  1. No it doesn't really make sense because Khris Davis can get us a better overall player. Sure they might not have the ceiling of Bundy, but what are the odds he can even develop at the MLB level and be an ace? I'd say it is extremely low and the health concerns are very big. I think you are missing the fact he is extremely raw and like you said we suck at developing pitchers? Are we going to magically do that now? The risk is way too much and you are totally missing the fact that it WON'T take Davis to get him. Why do you insist on trading more than you need to? Are you trying to tip the Orioles?
  2. First thought our need for a SP or our lack of need for an OFer doesn't effect Khris Davis' value. Why should we expect less because it makes sense to trade him? Regarding the thought of adding FAa similar to him...how much does a 120 OPS+ corner outfielder with 30+ homerun power make on the FA market? If Khris Davis, depending on that years market, could probably get 4/$50mil and probably more. People like their power these days. Khris Davis probably wont earn $20mil in the next 4 years.
  3. If you email the game used guys with the Brewers I bet they could find out if they were ever produced quite easily. I don't think they were produced, but you never know.
  4. Might be worthwhile? That would be highway robbery at it's finest. Pompey isn't that big of a prospect, but Segura is not good at all.
  5. Yes and no. I believe the Tigers would have to offer the player back and then they would be able to trade the player. I think this is what would have to happen. No you can trade Rule 5 picks, but the same rules apply once traded. Must stay on the 25 man roster all year. EDIT: Also a Rule 5 guy can be claimed on waivers too and another team can pick him up. There was an example of a player last season or the season prior where a Rule 5 pick was traded and claimed on waivers if I remember right.
  6. Says his Miami-area home so it is possible he lives outside city limits. It also says one bullet went in a field so that might support that claim. He also has a 10,000 square foot house so maybe another sign his house isn't in the city limits of whatever said city. EDIT: Seems as though he lives in Davies, Florida in a cramped area....so I agree, shocking he wasn't charged for that.
  7. I'd look to trade him to in the right deal. Straight up for Bundy is not that deal and most will agree way too much to give up.
  8. Cardinals are getting money and I am guessing quite a bit.
  9. I think Toronto has the system to do it if they wanted to. One time I remember hearing there was no chance we could ever trade for Greinke. Then a few weeks later we traded for Greinke. I think they could do it on prospects alone. Sure it would take like 5-6, but we could get multiple high ceiling players. Jonathan Harris, Max Pentecost, Vlad Guerrero Jr., and throw in two other nice complementing prospects. Ton of potential there and a lot of chances to hit big. They could also trade us Devon Travis and then fill 2B by other means. Once again I don't see the fit just for the fact they have Russel Martin, but they could put together a competitive package if they wanted too.
  10. Yah I don't get the match. Moving Lucroy or Martin off of the catcher position? Seems really dumb...maybe they would trade Russell Martin for salary relief/prospects? I can't fathom making one not play catcher.
  11. Did anyone read that Toronto Sun article? They mentioned something about us needing a CF and Ben Revere might be a good fit in a Lucroy trade. Made my day. [sarcasm]When is the trade finalized?[/sarcasm]
  12. No one was arrested and no one was charged. What do you want MLB to say? There really is nothing to say from their point of view. Both Ray Rice and Jose Reyes were arrested in their situation.
  13. That would be enough for Lucroy alone. Khris Davis will cost at least another 70-100 Top 100 guy + possibly some more minor pieces. Also they want a complementing piece for Josh Hamilton. While Khris Davis isn't a star he is too good to be on the smaller half of a platoon with Hamilton. Rangers won't give up what Khris Davis is worth when they only want to use him as a platoon player. I figure they are more interested in a short term FA solution.
  14. This is coming from the guy who wants Braun at 3B mind you.
  15. Thats what I always thought. I don't know of any special cases where that wasn't the case. Unless whether they get claimed or outrighted to the minors effects something to him. Maybe if Strong went through waivers they would have interest in a lefty rule 5 pick, but now they do see they lost him. Yah I don't know....I am in the same boat as you.
  16. I think that is the plan, but people have evolved it into a young CFer.
  17. You missed my point. Ozuna as part of the return plus prospects for Lucroy I saw it, but Ozuna would be a huge chunk of the return on trading Lucroy. By trading for Ozuna you are really pushing to contend earlier than what really should be the goal. Because if you don't end up competing with him or he doesn't put up 2014 numbers the Brewers are going to look really dumb and possibly set us back. I think it is too early for the Brewers to start looking at guys who have already burned up multiple years of service time.
  18. Nice thought...but the game is so analytical these days teams will buy into a player advanced stats and the eye test. Jonathan Broxton was straight garbage here, but the Cards still took him because his peripherals were still good and advanced metrics said he was having bad luck. Ideally though good stats in general is probably a better goal. More than possible he doesn'tt want a guy hacking it in CF all year, but you gotta think they figure out something to get Santana in the line-up.
  19. Downside with Gallo outside of the obvious is the fact that his service clock is ticking already.
  20. I don't think Santana's K numbers are that bad. He makes up for it with very good OBP skills that he has shown his entire professional career even in his first tastes of MLB action. Why would anyone want to trade a player who has held his own to start his career, was a top prospect before the season, and has .270/.370/.800 potential. That is the kind of player you hold onto. As long as we don't surround him with other high K players we should be just fine. Has the potential to be a very good #5 hitter or maybe higher if you are OK putting the power at the top of the order for his OBP skills(assuming he improves his average with experience). Corey Hart is a pretty good comp minus some power, but added OBP skills.
  21. Then trying to trade for Joey Gallo wouldn't make much sense would it?
  22. Well you can scratch the Dodgers trade and any future one. Reports say Aroldis Chapman shot up his house and choked his girlfriend. I would also like to say how sad it is that someone fired a gun into a wall 7 times and 1 time through a window and didn't get arrested when accused of domestic violence along with it.
  23. That would be the most logical thing. Especially since Santana is a better RF than him and Davis, despite a muffin of an arm, can't hack 1B. How dare you insult muffins.
  24. Would anyone put it past a new GM like Stearns to come in and trade Braun? That would be a bold screw you I want my own guys type move. Regarding Braun moving to first...we have wanted that for years I won't think that until someone comes out and says it.
  25. Exactly. I hate when people say that pro athletes are overpaid. If you were one of the less than .1% of the population that could do a job for a company that makes hundreds of millions of dollars a year directly because of what you do, you would want to be paid accordingly. Not sure what percentage it is but at one point MLB salaries were only half of the cost of running a franchise. I think it was some point early in the 2000's. There are a lot of employees beyond just the MLB players connected to a franchise. That time would still be now. The Brewers have slightly more than $200mil in yearly revenue and their payroll in a big year is about $100mil. So it is still 50% or below for most every team.
