  1. Midds returning to action tonight
  2. Nijman promoted from the Practice Squad to the Active Roster
  3. Well, the dropoff from Grandal to the Pina of 2018/2019 is very huge. Nottingham may or may not be average as a #2. Freitas is AAAA at best. The real hope for the system, the Feliciano/Henry/Fry trio, is three years away from significant time in Milwaukee. Grandal, like it or not, was crucial. Not if that offensive production comes from another position player addition. With that said, I agree with JimH5's post as it gets very tiresome to see people constantly defend ownership's profitably for a franchise that has zero rings in 50 years.
  4. Always sucks to lose a game like that, but for game #1 against a solid opponent, not a bad start to the season. It would really help to have Potter around right now because this team needs help off the bench big time, but the Reuvers/Trice combo flashed some brilliance. Aleem Ford's agressive yet under control drive to tie the game with ~1:00 left in regulation was really nice to see, hopefully we get more of that as the season goes along. Wahl is an interesting freshman, he looked overmatched physically at times but I could see him getting increased minutes down the road. Looks like a player Excited for this season overall - as much as I loved Happ, I think this team will be more consistent offensively without having to work everything through him, and hopefully the team FT % improves as well.
  5. Everyone calling him a dick for doing this, the Astros have pretty much implied they won't be trying to bring him back next year unless he's taking a discount. So I don't get your point of view at all. He's probably already annoyed with the organization's approach to his impending FA, and after getting warm in the bullpen and then not being used in a Game 7 loss at home, I'm sure he wasn't feeling any better about the org after the game.
  6. 7. To win that game after the way the 1st half went... impressive. This should be a fun season.
  8. Juan Soto is on a Mike Trout trajectory. Kid is a star
  9. Getting rid of affordable, fan-friendly baseball options will only hurt MLB in the long run. Terrible development in my opinion.
  10. 5 innings, 2 hits, 1 walk, 0 ER, 6 K’s for Victor Castaneda last night. He’s really having a great AFL showing.
  11. Don't know how realistic this is, but what about Andrelton Simmons? He's due to make $15 million in 2020, but then becomes a FA, so as a 1 year rental wouldn't be as expensive as he'd be otherwise. Bit of an injury-plagued year this year, but when healthy he's as good as it gets defensively, and he seemed to have figured it out offensively in the last few years. High average/contact, rarely strikes out, has a little pop and can steal a few bags.
  12. That 1st inning was just... a thing of beauty.
  13. i would be shocked if he got consideration from anyone. I think this is a case of the brewers wanting to improve their IF defense. Why would that be shocking? He's highly regarded around the league
  14. Wonder if Subero is interviewing for managerial jobs
  15. McCalvy says Hader is Arbitration Eligible as a Super Two
  16. Chase Anderson – $10.3MM – club option for $8.5MM Yes - but maybe look for a trade partner Jimmy Nelson – $3.7MM Yes Hernan Perez – $3.0MM No Corey Knebel – $5.125MM Yes Alex Claudio – $2.2MM Yes Travis Shaw – $4.7MM Yes Manny Pina – $2.2MM – club option for $1.85MM with a $150K buyout Yes Cory Spangenberg – $1.5MM Yes Zach Davies – $5.0MM Yes Junior Guerra – $3.5MM Yes Tyler Saladino – $1.0MM No Orlando Arcia – $2.7MM Yes Ben Gamel – $1.6MM Yes Brent Suter – $900K Yes Tyler Austin – $1.2MM No
  17. Enjoyed watching the mass exodus of Dodgers fans after that slam
  18. Soto is such an incredible player at such a young age. Wow. Rendon and Soto going back to back off Kershaw at Dodger Stadium has me rooting for the Nats now. Beat LA and then pummel the Cards!
  19. Pablo Abreu taking BP
  20. I may get kicked off of this site as I was removed from many after the cardinals last “title”. Same slightly above average type of cardinals team that teams like the braves, brewers, etc lay down and let them win it... makes me wonder why the hell that hasn’t happened for us. I think the Braves did kind of lie down in this series with their announcement for tonight's game. It'd be like us giving up Bernie Brewer or something like that... If Bernie Brewer was racist, maybe. Their announcement was basically, "Yes, we acknowledge that this thing we do is offensive and racist, so we'll stop... but only when Helsley is on the field. The remaining 95% of the game, we will continue doing the offensive and racist thing."
  21. Bobby Wahl's 1st appearance of the year didn't go well on paper: 0.1 IP 3H 5ER 2BB 0K Results obviously don't matter, it's good to see him out there getting some work in. In other news, Clayton Andrews now has 11 K's through 6.2 IP, and he recorded his 1st hit and RBI of the AFL season yesterday.
  22. For me it’s last year’s NLCS overall, but specifically game 2. Could’ve had a commanding 2-0 series lead and instead... that was the most painful loss I’ve attended personally. Game 7 obviously hurt, but the 5+ hour Game 4 might be the most excruciating loss I’ve watched on TV.
  23. Great news! Hope he can get a couple of solid innings in
  24. It's good to hear Ted Davis again even if it's the preseason
