  1. Gonna cast my lure: - Do we see any of the following as having the MLB stuff and discipline necessary to protect them in the Rule 5 draft this winter?: - Chad Patrick - Evan McKendry - Alexander Cornielle - Blake Holub - Justin Yeager
  2. - INF Juan Baez sent by Low-A Carolina on rehab assignment to ACL Brewers
  3. It's quite impressive to see the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers keep churning out wins, despite: only having 26 players on the active roster (they could have up to 30). having the youngest average age in the Midwest League (per BRef based on games played to date). having a roster which can be perceived as relatively light on top prospects, with only Lara, Adams and maybe Areinamo getting love. They're 9-2 over their last 11 games. Way to go T-Rats!
  4. - RHP Nolan Blackwood transferred to Development List by AAA Nashville - LHP Nick Bennett transferred to Development List by AAA Nashville
  5. The AAA Sounds host the mediocre Iowa Cubs this week and have LHP DL Hall making his 8th rehab start for them (1.98 ERA - great, 1.83 WHIP - bad, 10 Ks in 13.2 IP). 2B Isaac Collins comes in with an 8-game hitting streak.
  6. The AA Shuckers are 19-9 over their last 28 games and play at abominable Reds’ affiliate Chattanooga (23-58) this week. 23-year old RHP Bradley Blalock pitched 7 scoreless, 1-hit innings in his last outing. LF Adam Hall has an 8-game hitting streak.
  7. High-A Wisconsin hosts Tigers’ affiliate West Michigan. 22-year old RHP Alexander Cornielle starts the opening game, having thrown 6 scoreless innings in his last start. DH Jesus Chirinos has reached base in 19 straight games (excluding 1-PA games).
  8. The Low-A Mudcats play a 6-game set at Nationals’ affiliate Fredericksburg this week, 18-year old RHP Manuel Rodriguez has covered 31 IP with a 2.61 ERA over his last 5 outings. C David Garcia has an 11-game on-base streak.
  9. Yeah, DSL Brewers Dos and DSL Pirates Gold already have a doubleheader scheduled for August 8, so they'll probably add this "continuation game" to the game scheduled for August 16. Our young Dos men have a lot of ground to make up on Pirates Gold, so they'll be hoping to get the chance to play (and WIN) all 4 of these games.
  10. DSL Brewers-1 had jumped out to a 3-0 lead against DSL Orioles Orange, but the weather suspended play in the 4th inning. The two squads are battling for first place in the 8-team DSL Northwest division, so July 25th will likely now be a big date on their calendars (i.e. scheduled game plus presumed completion of today's suspended game). Stats-wise, SS Jesus Made (single, SB), 3B Luis Pena (triple, 2 RBIs), DH Juan Ortuno (single, RBI) and RHP Ayendy Bravo (4 scoreless innings, 4 Ks) should all benefit from this game ultimately being completed.
  11. Thank you for this write-up. Option A: We take our chances with the waiver wire, then live with Francisco Mejia and Brian Navarreto as emergency options until we can scoop up someone else. Option B: We go with 3 catchers on the MLB roster for 8 weeks (then stick with it once MLB rosters expand), knowing that some other position player injury is probably on the horizon anyway. Frelick, Mitchell, Perkins, Monasterio (would burn an option year) and Capra (likely goes when Ortiz returns) can each be optioned for 15 days without any true harm. Option C: We try to immediately "buy" Haase back from whoever claims him (see Nottingham, Jacob - May 2021).
  12. Transactions: RHP Taylor Clarke cleared waivers and outrighted to remain at AAA Nashville Game Action: Final: ACL Cubs 9, ACL Brewers 0 Box Score and Game Log Yeah, this was obviously a trouncing but let’s go behind the final score. Through 4 innings, our Arizona Crew had stranded 9 baserunners and trailed 1-0. In fact, it remained 1-0 until starting 19-year old RHP Bryan Rivera tired in the 6th inning (issuing 2 walks) and gave way to LHP Osbriel Mogollon, who conceded a triple and homer to the first two batters he faced for a 5-0 deficit. Rivera’s final line is thus less kind: 5 1/3 IP, 3 R, 2 H, 4 BB, 4 Ks, but we should be encouraged with the overall performance. As for the offense: generating just 4 singles, 8 walks and an HBP over a full 9-inning game was less encouraging. Stranding 12 baserunners while going 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position and striking out 11 times indicates further frustration. Other than Rivera, we can note the positive contributions of 2B Josh Adamczewski (2-for-5, SB; season OPS of .950), 1B Johan Barrios (1-for-3, walk) and RHP Samuel Valerio (1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K). The loss drops the ACL Brewers to 20-27, with a game at the ACL Reds (26-22) scheduled for Tuesday. Final: DSL Brewers Uno 12, DSL Pirates Black 3 (in 7 innings as scheduled) Box Score and Game Log January 2024 super-signing SS Jesus Made (DHing today) had a leadoff double to spark a 4-run first inning, then smacked a 3-run homer in the fourth inning to restore the advantage to 7-3. Thanks to @wiguy94 in our daily forum, we even have video of that sweet, confident swing via Jesus' Instagram feed: https://www.instagram.com/stories/jesusmadez/3407826311715163637/ Made also singled, walked and stole a base in DSL Brewers Uno’s 12-3 victory over DSL Pirates Black, raising his season OPS to an otherworldly 1.206 OPS. Entering with that 7-3 advantage, 17-year old RHP Manuel Moreno from Panama shut things down from there: 4 IP, 0 R, 1 H (a single), 0 BB, 1 WP, 5 Ks. That’s Moreno’s 3rd straight scoreless appearance, lowering his season ERA to 2.04. What a fun day for the offense: all 9 players scored, 8 collected at least one hit, 7 had at least one RBI and 7 drew walk(s). Alongside Made in the >1.000 season OPS club are SS Luis Pena (1.123) and 2B Juan Ortuno (1.034), who both reached base twice. C Freider Rojas (.889) and 1B Joandrew Pena (.695) each reached base 3 times. 18-year old RHP Gerson Colmenarez had started the game, conceding 1 run on a single and 3 walks in 2.1 IP, maintaining a solid 1.69 season ERA (though in just 5.1 IP total). The victory pushes Team Uno’s record to 16-8 and they’re due to host terrific DSL Orioles Orange (18-7) on Tuesday. Final: DSL CLE Goryl 6, DSL Brewers Dos 3 Box Score and Game Log This game marked the organizational debut of 18-year old RHP Aldrin Gonzalez, who was rumored to throw 95mph when signed in January 2023, before he lost a full year due to injury. Gonzalez started and faced 5 batters (0.2 IP, 2 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 1 K) in this contest. Congrats to him on the recovery and return! The Dos squad was no-hit thru 4.1 IP and trailed DSL CLE Goryl 3-1 when they got the first 2 batters aboard in the 6th inning. However, a pitching change saw CLE’s reliever come in and register 3 straight Ks. Team 2 threatened again in the bottom of the 9th inning, getting the potential game-tying batter to the plate with 2 outs, but a fly out ended it with a final score of 6 to 3. LF Pedro Tovar tripled, 1B Eduardo Charles doubled and had a sac fly, 2B Moises Polanco singled, walked and stole 3 bases. The team went 7-for-7 in steal attempts, but 1-for-11 with RISP and produced only 4 hits. On the mound, RHPs Johan Zapata and Lenin Mendez combined on a promising line of 5.1 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 0 BB, 2 Ks. The loss drops the team to 14-11. The schedule shows a doubleheader against formidable DSL Pirates Gold tomorrow. We hope that you enjoy the Minor League Link Report. On Tuesday, the full season affiliates return from their 2-day break, with Nashville (LHP DL Hall yet again?!) and Wisconsin (RHP Alexander Cornielle) playing at home. That means there are 8 minor league games on the schedule, plus the Brewers hosting the Pirates. 13. Shortstop Jesus Made doubled, singled and homered in his first 3 at-bats, leading DSL Brewers Uno to a big victory. However, DSL Brewers Dos and the ACL Brewers both struggled. 15. Today was the organizational debut of 18-year old RHP Aldrin Gonzalez, who I believe was said to throw about 94mph when signed in January 2023, before he lost a full year due to injury. He started for DSL Brewers-2 today, facing 5 batters (0.2 IP, 2 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 1 K). Congrats to him on the recovery and return. The Dos squad was no-hit thru 4.1 IP and trailed DSL CLE Goryl 3-1 when they got the first 2 batters aboard in the 6th inning. 16. Super-signing SS Jesus Made (DHing in this game) has a 3-run homer, double, single, walk and stolen base through 6 innings for DSL Brewers-1, who lead DSL Pirates Black 8-3 at this point. Made's season OPS is now 1.220. Woooooooooo!!!!!!!!! The two squads are playing a doubleheader today.

  18. I’m not sure where to post this, but it’s awesome:
  19. 26-year old RHP Evan McKendry starts for AAA Nashville on 4 days’ rest, having yielded 1 run with 6 Ks in 5.2 IP on Monday. The Sounds need a home victory over Memphis for a 3-3 series tie. C Brian Navarreto has a 5-game hitting streak.
  20. Flame-throwing 22-year old RHP Jacob Misiorowski (3.58 ERA, 1.34 WHIP. 11.6 K/9 in 60.1 IP) starts for AA Biloxi, who aim to polish off a 5-1 home-and-away series win at Mississippi. LF Lamar Sparks has a 5.-game hitting streak and the team welcomes recently-signed RF Connor Scott.
  21. High-A Wisconsin gets a second chance to clinch a series win at home over Beloit, with rehabbing RHP Joe Ross getting tonight’s start. 3B Luke Adams is 3rd in OBP (.423), 3rd in walks (51) and 1st in HBP (21) in the Midwest League.
  22. Low-A Carolina has work to do, needing a win at home over Down East tonight to tie this week’s away-and-home series 3-3. 19-year old RHP Bishop Letson threw 5 scoreless innings in his last outing (though just 1 K).
  23. 17-year old C Luis Corobo hit his first professional homer for DSL Brewers-2 and they lead 7-2 in the 3rd inning despite grounding into a triple play. DSL Brewers-1 were rained out.
  24. It looks like ACL Brewers’ manager Rafael Neda has his hands full with the Tyler Rodriguez/Luiyin Alastre shortstop experiment: combined 14 errors in 187.2 innings this year. By contrast, Filippo Di Turi had 5 errors in 156.1 innings at the position before his promotion to Low-A Carolina. I count the ACL squad as having 15 games remaining.
  25. - 3B Owen Miller cleared waivers and outrighted to remain at AAA Nashville - RHP Janson Junk optioned to AAA Nashville from MLB Brewers - RHP Rafael Garcia activated from 7-day injured list and assigned to ACL Brewers Garcia threw 49.2 innings in the ACL in 2021, but has only pitched 1.1 innings over the last 2.5 seasons due to injuries.
