  1. yeah pretty much anything over .260 is gravy for arcia as far as i am concerned his range on defense is unreal
  2. we are ten games over .500 and seem to be over our offensive woes for now. heres hoping they keep it up and braun comes out of his slump friday this is why the brewers brought in cain and yelich 2 professional hitters who get on base and let the big boppers bring em home
  3. i think i worded that last post poorly..when braun comes back, aguilar should start at first as much as possible and i was wondering how counsell will handle the platoon IF aguilar is still hitting well against RHP when thames comes back
  4. RHP last year and this year he is hitting .333 against both RHP and LHP. i would hope when braun comes he doesnt play too much at first base and IF, a reall big IF luke, if he is still hitting over.300 next month when thames comes back, i dont know how you bench a guy that hot. maybe plat thames twice a week against righties and twice a week in the OF. thames was hitting well also
  5. one last thing. dont under-estimate adding yelich and cain and what that does to aguilars bottom line. that means a ton of baserunners ahead of him and shaw directly behind him. he is probably getting alot of tasty pitches to hit..i think this lineup is going to scorch the ball this summer, thames included, and hopefully braun
  6. i offer no proof but the eye test ,extended playing time and seeing the ball well. and we all know thames will hit most of the right handed pitching when he comes back. the only data i have is that he hit LHP astoundingly well last and this year, and this year he is even hitting RHP well... i think his splits are 2/3 RHP and 1/3 LHP. .I think all 4 of his last homers are against RHP...Guys, i hope it isnt just me but he doesnt "look" like a .246 hitter against RHP this year does he....i dont see why saying he will hit .280 or .290 is so outlandish
  7. luke. i will take the bait....what is wrong with what i am suggesting...a .280 to 290 average and 25-30 homers depending on how much he plays when thames gets back...i will be happy if finishes with similar stats to last year except with a higher batting average. he had 279 AB last year. i hope he gets at least 350 this year
  8. ok xis, why should i care about 50 AB before he got to milwaukee over the almost 400 AB since he got to milwaukee. which is more important. has anyone even stopped to think he is hitting better bc he is playing alot more than he ever has and is seeing the ball better. that makes sense does it. i dont EXPECT him to continue to hit. 335 with a .390 OBP.. .i expect him to finish around .280 or 290. how is that so un-realistic just bc he has a .262 average
  9. to even end up hitting .250 he would have to completely suck the next 3-4 months and i dont see that happening. i think he will hitting .280 to.290...i dont base that on anything but watching him play last year and how well he is seeing the ball this year
  10. the biggest statements i was debating were that he ISNT a very talented hitter and he has been ridiculously lucky. I disagree heartily with both. you cant be an un-talented hitter and crush LHP, the way he has for a year and a half. and now he is crushing RHP too
  11. YEP, I suggested if we were going to trade one of them, i wish it was thames, NOT aguilar,as i saw alot of people saying it would be no big deal if we had to DFA him bc his stas were so pedestrian and it was no loss...i said he got 16 homers and 52 rbis. extrapolated over double his 279 AB that is over 30 homers and 100 some rbis. I get the .246 against RHP but again, that is only part of his stats. i think he is at .324 against RHP this year. i dont think it is 'lucky". i think he is seeing the ball well. we ALL know he is going to regress some. he will go into a slumpo. everyone does, but i bet he hits. over .262 for the year and he he has potential for a ton of homers and rbis. when thames comes back his PT will diminish but i dont think his stats will regress anywhere near what luke and billhall think
  12. i think the lineup we had last nite was the best one we have put out there, and in 7 days, when brauny comes back, he really needs to start hitting,..you really cant pitch around anyone in the first 5 slots. this is a very potent team folks. the starting pitching is way better then we thought and the bullpen is the best in baseball
  13. whatever it is, i hope he retains it. IMO, he was just another guy when we got him, and almost instantly he "figured it out".. he had a great spring training in 2017, which earned him a roster spot, and has been crushing LHP ever since, and show signs of getting better against RHP. I will say he doesnt look as comfortable fielding 1rst base as thames or braun, but i, for one can live wth that, you know, it isnt a given that his numbers will drastically drop if he plays everyday. some back up players see the ball better if they start to play every day. even if he hits .280 this year with 20 homers or so...is good
  14. no. i have been having an ongoing debate with bill hall and luke, they seem to think he is getting lucky and that he is a one dimensional hitter that cant hit righties, which he is solidly dis-proving. its ntr being combatative either. in march there was a deluge of people here saying trade aguilar for anything we can get,,,i kept saying i wish they could find a way to keep him and i am glad they didnt trade him...great move by stearns. this guy aguilar is transforming into an offensive weapon before our very eyes..the whole team is playing well. villar is very hot
  15. another easy win... great pitching. just about everyone is getting hot. how bout them brewers
  16. ok. show me some data THIS season that he isnt doing a great job..BTW, our brewers are 27-18 baby
  17. yeah i am just waiting for him to come down to earth,,,lol..2 home runs a walk and a single..all against RHP. i still say it. he will come down gradually but the guy is a stud the last 2 years,,,oh his salary is $557,000..if you go by his stats he can play evwryday until thames comes back or have braun play against righties if he gets his groove back
  18. i dont get the critiscm of aguilar. all he has done is make the team as a walk on and hit very well since day one. i just dont get it..i love the guy
  19. guys, i think thus is our most potent lineup, with perez as a super sub..and its nice to see suter breeze so far
  20. i dont know guys...he keeps proving he IS a talented hitter, but you guys can think he isnt. i DO..and with choi or thames platooning with, him i think he will do as good as last year, which was awesome
  21. you guys are right about one thing. he is only a .246 career hitter...against RHP luckily he gets to face LHP almost half the time. where he is a .286 hitter and .371 OBP
  22. well, he hit .265 in a full season last year with 16 homers and 52 rbis last year and is at .308 this year. what more do you want from a platoon player. and he wont be playing fulltime when thames comes back so who cares what he would have to hit if he played everyday.you guys seem to think he will just flounder...that hasnt been the case the last 2 years. even if thames doesnt come back, they wd prob bring up choi to bat from the other side anyway. aguilar has batted .290 the last month with a .340 OBP...I think that deserves praise, not cynicsm that he is juat an ordinary guy that will inevitably fall
  23. well we will see. i think what we are seeing in aguilar isnt a mirage..i think he is really a bonafide mlb hitter...i get the lefty righty part but he has done good so far
  24. the only reason aguilar is regressing a little latey is because NO ONE can keep hitting at a .360 clip all year. he is fine, i think he will hit .290 or so this year
