I pretty much agree with RockCo. I'd let him walk as well unless we get at least one truly premier prospect There is no possible way I would let him walk for draft picks. Not after seeing A) what happened with Sabathia and B) seeing draft picks like Dykstra, Cody Adams, Frederickson, Seth Lintz, Brent Brewer, etc who were all high draft picks and busted. I'd rather take a AA guy with upside because a lot of draft picks never even make it that high.

If I were Jones I'd be really disappointed with the organization. From starting in AAA to relieving in AA? I don't get it. Yeah his numbers weren't great last season, but it was his first healthy season in years. I think they should have given him a chance in the rotation in Nashville.

I've never been a huge NHL fan because Milwaukee doesn't have a team. There are several teams I kind of like though, and the Blackhawks are one of them. I really wish that whole NHL thing would have worked out for Milwaukee back in the late 80's.

Perhaps to increase the return for Fielder we could throw in a prospect of our own. I've been wondering lately how we're going to handle Lawrie/Green/Gamel to go along with Weeks and McGehee. Or maybe an excess starting pitcher like Manny Parra or Narveson, though I certainly don't want to do that because I think they still have potential. And I'm not saying we're all of a sudden going to bring back 3 top of the rotation starters if we add Taylor Green, but teams may be willing to go a little higher to get Fielder knowing that even if they can't resign him they'll have a top 10 prospect as well. Maybe Fielder and Green for two young starting pitchers and a solid A ball position player?

Still a very humorous concept and a show I can get on board with. If you don't take it too seriously it's very entertaining. Having local experts show off weapons that haven't been used in decades and seeing just how much damage they can afflict. Some of the weapons you're like "well that looks pretty weak", and then they use it and it smashes a cow's skull. Obviously if someone thinks "well that's dumb when would a Knight ever fight a pirate", then they won't enjoy it, but they'd also be missing the concept. I can't wait to see these new episodes.

Back for season two starting next week. The first episode is winners from season one facing off against each other and then the first new matchup shows an American SWAT team going up against a German GSG-9 squad. I can't wait.

Why is Greg Zaun still in the lineup? If Macha wasn't going to bunt him there I would have just preferred they skipped right over him and called him out.

Well it seems that with Weeks and Lawrie at second, and McGehee, Green, and Gamel at third, something will have to be done. Only Weeks is approaching free agency and would leave the team in some other way than a trade, though I would like to him extended for a few more years. I think someone, either Gamel, McGehee or Lawrie moves to first, and there is also a chance Gamel could move to the outfield. Either way though, it looks like someone is going to have to go. I really like Taylor Green and think he'd be a great asset at the top of the lineup.

I realize it's very early, but Taylor Green is off to a nice start offensively. He's in his second season at AA now and I don't see any reason for him to spend the entire year there. Mat Gamel had pretty much a lost year last year and needs solid at bats this year. So if Green is still hitting over .300 at the break with good secondary numbers, and Gamel still doesn't have a regular spot in Milwaukee, what do you do? I'd hate to keep Taylor Green in Huntsville all year because I think he deserves a chance to move up. So do you keep him in Huntsville? Do you move him up and let him play second base and keep Gamel at third? To you move him up to play third and have Gamel play first base or outfield?

This entire situation doesn't make any sense. Villanueva doesn't deserve to be sent down. Narveson doesn't deserve to be in the bullpen. Suppan doesn't deserve to be in the rotation. So what does Macha and Co. do? Narveson in the bullpen. Suppan in the rotation. And Villanueva is likely to get sent down. -
Not even to mentioned Tex and Mauer are probably both better overall players than Fielder. He's nuts if he thinks he'll get $180 million.

Now that Gallardo is out of the way, and with everyone still talking about a Fielder extension, I was wondering what everyone thought about extending Weeks. He has tons of potential, but hasn't lived up to it yet, mainly because of injuries. Would now be a good time to sign him to a 4 year deal, before he has his breakout season? Or does the fact that our top prospect plays second base make him expendable? My thoughts on this are yes, sign him. I still consider extending Fielder to be a very unlikely scenario. That will leave some money. Sign Weeks. First base can be solved either by moving Gamel to first or moving Lawrie to first (and probably have to have a one or two year stop gap, depending on when Fielder would get traded). I think Escobar and Gomez could handle the 1 and 2 spots in the lineup in the future which means Weeks can move down to 5 or 6 and utilize his power a little more. But since Fielder would be gone, in my opinion, I think you need to sign Weeks to keep as much of the offensive core together.

I made a similar post in the draft thread. Wisconsin and BC sure look depleted offensively. I'd still think the Brewers follow the BPA philosophy for the draft, but I hope the best player available is a college bat. Some of the draft guys don't think it's likely though as it's a weak draft for college bats. Other than the two you listed, Kentrail Davis has a pretty high ceiling I think. He started out in A+, which even Lawrie didn't do and even though it's only been a few games he seems to be holding his own. A lot of people seem to be excited about Scooter Gennett too. Plus guys like Cain, Schafer, Green, and Gindl, while maybe not future all stars, I think can have very solid careers.

I also hope that instead of being pigeon-holed into the closer role, he is instead is used in the highest leverage situations.It would help the team more, and protect him from the emotional roller coaster that is closing. I don't think you should consider it "pigeon holing" when talking about the closers role. The closer's job, while it may mean less innings, I think is more important. If a 7th inning guy blows a lead, you still have two innings to come back to tie or take a lead. If the closer blows a lead, you either have to play extra's or you lose. Plus, the closer usually gets the inning, no matter what. If a 6th or 7th inning guy, or even an 8th inning guy, gets into trouble, he's gone. The Brewers over the years have seen how important it is to have a solid closer. We all feel much better with someone like Hoffman in that role than someone like Gagne or Villanueva. I can certainly see your point that you don't want to limit your best pitcher to that one role, but I think it's a very important role. It also puts a lot of pressure on the other team if you have a dominant closer, knowing that they likely have to tie the game or take the lead by the 8th inning, not the 9th. That's why it's nice to see the Brewers developing some dominating relief guys like Braddock and Wooten. I hope Mike Jones excels in that role too, even though I was disappointed he got switched.

If I were you I'd call the police in your jurisdiction and flat out ask them. And get the name of the officer you talk to just in case something happens and the police say you weren't allowed to do it.

He called Jordy Murray, Jordy Murphy. Yeah that was it, sorry. I think he was talking about Craig Smith right when I was typing that so I said Craig instead of Jordy. This game is getting ugly. 6-0 now. Hopefully RIT doesn't resort to taking cheap shots at Badger players and injuring someone. I'd almost consider putting Brett Bennett in for the third period.

I've always like Gary Thorne as a hockey announcer but he's irritating me a bit so far. Mispronouncing names (Ben Grotten, Craig Murphy) and his calling the Badgers on the power play a good 20-30 seconds after they power play ended.

After looking at the rosters for both Wisconsin and Brevard County, it really makes me think the Brewers need to draft a power hitter. A first basemen would be great, but that is a position that's pretty limited in terms of the players moving anywhere else. I think a third basemen would be good too, or a corner outfielder with some pop. Even a solid shortstop would be a good. But it seems like as the pitching keeps moving up, the offense at the lower levels is struggling to turn out any real high level prospects. Kentrail Davis seems to be the best one below Huntsville, and he hasn't even played a professional inning yet. Would the Brewers even consider taking a bat with this being such a good year for college pitchers?

I honestly don't think it's reasonable to expect the Brewers to sign Fielder anymore. They'll make an honest effort, but it will get blown out of the water by someone else. The Yankees may sign him just to spite Mark A. I'm really glad they got a deal done with Yo though. I honestly think he is more important to the future of the Brewers than Prince is, even more so if they can get a decent return for Prince.

We'll never really know how he would have turned out had he not been traded, but I agree with the consensus in that the result was certainly worth the cost. I wonder, though, if we would have been better off trading Gamel instead of LaPorta. Gamel really struggled last year (although I blame a lot of that that on Melvin and Macha calling him up just to sit on the bench) and is off to a bad start this year with the injury. LaPorta would probably be playing right field right now if he was still in Milwaukee. On another note involving the trade, remember how Cleveland got to choose between Lucroy, Green, Cain, and Brantley? Are we satisfied here with their selection? Obviously Green and Cain have struggled with injuries, and I think we are all glad they didn't take Lucroy. -
What is Logan Schafer's natural position? I just ask because on the first roster list Lorenzo Cain was listed as the centerfielder, but I thought Schafer was a center fielder too so I was wondering who would switch positions.

In all honesty there isn't a whole about about that roster that I am excited about. Scarpetta and Peralta are two of my favorite pitching prospects, and I am interested to see how Kentrail Davis does so I will follow those three, but offensively just not a whole lot of top notch prospects. I am actually a little surprised Brett Lawrie isn't playing in BC.
