 20 yards down the field. I wish I could re watch it because I don't recall him ever throwing it past the 50.
  7. How could you possibly limit that? After the pitcher hits the limit time to take a giant lead because he can't throw over. Not going to work.
  8. It doesn't really matter who was driving to be honest. Either Fernandez was driving(bad) or one of the two other people were driving. The later is still just as bad because they were getting directions from a drunk guy on cocaine and neither of his friends even knew how to drive a boat. The crash is mostly if not all Fernandez' fault any way you want to spin it. Do you know for a fact that neither of his friends knew how to drive a boat? I am actually curious as I never read that. If he had someone sober behind the wheel I find it hard to be upset with him. He may have been giving directions minutes before the crash...or maybe seconds. I am not sure which. Your opinion that it is his fault no matter the circumstance is confusing to me. Yes it was reported neither had much, if any, experience driving boats. I saw it in quite a few articles. I would have to find one of the article when I have time. Allowing someone to drive your boat when they have no experience puts a lot of blame on yourself. Even more so if they aren't licensed to do so and it's required.
  9. They are a Super Bowl caliber team if they can get some of their secondary guys back. Having your Top 3 guys out is a recipe for disaster. Honestly I was pretty impressed with how they did considering the circumstances. It was bad as expected, but at least they gave Rodgers a chance to win a shoot out. How the offense played considering all the injuries was amazing. No running game at all, but Rodgers did what he had to do. Unfortunately the coin flip finish didn't fall our way.

  11. I honestly thought the Packers should have let the Falcons score once it go down to 1:30 left. They weren't stopping the Falcons and it was pretty obvious. Rodgers was red hit all night. Give him the ball back and give him time to get into field goal range. Oh well.
  12. Baseball games aren't long they just feel long and are slow paced. You aren't going to make people feel any better about the speed of the game no matter what you do. They can do all they want, but shaving 20minutes off a game won't do a thing. I am sure they will institute a pitching clock similar to what they have in the AFL which will hopefully help things a little bit. In the grand scheme of things the slow pace is a part of the game though.
  13. It's the Kluber/Miller duo that is killing the Cubs. If and probably when the Indians win the World Series those two should be co-MVPs. I knew going into the series the Cubs ticket was figuring out how to hit Kluber(cause hitting Miller doesn't happen). They haven't done that twice now. For that reason they are on the brink of a series loss.
  14. You are looking at the length of games in the postseason. That is extremely misleading. Way morepitching changes than a normal game by a lot.
  15. I guess that best way to learn is time watching the team and reading about them. I mean sure I could tell you, but I literally could go on forever. You can get a good idea who the best players are by just looking at last years stats and for upcoming players we always compile a Top25 Prospects list you can check out. Google is your friend. You can search and find a lot of the things you want to know. Maybe read through some of the threads on here. You won't learn it all in a day. It takes time to puzzle everything together. In my opinion it takes years of following the team and minor leagues to truly understand everything. Hopefully someone has the time to answer some of your specific questions. Welcome!
  16. I don't know what is most humiliating, but this is pretty humiliating so far.
  17. Wow FOX sucks!!! How many pitches are we going to miss in this series? I recall at least two pitches to start an inning missed because of commercials, 1 because they were to busy filming Maddon in the dugout, and now one showing depressed fans in the stands. I am probably missing a lot more too that I can't think of. What a joke.
  18. Gosh I dream of the Indians winning it at Wrigley Field. Indians have the Kluber/Miller duo tonight.
  19. Nope, I doubt any writers care. Most of them are openly supporting him after the latest news. Some people are even mad these results came out. Good job to the Marlins for already stating they were retiring his number before these results cane out. It was almost a given he was drunk and the cocaine(among other stuff) is the cherry on the top. Celebrating a man who was a cocaine addict and likely drove drunk all while killing two people. All just brushed off to the side because he was a good guy outside of those apparent issues....who am I kidding he is still a good guy because he is famous. He may have been a good guy outside of this, but so are a lot of people. If and when it's decided he was driving retiring his number and trying to remember him forever is a bit embarrassing. It's still tragic, but him being a hero...not so much.
  20. Let's provide context instead of painting Nottingham with the garbage-behind-the-plate brush like a lot of people do on this board. Tebow had a great jump. Fastball was in the dirt. Nottingham made a great backhand pick, relatively quick release on that type of pick then threw a strong one hopper on the money. And not an in-between difficult pick. It was far enough out in front that EVERY MLB infielder makes that play. The 2b who picked the ball brought his glove back and up upon picking it instead of taking it straight down. If he takes it straight down Tebow is easily out by 1-2 feet. Nottingham also looked much better behind the plate than his counterpart (Taylor Ward - 1st rd pick last year) It was a joke take a breather. He looked good last night, but unfortunately he wasn't getting anything in the dirt to really challenge him. So that was a bit dissapointing. His pitch framing skills seem to be solid.
  21. Keep the political garbage in the political forum. I laughed at his line. Mainly because its true. Its ok to throw some funny remarks around on occasion given it directly applies to a MLB ump and his illogical reasoning and blatant disregard of facts No seriously...take the political garbage elsewhere. On another note the article is borderline annoying because they found a extreme bias in Crawford to give an opinion. Ruins the entire article in my mind. I'm sure they could have found someone a little more thoughtful, but then again that wouldn't fit their intent to push the robot idea.
  22. Tim Tebow stole 2nd on Nottingham.
  23. So you want 2x or more than what Lucroy got, but with someone with half the value if that? That might be hard to pull off. On another note why should the Dodgers regret not getting Braun exactly? In all of the Dodgers NLCS losses they lost by 4+ runs. You honestly think Braun was going to create 4 extra runs over what they got out of their LFer in any of those games? Yah I doubt it too. Not sure if I'm reading this correctly but are you saying Braun is half the value, if that, of Lucroy? If that's what you mean then how is it that Puig + 2 very good prospects are coming back for Braun when we only got Brinson for Lucroy Well Braun's value largely depends on how much money one is taking back and that rumored return for Braun largely depends on the prospects that come in return. If those prospects were on the Cordell level then, yah, that isn't very good value. Before money is spoken for I would say Braun has half the value of Lucroy at best and once you eat some money maybe 75% of Lucroy's value...if that depending on what you think of Puig plus whatever those prospects are. Also keep in mind we are talking about the Lucroy-Indians deal not the Lucroy-Rangers deal which are very different. Point being Ryan Braun is not getting a package stuffed with more high ceiling young prospects than the Lucroy-Indians deal. Not even close.
  24. The winners will be revealed Nov. 8 on ESPN. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/207322712/gold-glove-award-finalists/
