  1. Do we really need a long-term cost controlled pitcher that's probably not a TOR? We have a pretty long list of pitcher who can perform at #2/#3/#4 pitchers (I'm pretty excited about the pitching for next year, assuming nelson can pick up where he left off). Bundy is really inconsistent (but maybe he'd perform much better outside of Baltimore where pitchers always suck). The only pitcher I would spend the farm on would be Degrom as he is substantial upgrade over anything in the system and give us a really good window for the next 2.5 years. Also he would start the wild card game and pitch 2x each series in the playoffs. I don't know if I would give Bundy those opportunities. Where would Bundy rank with our possible rotation for next year? Nelson Peralta Burnes Anderson Davies Guerra Chacin Suter
  2. Too bad corey seager is out for the year. The dodgers probably don't go after machado if that's the case. Then maybe we get him for phillips and ortiz.
  3. Excited for baseball to start back up again. The all-start break seemed like forever. This will be telling next couple weeks for the rest of the season. Hopefully they show resilience and bounce back from the recent skid. I'm kind worried about the pitchers that we're slated to face (Kershaw probably twice, cueto, strausburg, bumgarner, wood etc), but it looks like we will miss schrezer!
  4. He's a second half hitter Career .747 OPS in the first half; .813 OPS second half In 2017, it was 0.745 OPS in the first half; 0.985 OPS in the second half In 2018, Apr/March = .728 OPS May .689 OPS June .645 OPS July .961 OPS!!! (although were only ~1/3 way through july) He's gonna be a heck of a lot cheaper than machado in terms of prospects. If macahdo requires burnes, peralta, arcia or hiura, we should pass and definitely target dozier.
  5. It doesn't really matter. The point is that on the whole, Orf's entire "he hits so well in AAA" description has to do with the fact that he essentially plays half of his games on the moon. The rest of the PCL is actually great for hitters but he has only done OK with that. It's the same reason that there are various guys that put up borderline All Star numbers for the Rockies that I would be barely interested in in a trade. You can't trust the numbers unless they're by a truly good hitter that can hit outside of that environment as well. When will be the brewers minor league team leave Colorado springs? It seems like having the AAA team there has a negative impact on the organization (i.e. it makes evaluation of talent a little bit difficult, probably impacts development)
  6. How about Brad Hand (or another premium RP)? Double down on our competitive edge - it would be an insane bullpen. We could just bullpen the crap out of every playoff game. He's relatively affordable and controllable, but probably will have a high price tag at the deadline
  7. Kind of sucks we played Cleveland 4 times this year - had to face Kluber twice and Carrasco twice.
  8. How about Wilson Ramos? He'd be a lot cheaper. He's a FA next year, but nottingham might be ready for next year? Not sure what it would take to get him
  9. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/mileywa01.shtml Haven't watched much of Miley. But just looking at his track record, would the most likely favorable situation is a low to mid 4.0, and we win half his starts? Something like his 2014 and 2015 seasons (ignore 2016 and 2017 because Baltimore). I'd be happy with that until around the ASB when Nelson comes back, someone is called up or we make a trade.
