  1. At the start of all this talk nobody even had Peralta on the 25 man except for me. I even went out on a limb saying he's a candidate to start. Now all the sudden everybody's acting like it's a foregone conclusion. Interesting swing.
  2. His defense is certainly not overvalued. If anything it remains underappreciated. All Arcia has to do is hit north of .250 and he's extremely valuable. How do fans think the Brewers had the most defensive runs saved in baseball? How do fans think the pitchers here magically overachieved? Arcia and Cain, and their ability to get to balls that other defenders wouldn't, is a huge reason why.
  3. Isn't this what we all expected when Cain and Yelich were brought in? Not to diminish the OP, but yeah the idea was to make more contact and they have. I suspect they'll continue to try and do so and that their acquisitions going forward will reflect that.
  4. That'll be the narrative in the Chicago papers tomorrow. It'll be MLB's fault. More like Mother Nature's fault. But that's karma for the weather shenanigans they themselves played previously.
  5. To me it looked obvious. That was a team that was flat worn out after having only 1 true off day since August 20th.
  6. People are cheering the fact that the Cubs lost and not the fact that the Brewers will be facing the Rockies. I will allow it. RIP Cubs 2018
  7. It's the Rockies officially so I'm expecting to see Peralta on the 25-man. Can't wait to see it unveiled.
  8. Except when Wade Davis gets a huge inning ending K with a Cub on 3rd. He called the swing and miss like it was Ball 1.
  9. Here's what I think we'll see for the NLDS with 1 spot depending on if the opponent is Colorado or if its Chicago. I think Peralta is on there if its the Rockies and Guerra if its the Cubs... C: Pina, Kratz (2) IF: Aguilar, Shaw, Moustakas, Arcia, Perez, Schoop (6) OF: Yelich, Cain, Braun, Santana, Granderson (5) P: Chacin, Miley, Gio, Hader, Jeffress, Knebel, Soria, Burnes, Woodruff, Cedeno, Jennings AND... P: Peralta (if Rockies) Guerra (if Cubs) (12)
  10. I think the Astros would disagree. As good as the Brewers are, the core they have is absolutely incredible and should be around for several years and may contain a few young HOF'ers. I'm certainly not taking credit away from Stearns, but Yelich is as much a credit to Stearns as it is a black mark on Jeter's personal moves. Aguilar was a great hit, but he was one of the many guys we were just taking a shot at(an idea I wholeheartedly embrace by the way, the 20 moves that didn't work out were more than worth it for a middle of the order bat under control for several years). But lets wait and see if we can develop and or use our system to trade for talent like Correa, Altuve, Springer, Cole, Verlander, Bergman and several others. The Cubs have given away some of the best young talent in the game for a good, not great young lefty in Quintana and 3 months of Chapman or I'd place them in that same group with the Astro's. Either way, point is, it's a bit early to say we've perfected rebuilding. For all the success, Stearns really hasn't gotten that much out of his draft picks just yet, much less his international signings. Sure but a lot of owners have no desire for a long, drawn out rebuild. A quick turnaround like done in Milwaukee gets every owners attention more so than 3 straight 100 loss seasons. What Stearns pulled off is every pro sports owners wet dream when they clean house and bring in someone new.

  12. What do we need Tuesday for, winning tomorrow gives us the day off. Of course. But CC could make the right decision for tomorrow's starter and still find the team playing on Tuesday. That's why I'd use Chase tomorrow if the wind is blowing in. I'd hate to have to pick between Chase or Davies vs a very potent Rockies/Dodgers lineup at the launching pad otherwise known as Miller Park.
  13. The poster had it right, the Cubs are using some key guys today. Are you just trying to pick fights with people for some odd reason?
  14. Depends on which way the wind is blowing when it comes to Anderson. Both Chacin and Anderson have pitched well at Wrigley this year. If the wind is blowing in, I think I go with Chase tomorrow.
  15. Given the games the Cubs have played with start times and postponements, I hope they're in for a very long day in which they ultimately lose at a very late hour. Karma.
  16. This level of fandom and dedication should be acknowledged and applauded. The only thing left for you to do today is get loud and blow the roof off MP. Bravo. Props to all of those who will be in attendance today. I hope you come away from today's game with lifelong memories of wild celebrations and the smell of champagne in the air.
  17. Brand new ballgame. I like the way Mikolas is throwing as opposed to Hamels. Just need the Cards to outscore the Cubs by 1 over the next five innings. That's not too much to ask.
  18. Let's get some optimism mixed in... No baseball game can be won without scoring at least 1 run. So being down 1-0 changes nothing for the Cards. They knew they needed to score and now it's time to go out there and get some runs!
  19. That's because you're looking at this like people are watching less out of protest. I'm tuning out because I can't trust what my eyes see anymore. I can't get excited about a big play anymore. After every touchdown, turnover, 4th down stop, sack, long punt return, I literally have to pause and wait for the other shoe to drop. When you suck the enjoyment out of what are supposed to be exciting plays, you don't have much of a product. The number of times I've gone from sheer joy to sheer disbelief and anger over a terrible judgement call just in recent years is enough for a lifetime. The NFL is over-legislating its product which makes the outcome far too dependent on the snap judgments of its officials. I'm not tuning to to learn the names of the guys in black and white stripes. When a sports creates more moments of frustration than joy, you start to ask why I am investing so much in this. Eventually you tune in less, until one day you find that you're barely watching. If I had to say where it all started, I'd say it was the Fail Mary. It's just gotten worse from there. I can't remember the last long punt return that wasn't called back. Now it's rising to that level with sacks of the QB. Face it, officials can determine an outcome of a game simply by making a judgement call on any given play they choose. Because something that could be "judged" as a violation literally happens on every play. And lately it has the feel that officials are wielding that power in a more active manner. Probably because the NFL has put more on their shoulders. And when a sport becomes dis-proportionally impacted by the non-athletes involved, I lose all interest.
  20. At the self-aware risk of being completely cast to the loony bin, I'll go so far as to say that Peralta gets a start if the Brewers face the Cards or Rockies in a series this postseason. :duckshead:
  21. I just don't know where Peralta would fit on the playoff roster. You likely aren't going to start him. He hasn't really pitched much out of the pen. They do seems to really like him though. I look at him as a weapon. He's dominant vs RHB. 144 Abs, .111 BA, .209 OBP, .188 SLG, .396 OPS against. That's extremely useful. VS RHB he's Haderesque
  22. Oooh, I want some friendly action on that one! Which means that we'll both be wrong and Jordan Lyles will grab that final pen spot. Lol, you never know. They might have some analytics that say Lyles is the way to go. Personally, going off rickh150's 25 man, I'd swap out Williams for Woodruff and have both he and Peralta on there.
  23. Oooh, I want some friendly action on that one!
  24. Seriously though. If the Brewers ever win the World Series, the first complaint about something will no doubt fly before the corks are popped on the champagne.
