  1. Can't wait for some posters to start posting about how he sucks and "to get the bum out of there."
  2. Cubs win again of course. No catching them at this point. We just need to keep winning and hope the Rockies falter.
  3. When I read the in game threads, people are always slamming Braun. And now people are angry he's sitting? lol
  4. Wild Card World Champions, lol
  5. They've got Harvey tomorrow though. He's the kind of guy who could shut the Cubs down.
  6. I hope we do squeeze in. My worst nightmare is we let the Cubs off the hook and they end up repeating. I'd throw up for months.
  7. It isn't. Fowler, Chapman & Ross are gone. Russell has been out. Other players are having subpar seasons. Zobrist looks done, the pitching isn't the same either Davis is actually doing better than Chapman so that's not a reason. Fowler was definitely a loss. Russell is hurt but he wasn't doing good even when he was there. Zobrist is definitely done. But on the flip side, they've gotten increased production from Contreras and Heyward.
  8. Hard to believe this is the same Cubs team that won the WS last year.
  9. This is pretty much the season right here. Win and continue or lose and go home.
  10. So you want the Cubs to have Schwarber at DH for the next decade? No thanks.
  11. Since Nelson is now out, I've got a feeling Garza is going to step up and turn into the second coming of Cy Young.
  12. Well without Nelson that's pretty much all she wrote. Was a great season though, lots of fun for me. Thanks everyone!
  13. Sure, mathematically not. Realistically, I'll stand by what I said that they need to sweep now to make this a race again. 2 of 3 and then you still need 3 of 4 in the next series which is a big ask, and then that still leaves you with 2 games to make up just to tie, and there just isn't a lot of ground to be made up against the soft remaining schedule for the Cubs. If they come out of this series down 4, the Cubs still have 6 games left on this homestand including 3 against the Mets...I just don't see them continuing to hang around in the division race in that scenario. Without Nelson, pretty much over for us at this point. Even if we snuck in somehow, we don't go anywhere without Jimmy.
  14. We got pretty lucky missing Lester, Arrieta, Quintana. Maybe the baseball Gods are smiling on us this season.
  15. Well their slide is why we won 2 games against them. Would you rather have them dominating and sweep us?
  16. I've long been a fan of traditional BB, but I think its time for the DH... Just too much specialization in the game anymore. That and Ryan Braun as a DH is probably a benefit for the next 3 years. So we lose Nelson and suddenly we should go to the DH huh? lol
  17. And then they drill Nelson. Not a great idea.
  18. I'm not saying that a Wild Card can't win. It's happened before. Just that this year's Card team isn't very good. They aren't winning the Series, much less getting there. The 2011 team you referenced was actually a pretty decent game. If I recall correctly, they finished nearly 20 games over .500. There are no similarities between that team and this team except that both teams might be the WC.
  19. There is no chance in hell STL is winning the WS this year. There are a handful teams with some serious horsepower that will completely shut down the Cards.
  20. Cubs now 5 up on us in the loss column. Basically WC or bust at this point.
  21. The Brewers, 0.5 games out of the Wild Card, just drew sub 18k last Thursday. So, yeah. We don't really care either. Excuse me, last Thursday, Aug. 31, attendance was 26,384. In fairness, isn't capacity roughly 42k? 26k isn't exactly awesome.
  22. The Brewers, 0.5 games out of the Wild Card, just drew sub 18k last Thursday. So, yeah. We don't really care either. lol
  23. That's pretty much nightmare scenario though. If we have to use Davies/Nelson in Game 162, and then using the other in the 1 game playoff. And then using someone else for G1 in a series against the Dodgers. That would be very, very bad for us.
  24. Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist but I believe the Dodgers/Nats don't want to see the Cubs in the playoffs and are secretly hoping we get in.
