  1. Is everybody having fun yet!?!?!
  2. Just so everyone has some perspective, scoring is way down throughout the playoffs. The way teams avoid allowing batters to even get a 2nd look at pitchers is going to make it harder for runs to come by. Chill about the Brewers bats. They're getting the job done. Allow yourself to enjoy the game of baseball.
  3. What an enjoyable inning that was because I didn't get bent out of shape about Arcia's strikeout. I don't know about any of you, but I'm having fun!
  4. Exactly. If a 10 game winning streak that snatches the division from your biggest rival and builds a 2-0 playoff series lead is torture, you're doing it wrong.
  5. Is the state of Michigan that jealous of Wisconsin sports? There can't be that many Colorado transplants there.
  6. One more item to add. Please everyone keep doing what you're doing, pessimists and optimists alike. It's working so don't change a thing.
  7. I'll also say this about criticizing a move before the outcome is known. When you do that, it really limits the amount you can enjoy it if the outcome is positive for the team. That positive outcome comes at the expense of you being wrong. Of course you're glad it worked out but no one likes looking foolish or being wrong. Predicting doom and gloom and then thankfully being wrong really does lessen the the level of joy and excitement of the positive result. Everyone has watched a sporting event with the guy hooting and hollering how bad the team is playing or jumping on the first sign of trouble to say "they're gonna lose!". He's the reserved quiet guy when the team pulls it out or escapes a big jam. He's not the guy leaping out of his chair high-fiving everyone in sight.
  8. Try to imagine the positive outcome of every scenario. The way some of the posts roll out in the in-game thread, it appears some are thinking of the next criticism or doom they can predict. Also try and figure out why CC is making the choices and decisions he's making. Hint, they're usually based in very sound reason. Almost every time someone has scratched their head and lamented a CC move (Santana 1st PH off the bench), someone else has explained the reasoning. If you start to understand what they're doing it definitely helps you to have more faith that it will work out. When all else fails, force yourself to say, post, or think something positive. At minimum it will make you want to look smart. I know I take some fun pride in knowing that each of the times in the last 3 games (Cubs, Rockies 1,2) that I posted "THINK POSiTIVE THOUGHTS" in the IGT, the team almost immediately had their game winning moment. I am not suggesting that positive thoughts have any affect on the outcome. It's actually quite clear via the IGT, social media, and watching the faces in the stands on TV that most Brewers fans are pessimistic as they come. What I am saying quite definitively is that assuming a positive outcome rather than a negative one makes the wins as enjoyable as they should be. Of course the losses and missed opportunities will still sting. But instead of stinging throughout the 4 hours the game is being played, they'll only sting at the end. The Brewers have won 10 games in a row and it's been a blast. Not enjoying a winning streak like that at make or break time is completely on you. Remember, these current Brewers are mostly new faces. They don't have that long track record of letting you down. So far, the only track record they have is exceeding your expectations.

  10. Rockies chasing pitches even further out of the zone than the Brewers are. Story has been a monster all year. It's the playoffs, human nature to press.
  11. Well this is certainly a different way of going about things.
  12. The Crew scoring runs here would be awfully deflating to the Rockies given the chances they've squandered.
  13. Chacin suddenly looked pretty strong there that inning. Hopefully he's settled in.
  14. Lol, pessimism runs deep here. I do understand why. I also understand that the vast majority of this team is made up of new faces, players and management alike.
  15. That bullet Cain hit to beat the Cubs on Monday gets forgotten quickly. He's spoiled some people here.
  16. It's exciting isn't it! You're touching on how the final decisions will be made a little better than most. One thing people are missing is that these guys have to be ready to go through a batting order multiple times. The Brewers used Woodruff and Burnes the way they did yesterday because they know they can successfully go through an order once. All three of Peralta, Burnes, and Woodruff are on the path to being fixtures of the rotation. Being on the path does not equal starting 2019 in the rotation. Woodruff for instance only had his fastball yesterday. Another trip through the Rockies lineup likely would have been ugly. Of the 3, only Peralta has demonstrated the ability to successfully navigate a MLB lineup multiple times through the order. Burnes has yet to be called on to even attempt it. And Woodruff has fared poorly the 2nd time through. Before anyone gets up in arms, that's not to say Burnes and Woodruff can't do it, it just means they're far from locks to be called on to do it out of the gate in 2019. Peralta is also ahead of both in terms of building up innings. Here are the splits for the 3 in their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd tiime through the order... Peralta - 1st (.176 BA, .315 OBP, .294 SLG, .609 OPS) Peralta - 2nd (.174 BA, .278 OBP, .276 SLG, ..654) Peralta - 3rd (.191 BA, .255 OBP, .319 SLG, .574 OPS) Burnes - 1st (.200 BA, .273 OBP, .326 SLG, .599 OPS) Burnes - 2nd - (only 1 batter faced a 2nd time through) Burnes - 3rd (none) Woodruff - 1st (.206 BA, .265 OBP, .317 SLG, .582 OPS) Woodruff - 2nd (.323 BA, .405 OBP, .484 SLG, .889 OPS) Woodruff - 3rd (only 2 batters faced a 3rd time through) Takeaways... - I don't know how anyone could look at those numbers for Peralta and not be excited. Notice also that his walk rate has gotten better the deeper he gets into the game. He doesn't nibble the 2nd and 3rd time through like many who aren't comfortable in their stuff. He attacks more. - Burnes hasn't demonstarted the ability to go through an order multiple times but he hasn't shown that he can't either. Burnes also has shown 2 very strong pitches nearly every time out including yesterday. He's very close. A 3rd pitch that he can throw 10-15% of time gets him over the hump. Again, he's very close. - Woodruff is the furthest from a lock of the 3, imo. He's been given the chance to navigate a lineup a 2nd time through and it hasn't been pretty. He needs to add more to his arsenal or he could stagnate as a very effective reliever. I have high hopes that all 3 can be fixtures of the future rotation. All 3 are displaying dominance at the major league level. All 3 have the ability to give multiple looks to major league hitters. None have taken steps backward and that's probably the most important factor in all this. Prediction for 2019... Peralta in the rotation from day 1. Burnes in the MLB bullpen from day 1, transitioned into MLB rotation full time during 2019 season Woodruff begins 2019 in AAA as a starter and makes spot starts in MLB rotation and finishes 2019 in MLB bullpen

  18. Value of defense showing up huge this inning. Arcia and Cain getting to balls many wouldn't. Don't be fooled by Cain not having to dive. Add in a walk and think about what might have been.
