  1. $5 million/1 year - Not bad
  2. Almost all the "A team" players are hurt so what maddon says really doesn't matter at all. If anything it helps motivate the B-team players to prove themselves; I'd be kind of pissed about that comment if I was Bote, Happ, Kemp, etc. I'd rather have players that are trying to prove something versus guys who have nothing to prove and are packing it up for the year. Alec Mills is pitching on Friday and has been pitching pretty good. Looks like Hamels is starting Saturday. No one announced for Sunday. I would love it if Darvish or Hendricks gets a start during the series but I'm not going to lose sleep over it.
  3. Should be interesting to watch Schwarber, Heyward, Castellanos outfield
  4. Holey crap Pomeranz had a horrific May - 19.16 ERA, 3.290 WHIP over 10 IP June and July numbers look decent. Good strikes outs but a lot of walks.
  5. I wonder if its worth rolling the dice on Ken Giles - he's have a great year. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/07/ken-giles-still-in-play-in-trade-talks.html With his elbow inflammation, maybe we can get him on a discount. Worse case scenario, he is limited this year, but useful next year.
  6. I like the trade. Brewers were in a real hard place with Aguilar since he wasn't producing; at times I was wondering if they would DFA him due to roster crunch. I hope he flourishes in Tampa. I had Jacob Faria on a lot of fantasy teams in 2017; he was quite good that year. There's some potential there. With the brewers system so desperate for pitching, its worth the gamble. Hopefully a change of scenery helps. He relative young and he's controllable.
  7. Ken Giles is having a great season. There's reports that he's had a total attitude adjustment this year which has been one of the biggest knocks on him and probably was impacting his performance in past years. He would be my top choice if we were to splurge on a high end reliever at the deadline. But at the same time, probably a huge price tag. 1.29 ERA, 1.036 WHIP, 15.8 K/9 1.03 FIP, xFIP 2.09
  8. I wonder what it would take for Castellanos. He's been a "breakout" candidate but hasn't delivered. He's had some crazy high hard contact rates the past couple of years. I've read him being pretty disgruntled with playing for a rebuilding team which may be impacting his play. Also playing in a bad lineup can't be helping for a kind of free swinger. Maybe moving to a better line-up, in a better ballpark and with a winning team might make the breakout happen? The tigers couldn't move him over the offseason so demand isn't that high. And they probably don't want to offer him a qualifying offer since he's probably accept it with the current market and his disappointing year. Although he's a boras client, right? Aguilar would make a lot of sense for Detroit. They have no first baseman. He's controllable for 3 years with a history of success. They can afford for him to struggle. He probably doesn't make it to them on waivers. Aguilar + ~#10 prospect for Castellanos? I have no clue. He's not a good OF so that would be a big reason for the brewers to stay away. Braun or Castellanos would have to move to 1B which I don't know if thats a great idea for either since they have limited experience there.
  9. The rumors that the Mets and Phillies are interested in Mike Minor is interesting. He is making 9.8 mil for 2019 and again in 2020, and would cost some prospects. While Keuchel sits there. The draft pick/slot money is probably a significant reason, I'm thinking he's not getting signed until after the June draft.
  10. I really want to see Burnes and Woodruff in the rotation this year. I think once they figure things out, they are going to be legit. The offense will allow us to go through some growing pains early in the season. But part of me wouldn't mind seeing the brewers sign Keuchel (1 yr/18 mil) and then push Woodruff and Burnes back to the bullpen once Nelson is ready. I really want to see Woodruff and Burnes get a shot at the rotation the entire year. But I wouldn't mind seeing this: Rotation Chacin Keuchel Nelson Peralta Davies Bullpen Jeffress Hader Woodruff Burnes Guerra Claudio Albers Wilson (williams/barnes if they figure it out) Chase That bullpen would be legit
  11. Just to compare some recent big RP signings Adam Ottovino - 3 year 27 million (AAV = 9 mil) Zach Britton - 3 year (AAV = 13 mil) - 39 million Andew Miller - 2 year 25 million (AAV = 12.5 mil), with a 3rd year if he pitches >110 innings Wade Davis - 3 year 52 million (AAV = 17.3 mil), 4 year vesting option if he pitches >30 games in the last year Chapman - 5 year 86 million dollars (AAV = 17.2 mil) Kenly Jansen 5 year 80 million (AAV = 16 mil) I think kimbrel looking still looking for 5-6 year contact at 15-18 mil per year, which is the issue. This is his probably his last chance at a huge contract. I think a 1 year 18 million contract would be a good deal for both sides (that would make him the highest AAV of any RP, and then the risk is lower for the team). Kimbrel would get another shot at the market next year I wouldn't go any more than 3 years; I think the wade davis contract would be the most reasonable for a long-term deal, maybe a creative vesting option Kimbrel scares me after seeing what happened to holland last year, obviously kimbrel is a better pitcher. Also, would not like to have a mark melancon contract for the next couple of years 4 year 62 million...
  12. Do Thames and Gamel get the start today? Cain Yelich Thames Shaw Grandal Moose Gamel Arcia Chacin Mikolas in 2018 vs RHB .191 /.240 /.264 vs LHB .279 /.307 / .415
  13. The 2-7 hitters all end the season with 30+ dingers each! Taylor Williams and Jacob Barnes get an opportunity early on and breakout. Adding more bullpen studs. Peralta, Woodruff and Burnes all earn their right to stay in the rotation all year. Brewers are burdened with finding ways to keep their innings reasonable for this year.
  14. Chacin Woodruff Burnes Peralta Davies
  15. My guess is that Kimbrel doesn't have any multi-year deals on the table anywhere near his desired AAV. As we are getting closer to opening day, teams are probably getting scared off (see greg holland and alex cobb from last year). Maybe Milwaukee has the best 1 year pillow deal on the table - 1yr/$15-20 million. Milwaukee would only have to give a 4th round pick if they signed him, right? So it makes a bit more sense for us compared to other teams. Maybe we'll get a discount because its getting late. I think Kimbrel waiting until after the draft or sitting out the entire season is not going to happen. They can probably take on the extra salary if its short term or maybe backload it if we're talking a longer deal.
  16. It will be interesting who comes out of the AL. All scary teams. My money is Houston. Verlander/Cole/Morton/Keuchel, followed up by a really good bullpen. Offense is a down from last year, but still full of elite players and scary. BOS has a juggernaut offense. But with Price struggling and moving to the pen, Sale/Porcello/Eovaldi isn't as scary. They might have ride Sale really hard to get into the WS. The bullpen isn't as good as HOU or NYY edit: typo
  17. Tyler Anderson's has some interesting splits as a LHP this year. vs Lefties: .283/.338/.490 vs. Righties .234/.302/.437 Moose definitely starts at 3B. Does Shaw or Schoop at 2B?
  18. I usually work until 4:30. Going to try to sneak out at 4 pm. Listen to the first couple innings on the radio in the car. I wish I could go to one of the games this week, but already used up an unexpected absence on game 163 this monday. Totally worth it! Need to start requesting vacation time in October for the next couple years
  19. What do you think the pitching match ups will be? Chacin pitched Monday. Gio pitched Sunday. Miley had a short outing on Saturday. Marquez pitched Monday. Jon Gray pitched Friday. Freeland pitched Tuesday (its a blessing we only have to probably face him once). Unfortunately, Chacin can only pitch once. Chacin and a bullpen game are probably our best bet at coors? Would we give Gio or Miley 2 starts? Do we trust Chase, Davies or Peralta to take a start? Thurs: Miley vs. Gray Friday: Gio vs. Marquez Sunday: Chacin vs. Freeland Monday: Bullpen vs. Tyler Anderson Wednesday: Miley vs. Gray/Marquez Edit: game 5 is Wed, my bad
  20. As much as I would love to see a Brewers-Cubs NLDS, I don't think I could stomach our home play-off games being majority cubs fans. I don't blame people for selling - everyone has their own finances to worry about and the tickets will get top dollar. I can't help be be salty about the "wrigley north" crap. I was at Game 163 at Miller Park South - the "let's go brewer" chants and "M-V-P" chants gave me chills, it felt like sweet justice. I was in a section where there weren't that many brewers fans - I was on full tilt with the chants in the belly of the beast, it was awesome. With that being said a Brewers-Cub NLDS would be epic and amazing baseball. All the clenching, pacing and heart racing probably won't be good for me. But If the brewers win, it would take what happened in the final stretch and game 163 to a whole new level. A beautiful entry into brewers lore.
  21. This could possibly be adam wainwright's last start as a cardinal (free agent next year) - lets hope he makes it a memorable start. Then you gotta love that the cards have flaherty and mikolas going the next two days.
  22. CF Lorenzo Cain R RF C. Yelich L 1B J. Aguilar R 2B J. Schoop R LF Ryan Braun R 3B M. Moustakas L SS Hernan Perez R C Manny Pina R P C. Anderson R
  23. Miller has been horrid recently. 0.547 OPS over the past month, 0.284 OPS over last 14 days. I hope some positive regression is coming. Dozier would be really nice in the 6 hole. I like Saladino, I just don't like him batting #6.
