This was never looked at as a finished product in 2018 so I'm very confident you'll get your wish. Last night saw too many guys swinging for the fences once they fell behind 5-1. There's was plenty of time to take better, patient approaches. Stearns aggressively added Cain and Yelich because they fit the mold of the players he's looking for. The in-season acquisitions were patchwork and outside the box. People can safely count on Schoop and Moustakas heading elsewhere. A 2B who makes enough contact, plays defense, and has infield versatility will be brought in to placehold until Huira comes up midseason. I think their #1 target to fill that role will be Eduardo Escobar. He'd be a stud defensively at 2B. And he's very capable at SS and 3b once Huira is up. The way the Brewers platoon, Escobar would get plenty of run playing all over the infield. Shaw, Arcia, Huira, Aguilar, and Escobar is 5 starters for 4 infield spots so everyone will get the right amount of ABs and days off. Escobar had an OPS over .800 last year with on decent on base skills. If they're going to be aggressive at all it would probably be at catcher. But no one wants to part with a true difference maker there. Realmuto would probably require too much further emptying of the farm. I think they'll make smart, budget acquisitions that will likely underwhelm the masses.
