    Here is where I land on this. Milwaukee can win this, but they need players. I think they could use an infusion of offense, but don’t see where it comes from. Those CJ Abrams rumors don’t make a lot of sense to me when they commit to Pratt and Ortiz is playing like he is. Committing to Lara too is interesting. They need pitching to win. I think Skubal would be awesome. But expensive compared to this: go get Joe Ryan and Mason and have more than just this year as an immediate window. For me, all prospects except Made and Adamczewski are in play. And hesitant to trade Fischer. Only one of Quero/Dinges and one of Hardin/Letson. No Henderson. Open for business on Sproat, Crow, and Ashby (yes, Ashby). Even Gasser, but prefer not to trade him. Frelick is open for business too. With a two season window (the Ryan/Contraras window) you have time for recent draft picks and international signings to fill the farm back up. Get Ryan and Mason for some combination of: Pena, Jett, Frias, Letson/Hardin, Sproat, Crow, Ashby, Frelick, Quero/Dinges, and other lower ranked players to fill it out. I love Frelick. Guy can help San Diego and Minnesota rebuild. I love Ashby. But a fresh Hall, and adding Mason makes him a lucrative rotation or pen piece.

    There is a part of me back when the trade hit that felt bad that when Milwaukee wins the World Series in October, that Freddy won’t be here for it. That part of me loves this trade. It’s the other part of me that knows it will take more than Freddy at the deadline to win the whole damn thing.

    Nice to see Miz has his legs back under him again.

    Sproat for Ryan is doable for me. Like that one. The other two are good too. I’d sign up for these.

    Of the six young guys who have taken the ball, this is how I value them: 1. Drohan. May have been the throw in for the Durbin deal. I don’t know anything about him but what I have seen. I love his poise. Unflappable. 2. Gasser. Through TJ surgery. He has looked really sharp of late except in that PIT game when Miz scratched. 3. Sproat. Inconsistent but the highest ceiling by far. You can see his stuff. 4. Henderson. Injuries. Otherwise probably #1. 5. Crow. Easy guy to let go for me. But should be a quality #5 starter for someone else. 6. Rodriguez. Easier to let go. I would hesitate to trade 1–3. Open on 4 for the right deal for Henderson, fine. Final two, open for business.

    One of the great things about the Sabathia deal was CC’s willingness to pitch his arm off. I will always be grateful for him answering the bell over and over, short rest in the late season run. He could have wanted to save himself for his new deal. An injury could have cost him big. I don’t know Skubal. On the brink of a $400M payday, will he put himself on the line? I have no idea. Mason fits the mold of young and hungry that exemplifies the Brewers Way. I’ll be happy to see either in Milwaukee for the right price.

    Robert Gasser, if you need him. Great outing! He is in the convo for #3 starter in the second half. Miz, Kyle. Gasser, Henderson, With Drohan and Sproat as #5 and the pen! LFG!!!

    Drohan is pretty clearly the #3 starter for this team. Love this kid. Unflappable. Steady. Get Henderson back and a playoff run of Miz, Harrison, Drohan and Henderson. And run it back next year.

    Did I miss something that Chad Patrick will be pitching out of the pen now? Or just a one time thing?

    Look, fair points. Freddy is a 4/5 on the only team in baseball with more money than the Rothschilds, the Dodgers. But….the window is now all across the field in MKE. So you just gotta get into the post season and have a punchers chance. Lots of deep pieces that can do multiple innings in relief. MKE could win the thing by having three guys able to go 2+ innings in relief in Chad Patrick, Hall, Ashby and Gasser. Freddy Woody Miz Preister Hendo/Ashby/Patrick/Myers/Zerpa Heck, maybe we get lucky with a Letson as a late season bully piece.

    I can answer without looking at anything they might secure in a trade (knowing what is “realistic” for a return). It’s “no” for me. This was the winningest team in Baseball. They can win the whole thing. Freddy is too important for that. The system is very healthy. Longevity of the team is on firm ground without having to trade him. there are young players with the ability to take next steps in Chuorio, Felick, Turang, Durbin and Ortiz. It’s a time to play for this WS.

    I would sign up for 3 @ $75M. Risk? Sure. But he looked fantastic at stretches. And I think he’s just coming into his own post surgery. You have to take a shot sometimes.

    I agree on Siegler. He does a great job leaning into pitches and staring them to the glove. There were times Murph praised him for his at bats. I never saw it. He did nothing to show he can hit at this level. For Wild Bill: exercise the option. Build goodwill with your best player and leader!

    Under no circumstances would I be trading Freddy. There is a good team here. Gotta take a shot every once in a while. Here is my crazy scenario: if Detroit makes Skubal available, I am at that table. Prospects like Pratt, one of Quero/Dinges, Pitchers like Gasser (not Miz or Logan Henderson). Baseball is about to change. Take a shot with what you have before a work stoppage. You roll with: 1. Skubal 2. Freddy 3. Woodruff on a one year prove it (he’s not getting a big deal). 4. Miz 5. Priester 6. Logan Henderson Hall, Patrick and Ashby are the 2 inning guys. Megill, Koenig, Uribe are the back end. Call me crazy! But let’s push some chips into the center and make a play.

    Craig is always uptight. “Well, I guess they are doing a bullpen game, so we’ll have to figure it out.” The look on his face was tight. Murph is just cool and loose. The teams reflect that in these two games.

    No way am I trading Peralta. MKE is a World Series Contender. Freddy is their ace. And they have the top minor league system. Need to focus on this post season and next with the resources we have.

    You left off the best one! Best record in all of baseball! 162 game champions is pretty incredible. Whatever happens, I am grateful for this season! And excited for this post season and beyond!
