I was thinking the same about the Brewers considering their top 4 had pretty much the same stat line.

Why would the Brewers be concerned? It think the Brewers are pretty damn confident right now knowing the Rays MUST win this game. The Brewers made plenty of blunders. If Bunty doesn't trip himself or we get an extra hit there or there, or Mitchell catches that ball, or Turang makes a better throw the Rays aren't even in that game. The Brewers wake up knowing they handed the Rays everything they had and offered up the game on a silver platter and still won. The Rays didn't push the Brewers. The Brewers pushed the Brewers.

Basically the narrative is that the Rays punted game one to have better advantage in game two. Some on this board think its strategy. Others think it was dumb.

Sure, but they also wake up knowing they are down in the series and HAVE to in this game in order for that to come to fruition. And they have to dit while facing a pretty damn good pitcher. Henderson may be our number two but that doesn't make him second rate. Why would the Brewers not be waking up with optimism about being up 2-0 after tonight?

Excactly, all the pressure is on the Rays tonight. If they don't win the is little game 1 punt is going to look awfully bad and will probably cost them the World Series. Even if they win, it probably doesn't materiallly cahnge much of anything.

Exactly. This feels like a blunder they are trying to spin into a win. The Rays had every opportunity to win this game and they just chose not to? I'm just not buying the narrative. All the data and film and fancy batting cage machines and the three "special" relievers the Rays have need to be hiddin for one game?

And thats fine until you talk about King, Skubal, Yamamoto, Snell and Glasnow. This isn't the Gaurdians lineup. Maybe Rasmussen wins but it is beyond me why they would be feeling good about winning a series in which they are already down. Sure, I expect them to say the things they are saying. What else are the Rays supposed to say. Contrast that to the Brewers. What are they saying?

They can have all the feels they want. I'm sure the Dodgers had the same feels after a close game 1. The games still have to be played and the Brewers have beat better teams and better pitchers routinley this post season. All of a sudden we are scared because game one was tight? Why is it an automatic thing that Rasmussen is going to dominate?

So they played a blinder to put themselves in a position where, historically, the losing team loses the series 65% of the time?

Exactly. Its difficult to say the Brewers were lucky but not the Rays. A ball glancing off of Mitchell's glove and a spike off a base by a millimeter or the Rays don't score.
