  1. One thing's for sure...we're guaranteed at least twice the playoffs from 2019.
  2. Don’t forget playoff Arcia. He did quite well at Dodger Stadium in 2018 NLCS.
  3. Absolutely! IMO all of the pressure will be on LA. They are expected to win it all and we can go in with nothing to lose. After this crazy year and all of our troubles getting into this dance this is all gravy. Go Crew!! I really hope that’s the mood among the team going into the Dodgers series. I don’t know if it’s just me but the Brewers seemed stiff and uptight most of the season compared to the last couple years. Hopefully the Brewers play loose and with a chip on their shoulders from 2018.
  4. Interesting. I’d guess that’s probably the lowest percent chance among the 16 but not as low as I would have thought.
  5. All games in the Brewers-Dodgers series are being played at Dodger Stadium. We don't get even one game?? Not a one. Personally I agree with the rule and in a 3 game do or die series I think the higher seed should get all the games in their home stadium. I would be bummed though if fans were allowed at the ballparks and we didn’t get a home game.
  6. They would be livid! On the other hand, this is no regular 3 game series and the perception shouldn't be that it is. All of these wild card series will be hard fought. Strategically, all conventional bets are off. Whoever comes out on top in the first round shouldn't be delegitimized, although admittedly, the better team won't win 100% of the time. That's sports. I almost forgot...this is the optimism thread. So Brewers sweep.
  7. Thank you. And as I said in the 2020 playoff rules thread, let's just throw away the notion that a team has to have "x" number of wins to qualify for a spot. We can be glad we somehow got into the playoffs. Now let the chips fall where they may and let's enjoy every minute of it. Good, bad, or indifferent it's playoff baseball for the third straight year and I couldn't be more excited.
  8. The Reds' starting pitching is stacked so that seems the most logical upset. I'm happy the Brewers made it in, but I would have loved to see the Reds and Dodgers in a 3 game WC series, especially if Brewers got the 7 seed and Reds 8. Burnes/Woodruff and Buehler/Kershaw also would have been great. I'm with the Buster Douglas vs. Mike Tyson analogy. Our chances look so pathetically slim on paper that somehow, someway we win the series. Douglas lost decisively in his first title defense against Holyfield. I see them going the same route in the NLDS. But our legacy is shaking up the entire playoff landscape in 2020. That makes the current playoff rules a massive debate going into the offseason.
  9. All games in the Brewers-Dodgers series are being played at Dodger Stadium.
  10. Valid point but we’ve had the number one record a grand total of twice in our 50 year history. The rule changes, should they become permanent, will help us far more than hurt us.
  11. So here we are, 29-30. The excitement has been intense all weekend and we have meaningful baseball on the last day of the regular season. With a win on Sunday we're in the playoffs on a .500 record. We can technically make the #8 seed this year with a losing record. Anything can happen in a 3 game WC series. We have a legit chance (albeit very slim w/o Burnes) to knock off the Dodgers if we're #8. Win or lose it doesn't get much more exciting than this. And it gives us all a reason to care and pay attention right down to the last game. Meanwhile, people are arguing that a team should have a winning (or non-losing record) to qualify for the playoffs. Would you truly prefer we be out of contention after the STL loss on Friday night and hand the Dodgers a bye because we can't mathematically have a winning record? Just ridiculous. The 2020 playoff rules have already added a great deal of excitement. If you've been watching the STL series and following the team this weekend, pulling for a playoff berth, then you're a beneficiary of that. And guess what, it's made it more exciting for small market teams like Milwaukee and Cincinnati. It's made it exciting for fringe teams like San Francisco and Miami who bounce back from 105 losses a season ago to the playoffs this year. Not so much for the big market Dodgers, Braves and Cubs. Thank you MLB for actually thinking outside the box and defying the status quo.
  12. Unfortunately we could say the exact thing for fill in the blank pitcher pretty much all season.
  13. Yeah. And to make matters worse, this team has been the ultimate tease all season long. You think they’re going to finally have their grave covered in dirt but they hang out just close enough to tease a playoff spot.
  14. No surprise. That’s basically a microcosm of this season.
  15. But then I see us at the plate and it feels like it’s 10-0.
  16. Not saying they have to bunt all the time. But a bunt once in a while after a leadoff double might not be a bad thing.
  17. Looks like our luck is about to run out
  18. Yep. Now it’s just swing for the fences everyone. And then strikeout.
  19. What a broken record this season. Leadoff double and absolutely nothing to show for it
  20. You know you’re living in bizarro world when Haines magic actually works on Arcia.
  21. It’s fun popping a Rolaids every time the ball gets hit towards Keston now.
  22. Just in time for tomorrow’s double header.
