Mets (Severino) vs Brewers (Peralta): 10/1/24, 4:32pm

We seemed flustered by Severino’s pickoff move. Whatever he did, it seemed to keep Mitchell from stealing, which probably then saved the Mets a run. -

Winker getting a big playoff hit against the Brewers, then yapping it up proves there’s no justice in the world. Like a thief coming back to the crime scene to laugh at us. Find a way to overcome, men. We can do it. -
2024 Minor League Transaction Thread

- RHP Mitch White elected free agency I thought we might select the 29-year old’s contract after such a strong stretch run at AAA Nashville (2.08 ERA with 45 Ks in final 39.0 IP). Tough decision. Best of luck landing an MLB contract and starting pitching gig, Mitch! -
Hehe. Wenderlyn was my pick as well, though at age 19 (after a late August birthday) I guess he's a bit older. He put up excellent numbers despite a .376 BABIP, striking out 6 or more hitters in 4 of his 10 games played.

Mets (Peterson) vs Brewers (Rea): 9/29/24, 2;10pm

EVs against Milner: 107.2 grounder, 103.0 liner, 71.9 grounder, 97.1 fly. Sorry man. Hoped you'd figure it out. Hudson may not have his best stuff, but maybe he's less risky than Milner (or Mears - but that's another story). -
Right or wrong, I went with Pena. Higher average, slugging, more SBs, RBIs, fewer errors playing basically the same SS/3B/2B mix. Of course, Made is 6 months younger, with elite exit velocity, more HRs, better BB/K ratio. And he’s also the future MLB MVP. It’s an awesome time to have these kinds of prospects!

My predictive power is apparently Nil, but I’ll guess Walling, Timmerman and Costello for the Aussie league. We should hear in about a month. -
Thank you for this. I assume the Hudson ship has sailed or we would have recalled him by now. He got solid results in AAA, but I guess the underlying data don’t favor him. What about DL Hall? He’s had some up and down performances. Is he an alternative to Milner and Hudson?

Chris Roller, Tyler Black, Patrick Dorrian and Wes Clarke each homered in Nashville’s convincing win, with Bryan Hudson making his pitch to rejoin The Show. For the week, Nashville managed to claw back to earn a 3-3 series split at Norfolk. Transactions: N/A Game Action: Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Nashville 12, Norfolk 3 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Sounds Trounce Tides in Season Finale After dropping three straight in Norfolk to start the series, Manager Rick Sweet and the Nashville Sounds picked themselves off the mat to end the 2024 season with a three-game winning streak. Sunday’s finale took a pitching committee approach, with starting RHP Easton McGee retiring 9 of 10 batters faced, striking out 4 while issuing no walks, then handing over to four bullpen arms. Norfolk’s starter also retired 9 of the first 10 Sounds, but center fielder Chris Roller (1-for-2, HR, walk, RBI) made sure the second time through the order was not smooth sailing with a 4th inning leadoff homer igniting Nashville’s offense. A single by OF Brewer Hicklen (3-for-6, double, RBI), error and two walks produced a second run before SS Freddy Zamora brought two more Sounds home with a 2-out double for a 4-0 advantage. Any thought of a Norfolk comeback in front of their 5,481 home fans was essentially put to rest with another Hicklen single and 1B Tyler Black 2-run blast for a 7-0 lead in the 5th inning, followed three batters later by a 3B Patrick Dorrian 3-run rocket. Each of RHP Evan McKendry (2 1/3 IP), LHP Bryan Hudson (1 2/3 IP) and RHP Shane Smith (1 IP) contributed scoreless relief outings, with most eyes on Hudson of course as he tries to earn a spot on the Brewers’ playoff roster. Hudson faced six batters, getting three strikeouts, two ground outs and conceding one hard hit double to old friend Garrett Cooper. The five swinging strikes were encouraging, although the velocity on his sweeper is not yet back to where it was earlier in the season. All nine Sounds' position players produced at least one hit, with DH Wes Clarke having perhaps the best offensive game of all: 3-for-4, HR, walk, RBI. The 24-year old had a sneakily-solid season, producing an .812 OPS in 425 plate appearances (including 373 PAs in his first opportunity at the AAA level), with 21 home runs and 72 RBIs. Sounds’ Extras: Black set aside a rough patch (16-for-99 from August 4 – September 18 with 31 Ks, 18 walks and 2 SBs) to end the Minor League season with a 4-game hitting streak, including home runs in his final 2 games. Will this be enough to grab a spot on the Brewers’ postseason roster? After getting cups of coffee in The Show in 2022 and 2023 (combined 9 2/3 IP) then spending much of the 2024 campaign rehabbing from a 2023 surgery, McGee will have his eye on returning to the Majors at some point in 2025. C Andy Yerzy saw his first game action in 3 months, contributing two singles in five at-bats, with no Norfolk player attempting to steal. Late season signing RHP Sam McWilliams was the only Sound pitcher to run into difficulty on this day, conceding 3 runs on 5 hits in the 8th inning. One would imagine the goal is to get him into the pitching lab, then back to Nashville next April, but let’s see how things proceed. Congratulations to RHP Chad Patrick for leading the 20-team International League in basically every starting pitching category imaginable: This report polishes off a victory-filled 2024 Minor League Season for the Milwaukee Brewers’ affiliates, with seven squads combining for a regular season record of 389 wins and 320 losses (.549 win percentage). Of course, the Brewers’ big league campaign continues, with six regular season games remaining. They’re off on Monday, but will be in Pittsburgh for a 5:40pm CST game on Tuesday. 3 Ks and 5 whiffs for Hudson in 1.2 scoreless innings. He did concede a walk and a hard hit double (to old friend Garrett Cooper), but I think this is a positive step for Hudson. Expect him to be recalled to MLB tonight or tomorrow to avoid using up an option year. He'll likely get 2 games in the majors to earn a spot on the playoff roster. Back-to-back doubles by CD-Rod and Hicklen pushed the lead to 12-0. -

Five consecutive hits to open the 5th innings have the Sounds off to the races, including a Tyler Black 2-run homer and Patrick Dorrian 3-run blast. 10-0 Nashville. Woo hoo! Who wants to bet whether Tyler Black will be on the playoff roster? -

Easton McGee ends his season on a solid note, retiring 9 of 10 batters. He K'd 4, walked none and only allowed a single. Chris Roller walked his first time up, then hit a solo homer to lead off the 4th inning for a 1-0 lead. Brewer Hicklen singled and scored on walk, then Freddy Zamora delivered a 2-out, 2-run double as Norfolk's starter faded. Sounds lead 5-0 and Evan McKendry comes in for the bottom of the 4th. -

The Brewers’ 2024 Minor League season finale sees Nashville needing a win to even this week’s series at Norfolk 3-3. 26-year old RHP Easton McGee (8.02 ERA in AAA with 16 Ks in 21.1 IP) gets the start and C Andy Yerzy makes his first game appearance in 3 months. -
Luis Lara may start the 2025 season as the center fielder at AA Biloxi, after stealing 45 bases with top-notch defense at Wisconsin. Interesting 2025 placement decisions certainly loom for many players. My guess is Burke and EBJ stay at their current levels and AA Biloxi initially looks like this: 1B - Adams 2B - Areinamo 3B - Wilken SS - Pratt CF - Lara Everyday UT - O’Rae, EBJ C - Miller, Wood Gap pluggers: Murray, Warren, Garcia, Martin, Hall (assuming 16-month deal) Injury depth: Kahle, Metzinger

Yup. Francisco Mejia has a walk and a 2-run shot today, the latter pushing us to a 3-1 lead. I was trying to think of how we might get Mejia to re-up on a 2025 MILB deal, but I just don’t see why he’d do it with Contreras, Haase and Quero being the priorities. Gonna just wish Mejia awesome luck wherever his path takes him.
