  1. Just some info to consider: Statistics from 2004-2006 YEAR AGE G AB R 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS 2004 22 152 626 104 19 11 55 35 81 59 15 .296 .331 .450 .781 2005 23 156 644 101 15 15 81 27 84 46 8 .301 .331 .469 .800 2006 24 147 585 85 15 18 76 35 83 56 9 .303 .345 .480 .825 Contract Situation 2006: 2.50M 2007: 4.00M 2008: 5.35M 2009: 8.25M (Team Option; 2.5M buyout) 2010: 10.00M - 11.5M based on escalators (Team Option; 1.25M buyout)
  2. Since I can't imagine either of them making the team out of Spring Training, I guess the next questions to ask is, "Which major league teams could these guys benefit?" Kansas City and Tampa Bay are the only clubs I can imagine taking a flyer on Hendrickson. Pretty much every other major league team has some hope for the upcoming season and wouldn't be able to stash him on the roster if he didn't pan out as a starter. I could see Krynzel being more valuable as extra outfielder for some teams. I'd hate to see these guys go for nothing after all the time we've spent developing them.
  3. paul, I think most of your needs were addressed in my proposal: Jenkins, Ohka and either Mench or Clark would be gone; I think we need one of Mench or Clark to stay as a bat off the bench and I see no reason to let Nix go.I wouldn't mind Koskie back, but if we're able to get a guy like Ensberg, I don't see the need to keep himGetting an established starter would be great, but the cost (either through trade or free agency) will be very high. If Mark decides to open his wallet and go over $60mil, this would be a great place to add some proven talent.I'm hoping we can get a solid 8th inning setup-type reliever for one of our outfielders (probably throwing in a pitching prospect like Hendrickson).Ensberg has had homerun seasons of 25 in 2003 (385 ABs) and 36 in 2005 (526 ABs) and has 22 this year in only 369 ABs... That along with likely 20+ from Hart should be plenty of power.I think given a full season, especially if he stays in the leadoff spot, Weeks could be your 30+ SB guy. He had 15 last year in 360 ABs and 19 this year in 359 ABs.
  4. Thanks for the clarification everyone!
  5. So if they aren't on our 25-man roster at the beginning of next season, do they become minor league free agents? And presumably, the same can be said for any team that obtained them via an off-season trade?
  6. Quick question as both of these guys have been around in the minors awhile now and don't appear to be in the Brewers long-term plans anymore... How does the 6-year minor league free agent stuff effect these guys? Do they have to be added to our 25-man roster this offseason to keep them? If we trade them, does their new team need to add them to their 25-man roster? (or 40-man?) I view both of these guys as players no longer in our plans, but could still be nice throw-ins for other teams in any potential off-season deals. So I was just curious to the specifics of their current status and how that may effect their tradability this winter. Thanks!
  7. Here's my revised off-season plan: Let'em walk: IF Tony Graffanino (offer arby) 3B David Bell SP Tomo Ohka (offer arby) SP Rick Helling RP Dan Kolb RP Jeremi Gonzalez Trade'em: 3B Corey Koskie, prospect(s) for Morgan Ensberg OF Brady Clark or Kevin Mench, for prospect(s)/relief pitcher RF Geoff Jenkins, $4mil for prospect(s)/relief pitcher Sign'em: LF Frank Catalanotto, 2 yrs $6mil (07: $2.5mil, 08: $3.5mil) Payroll: C Damian Miller 3.750 1B Prince Fielder 0.329 2B Rickie Weeks 0.500 3B Morgan Ensberg 4.500 SS Bill Hall 3.000 LF Frank Catalanotto 2.500 CF Gabe Gross 0.355 RF Corey Hart 0.329 C Mike Rivera 0.350 SS JJ Hardy 0.355 IF Jeff Cirillo 0.800 OF Mench/Clark 4.000 OF Nix/Gwynn 0.355 SP Ben Sheets 10.000 SP Chris Capuano 4.000 SP Doug Davis 4.500 SP David Bush 0.352 SP Carlos Villanueva 0.350 CL Francisco Cordero 5.000 RP Jose Capellan 0.330 RP TRADE ACQUISITION 3.000 RP Matt Wise 1.000 RP Derrick Turnbow 2.300 RP Brian Shouse 1.500 RP Dennis Sarfate 0.350 -------- Payroll 53.805 OF Geoff Jenkins 4.000 -------- Total Paid 57.805 Summary/Comments Adding Ensberg and Catalanotto to the lineup should provide some nice OBP boosts while providing similar power to Jenkins and Koskie: CAREER 2004-NOW Morgan Ensberg .371/.486/.857 .372/.484/.856 Frank Catalanotto .363/.455/.818 .369/.437/.806 Geoff Jenkins .349/.499/.848 .349/.474/.823 Corey Koskie .367/.458/.825 .340/.461/.801 And adding a proven (albeit possibly overpaid at ~$3mil) reliever could really solidify this bullpen. I'm not sure who might be available, but hopefully a deal could be struck with a team that would like to swap a reliever for an outfielder with similar contract situations. My total payroll of $57.805mil also allows the team to award a couple of our arbitration eligible players with multi-year contracts or more flexibility during the season for potential trades.
  8. I'll be there! If the heat isn't on, the beer will be http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  9. Well they do have Johan De La Rosa... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  10. Here's my stab at it: Let'em walk: IF Tony Graffanino (although I wouldn't mind him back at the right price; probably leaving Cirillo off the roster) 3B David Bell SP Tomo Ohka SP Rick Helling RP Dan Kolb RP Jeremi Gonzalez Trade'em: RF Geoff Jenkins, $4mil for prospect(s) SP Doug Davis for prospect(s), maybe a reliever Sign'em: SP Jason Schmidt, 4yrs $48mil (07: $13mil, 08: $13mil, 09: $12mil, 10: $10mil) Payroll: C Damian Miller 3.750 1B Prince Fielder 0.329 2B Rickie Weeks 0.500 3B Corey Koskie 2.000 SS JJ Hardy 0.355 LF Gabe Gross 0.355 CF Laynce Nix 0.355 RF Corey Hart 0.329 C Mike Rivera 0.350 IF Bill Hall 3.000 (starts against lefties at 3rd) IF Jeff Cirillo 0.800 OF Brady Clark 3.800 OF Kevin Mench 4.000 (starts against lefties in LF) SP Jason Schmidt 13.000 SP Ben Sheets 10.000 SP Chris Capuano 4.000 SP Yovanni Gallardo 0.350 SP David Bush 0.352 CL Francisco Cordero 5.000 RP Jose Capellan 0.330 RP Matt Wise 1.000 RP Derrick Turnbow 2.300 RP Brian Shouse 1.500 RP Dennis Sarfate 0.350 RP Dana Eveland 0.330 -------- Payroll 58.435 OF Geoff Jenkins 4.000 -------- Total Paid 62.435
  11. Ben Sheets versus Houston (career numbers) 18 GS, 3.64 ERA, 8.4 K/9, 1.7 BB/9, 1.24 HR/9 Looks like he handles them pretty well, despite an awful appearance against them earlier this season (2.1 IP, 7 ER)
  12. I'd much rather Obie was batting right now... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  13. FSN is televising 125 games this year. Not showing 37 games on a 26 week schedule translate to missing less than 1.5 games per week. Understandably, they may have stocked up on games closer to the beginning of the season when interest is more easily predicted. But that doesn't mean games won't be added to the schedule at the end of the season if the Brewers continue to draw interest (Mark A. payed for 5 games to be added last season and FSN threw in the final game for free). (Here's a nice article on the FSN contract) While it'd be nice to pick and choose which games are shown depending on team matchups and starting pitchers, these decisions were made prior to the season and I'm sure there is difficulty adding games to the schedule mid-season when other programming has already been assigned. I guess I just don't see the point in whining everytime a game is not on television when the VAST majority already are. If following the game is that important and you can't listen to Uecker on a local radio station, the $15 radio subscription on MLB.com is a great alternative. I agree it'd be great if every game was available on TV, but I guess it's just a pet peave of mine when people complain... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. God forbid us having to either actually go to the game or listen to Bob Uecker once a week when the game isn't televised! The injustice is unbearable!
  15. Because you have no faith in El Cabeza!!! 2-1 Crew!
  16. Maybe we can trade Graffanino for a young, talented lefty...
  17. Anyone want to place bets on whether this is Graffanino's only game with the Crew? He'd be useful on a contending team...perhaps the same team that ends up with Carlos...
  18. Another Madisonian here! Welcome and I'm also stoked about potential Madison-area Brewerfan.net activities!
  19. Jeffress dominant in three innings today: Batter 1: Strikeout Batter 2: Flyout Batter 3: Strikeout Batter 4: Strikeout Batter 5: Strikeout Batter 6: Groundout Batter 7: Flyout Batter 8: Strikeout Batter 9: Popout I like him more with every outing. I wonder what he was hitting on the guns today...
  20. AAAAhhhhh!!!!!! These guys are completely twisted!! I am going to go crazy!
  21. Wow! That was quick! I knew without a college commitment this should be a quick sign, but I don't remember any of our first rounders ever signing this fast. You've gotta love that the kid really wants to play and isn't worried about the financial side as much. Have any other teams signed their top pick yet?
  22. Also... Any relation between Jesse D'amico and our old buddy Jeff?
  23. Cool. We picked up Mike Goetz from UW-Milwaukee in the 25th round. I don't follow college baseball at all, so does anyone have a scoop on him? I thought I read somewhere that he led Division I baseball with like a .470 batting average...
  24. Neifi Perez made two errors on the play somehow...lol
  25. That's four straight innings leaving the bases loaded going back to Wednesday's game...
