  1. I don't understand this. Why would Counsell be forced to keep pitchers in more next year than he'd like and why would that lead to him using Claudio in situations he shouldn't? We should have a lot more options next year in the pen, but regardless, I really doubt that he's thinking about next years pen when he's deciding if he should pull a pitcher.
  2. Wow...they just chocked this one away. Just hate giving Toronto any life in this series.
  3. And Gasol again escapes his 6th....
  4. Gasol should have been on the bench and the Bucks should have had the ball there. Ball comes off straight to Lopez and he jumps on him and no call. And Bledsoe again....WTH?
  5. 50/50...Giannis was still shuffling. But now at least the Raptors can't whine. Not sure how that wasn't an over the back on Gasol....
  6. That, and the Raptors looked terrified to shoot when he was around in the paint. They haven't scored in the paint since early in the 3rd. FINALLY...the lead.
  7. Because we're losing? Why do you want the last shot with our offensive rebounding? That gives you just one shot to tie it up.
  8. And yet we're going to a 2nd OT.
  9. You don't want to tell a "good shooter" not to shoot, but Christ, at this point, they should be telling him he needs to take it to the rim every play.
  10. Both he and Brogdon have played great D on Kawhi this series. Then of course the help D. They put them away in this OT period and how does Toronto not come out flat in a game 4? If they win it here they put them away by a wide margin in game 4 IMO.
  11. That's kinda what I was thinking, but they were all buzzer beaters without any pressure on other than Kawhi's lucky 4 bounce buzzer beater. Giannis has had one of his worst games of the year, Bled has been awful....and we're still going to OT @ Toronto on the road. Amazing......
  12. Damn...if they can push this game to OT...that'd be amazing considering how this game has gone. I can't see the Raptors winning a 5 minute OT...just lock 'em up here.
  13. Giannis to the lane to take it to OT.
  14. It does not. Because you know he isn't simply overpowering novice hitters at the lower level? Or getting swings on a slider due to poor plate discipline more than fooling batters? Jacob Barnes could put up the same numbers in A and A+. And Jacob Barnes has proven definitively he can get guys out at the big league level. Even this year he's given up all 10 of his ER's in 3 outings over 2 1/3 innings and hasn't given up a run his other 12 games while striking out nearly 12 per 9 innings. So...maybe Barnes just chokes, maybe it's mental. Either way, his stuff is good enough to get hitters out. He just falls apart from time to time. But Barnes isn't Rassmusen. As was mentioned, this isn't just some guy who came out of nowhere. He was the ace of one of the best programs in all of college baseball, pitched in a couple college world series, had TJ, came back and pitched again in relief, then they saw some issues with that first TJ. If the first TJ had been clean and gone well, he's likely a top 10 pick in the draft. So there was already proof his stuff was exceptional. Now we have proof that he's back and healthy and if there's any doubt about what the Brewers think about his stuff, look at how quickly he's moved up in a very short period of time.
  15. Or perhaps he's trying to flip a second breaking ball up there as he said he was going to or wanted to in that article. Either way, he's chugging along. We all know about the talent, just keep stacking these outings on top of each other, don't freak out when he has that ugly outing, and stay healthy. If he does those things, he'll force the Brewers hand.
  16. Why is it that some people feel the need to "police" others beliefs on when a prospect is going to come up and how good he could be if or when they get up? We had this discussion with Hiura coming into the year at AAA. Nobody's looking at him and saying, "oh, he was good in a few innings in AA, he's the next Scherzer," there was pre-existing information about the guy out there. This is basically akin to someone saying, "I'm just being a realist." Go ahead, pump the brakes if you feel they should be pumped. No reason others can't believe that he's capable of helping the Brewers pen out later in the season if he continues to pitch well.
  17. I’m one that had him in my top 7, I think 7th if I remember correctly, for CC to single this guy out in ST, to say how impressive he was, and then the crew activating him for the T Rat game at miller park to make his debut really let’s me know how highly they think of him. He’s now my #1 and it’s not close. Now that Keston's up or regardless?
  18. I'm not a fan, and I don't know what article you're referencing, but if they prefer a sure handed, slower-but more reliable slot receiver, he could certainly fit the bill. I just like the group they have. I don't really see the need for any moves at that spot. Again, the two places I would like to see additions made, MLB'er(Daron Lee, a very talented, but thus far under performing 1st rounder was traded for a conditional 6th round pick) and CB.
  19. I also really haven't heard that many players say this. I think this stands out because of Latrell Spreewell turning down a huge contract at the time(3/21 IIRC) and using that phrase. I haven't even heard many baseball players use it. The real issue isn't what Keuchel thinks, it's the complaints you heard from other players talking about how it doesn't make sense that Kimbrel and Keuchel aren't signed yet. From a fans perspective, I don't get why we have to pick out one or the other as a bad guy though. The owners are billionaires. That still doesn't mean a team should overpay for a players services. The players want what they feel like they're worth. That's important no matter what line of work you're in. I left a job for another for less money because I didn't feel like I was being valued fairly, hoping I'd make up for it at the new job eventually and I was. But being angry while working somewhere feeling like you're worth more than they're paying you isn't a good fit for either side. It's just most of us have to suck it up and don't have millions in the bank to be able to act on it.
  20. I don't think a bad start by the Nats is evidence of anything. Corbin's been outstanding, their problem is their bullpen is one of the worst in decades. That and Trea Turner, their best player has been out, Rendon and Soto have dealt with injuries. I don't see how you argue that them spending money on starting pitching, legit aces for that matter has been the problem. Their pitching is why they were expected to be so good and they've delivered. It's not as if they signed pitchers like Darvish and haven't gotten anything out of them. Give them a solid BP and keep their stars healthy and they're fine. This certainly isn't advocating a signing of Keuchel, but I do think the Corbin signing. Their real problem was the fact that they didn't do anything about that pen. A lefty with good stuff who can get strikeouts who loses their velocity can at least turn into a Keuchel type. A lefty who's already throwing in the upper 80's loses any more and where do you go from there? There's not a lot of successful starters who throw 86-87. Certainly not TOR types.
  21. I'm guessing at the time he was talking about how they looked. He missed a few badly. One I believe didn't touch the rim and just clanked off the backboard to the right of the rim.
  22. Having your starters play as many minutes as they did compared to the Bucks starters and the Bucks being rested also helped. If the Raptors don't get some solid play out of their bench it could be a long series for them. The closer the game is the better for the Bucks as the Raptors can't rotate Kawhi out like the Bucks can rotate Middleton, Giannis and Bledsoe. The Bucks are just a deeper team and probably the deepest team in the playoffs right now. The Raptors have a few guys who can play on their bench. Kinda surprised they didn't go to Norm Powell more after he started out and hit a couple threes. He's a guy who can defend and rebound well for his size. But I don't see how the Raptors can go with the Bucks. They lost on a night when Lowry was 7 or 8 from 3 at one point, Kawhi didn't play great, but he played pretty well, meanwhile Giannis had a really average night by his standards. Middleton shot poorly. This has to be just completely demoralizing if you're Toronto. This was the game they needed to win the way they played and they ended up losing by 8 with Leonard gassed badly at the end of the game. If the Bucks shoot just average in the first half from 3, this game woulda been a blowout.
  23. MLB doesn't care. Remember when there were two camps arguing that we should put Wang on the DL once he hit his requirement as part of the 25 man roster and people said that if he didn't have a real injury, it'd be breaking the rules? Teams flaunt this all the time and MLB isn't going to question a guy who's missed a year and a half if the team says he's had a minor setback, he'll need another 10 days.
