Yeah, I don't mind 0-2 fastballs if they are high and tight. Woulda been a good pitch to Puig too. They set up on the outer half with the fastball which was the exact wrong thing to do after throwing him four other pitches out there.
I really don't think that awful 0-2 pitch was lost on anyone. It's been discussed. Think he was referring to the second one of the inning on the walk off. It was equally bad as the one to Puig. The whole pitch sequence to Inglesias was just awful once they got to two strikes. The dude was diving out at everything and was just begging to get buzzed up and in with a fastball. You got an upper 90s fastball. Use it.
The thing I love about Yelich is his mechanics. The hands start out almost at the proper launch point and there's almost no wasted movement. The more things move around the more chance there is for something to not be in the right place at the right time.
I sure wish they could get Arcia at a cut down on all the pre-launch movement. So many things moving at once that he tends to be late getting his hands to the proper launchpoint.
I would be more interested into stats for the first 3 weeks after Home Run Derby as I don't think it affects the whole second half just 15 or 20 games immediately after the derby
I think he’ll do well. I enjoy watching him hit batting practice because his line drive home runs are a thing of beauty. He shouldn’t need to alter his swing at all for the derby. I hope it doesn't screw him up. We have seen plenty of guys that got messed up for a bit after it.
You hate umpires. You want to know the funny part. I used to umpire quite a bit of high school baseball. Also did a lot of Youth Basketball. My motto was don't go looking for trouble it will find you on its own.
