  1. 6 for 56 coming into this game but yeah, this one game makes the difference.
  2. Ohtani, Schwaber, Duval and others among them. Not exactly traditional lead-off options. I'd say that their OPS is indicative of their ability to produce and thus worthy of more at bats. Obviously .700 is an arbitrary number but the fact that most teams deploy a lead-off hitter with a number significantly higher than that and that Turang was one of the lowest on the list is contrary to the argument that he is "suited" to lead-off.
  3. A couple more and I'll feel pretty good about this one. Some much better at bats today.
  4. I guess the offense has its one big swing for the game. Now its up to the pitching staff to hold it down.
  5. Turang single-handedly saved that inning.
  6. His glove, however, is as good as it gets.
  7. Its about next year but I thought it was a shrewd move.
  8. More happy with the Myers shut down inning than the Bauers bomb.
  9. Which is severely impacted by his plummeting OBP which is a primary factor in OPS.
  10. Oooh, Cubs get Paredes from the Rays.
  11. Homer, double and HBP and still a far better inning than Peralta has put together lately.
  12. I get blacked out for all Marlins and rays games. VPN is an amazing thing.
  13. Looking at about a dozen games today and the Braves, Cubs and White Sox are the only teams that had a lead-off hitter with an OPS under .700, The VAST majority of those were well above .700.
  14. So a commonly used metric to gauge a hitters effectiveness is not way to evaluate weather that hitter should get more at bats than other hitters that perform better in that metric? No, that seems weird.
  15. Turang is the only guy in the line up with an OPS under .700.....and he hits lead-off.
  16. Just like last year. They may eventually get to the playoffs but it will be another quick exit.
  17. I am positive this team is in a tailspin
  18. Didn't give runs right back after taking the lead, I guess that is positive. Wish the offense hadn't hit the snooze button again.
