  1. You have to pick your poison like they did with us. He was shooting 12 pct from 3 going into game 4. If he's going to hit 7 of 9....we really don't have an answer for that. It's frustrating as hell, but I don't know what the alternative is without letting Kawhi score unimpeded every other time down, a much more likely scenario if you're not going to rotate and double on him when he gets into the restricted area.
  2. Nobody else's wall has a Kawhi brick either. Let's not forget that. He's phenomenal and gets to adjust to playing the same guy 6-7 times. Something he has a lot more experience doing than Giannis does. It's scary to think what Kawhi could be if he had the heart Giannis has. I get he's been better this series and Giannis has had some of his flaws exposed, but his effort has NOT been an issue this series at all. Kawhi on the other hand is a lock down defender...he was on Middleton most of the game, but it doesn't matter, whoever he's on, he can almost completely shut them down. And then on the other end he can get to the restricted area and hit his FT's as well as just about anyone, and he's dangerous from 3. He's physically built like Bledsoe if Bled was about 6 inches taller. That ridiculous wing span and first step([sarcasm]although he apparently hasn't had any lateral quickness due to his Willis Reed like injury this series[/sarcasm]).
  3. You still want to give Middleton a max contract? What is the alternative? You go cheap with him and try and save 3-4 million a year and you lose your only other All-Star and you risk losing Giannis next season. And if you keep Giannis, you're still not going to have any cap room after he signs the supermax a year from now to sign anyone. So you'd better hope you find a guy who's 6'8, plays really tough D and can score.
  4. The level of intensity goes up. Giannis starts tightening up and playing more out of control. I can't think of ONE single great player who's gone from not winning a series to carrying his team to the NBA Championship. Magic would be the closest and he had Kareem. Jordan had to go through Detroit and get the crap beat out of him. They did something similar, they just hammered him when he got to the line. LeBron had to get through Boston and their big 3. Every great has to overcome some part of their game that's lacking. With Giannis, his shooting touch, even from 8-10 feet needs work, and he needs to stop forcing things without a plan while running into the paint out of control.
  5. I wouldn't say Lopez was a liability. I think this series is already over if it wasn't for him. He was plus 11 tonight. He had a big game. Hill was -22, worst on the team. Now one game certainly doesn't change things, but Lopez helped keep us in the game. And we're not giving Hill 19 million next year. It's just a stupid, pointless conversation. Not unless we let Brogdon who's 7 years younger walk along with Middleton and likely one of Mirotic/Lopez.
  6. I'm so....sick of hearing about how much heart Kawhi has. This injury that he's playing through in Jordan-esque fashion looks like total and completely horse crap to me. He's too great of a player for people to need to make so many GD excuses for the guy while he's playing. It's like they've got to make what he's doing more impressive than it is(which is plenty impressive).
  7. I'm not giving up on them just yet. I thought it'd be a 6 game series, it'll be a 7 game series. I am. This team doesn't have the fortitude to win in their house. Not right now anyway. You may be right. We assumed that a great regular season meant we were the best team and Giannis had already locked up the title of best player in the world. Obviously it's going to take a monumental effort and all the pressure is on us, but like I said, I'm not giving up on this team just yet. It's a 7 game series. We've lost 3.
  8. I'm not giving up on them just yet. I thought it'd be a 6 game series, it'll be a 7 game series. No way. They're not winning in Toronto with their entire season on the line if they couldn't even protect their homecourt. Doubt it is even a single digit game. It's over. We'll see. There's been a lot of great series that have swung back and forth. I'm not writing this team off just yet.
  9. They choked and VanVleet didn't. If I was gonna pick a supporting player to go off from 3, it would have been Powell or Green, NOT VanVleet.
  10. I'm not giving up on them just yet. I thought it'd be a 6 game series, it'll be a 7 game series.
  11. I'd say that's a big part, but VanVleet who couldn't buy a shot...who looked most lost than Bled has ever looked this post-season goes off for 7 of 9 from deep. That's just a back breaker.
  12. And the refs decide THIS is the time to swallow the whistle? When we blast Lowry? Un-real.
  13. Heading into the game if you say VanVleet's shot from 3 is going to decide the game, I'm putting just about everything on the Bucks. Jesus.....
  14. That's a wrap if we don't score quickly on the other end.
  15. HUGE possesion here...need a big stop!
  16. To be fair, Brogdon has come off the bench prior to this game. But you're correct. As soon as they started talking about how deep the Bucks were, their bench started playing poorly.
  17. Whatever happens, Brogdon has been incredible defensively on Kawhi. And did I miss something? Is that NOT an over and back when Lowry steps over while corralling a ball that was knocked out?
  18. We really need Midds to step up here. Prove you're a Max player Khris. I know the mid range is not the shot you want by the analytics, but Toronto is doing too good of a job closing out on 3 point shooters and clogging the lane.
  19. I don't think we are watching the same game Fouls are even. Maybe they've missed a couple, but it's not like they've been to the line 30 times and we've only been there 10. They've shot 19, we've shot 18. We've made 13, they've made 17. That's one difference.
  20. The refs might have missed a few calls on Giannis, but he creates contact every single play. The biggest problem is he's playing too fast and not making the right decisions. Getting bottled up and then trying to make a desperate pass that's 50/50 to be a turnover leading to a run out or to go to one of his own teammates, but even when it goes to a Buck, it's not going to them so they get it in rhythm and are able to take a good shot. They're picking it up from their ankles and by then Toronto is closing out on them.
  21. Once again, this is not why we're losing. If it were, we'd be down 20. It's that we are shooting 8/26 and haven't shot well from three the entire series. The Bucks offense (re: Toronto's defense) is why we are going down, if we do. It's not even close to the problem. We had a 7 footer contesting both of Kawhi's shots. They were hitting 35 pct before them.
