  1. I guess we just drive other teams’ coaches crazy. For the 2nd straight day, an opposing coach is ejected. Today, it’s Cedar Rapids’ hitting coach. Wisconsin leads 14-8 in the 7th inning.
  2. SS Gregory Barrios’ 8th double (He’s not a Man, he’s a Machine!) of the season knocks in 2 more runs. Wisconsin is now up 11-6 after 5 innings.
  3. Back-and-forth game in Appleton. T-Rats scored 3, Kernels responded with 5, T-Rats countered with another 5. 8-5 Wisconsin after 4 innings. Wisconsin likely regrets 2 outs on the bases early, but Cedar Rapids will regret their 3 errors. Alexander Cornielle had thrown 34 pitches in the 3rd inning alone, leading 3-1 with 2 outs, so exited for Wehrle who promptly gave up a bases-clearing double to lose the lead at that time and push Cornielle’s ERA up a few more notches. Wisconsin has stolen 5 of 6 bases thru 4 innings. Unfortunately Luke Adams exited after singling, stealing a base and scoring in that 5-run 4th inning. Tayden Hall - paging Tayden Hall over in Augusta…
  4. C/1B Wes Clarke placed on AA Biloxi's 7-day injured list retroactive to April 19 OF/INF Eduardo Garcia placed on AA Biloxi's 7-day injured list retroactive to April 19
  5. I wanted to listen to this interview with AA Manager Joe Ayrault Live last night, but passed out as it was starting (rough week). He gives nuggets on a number of topics in a short time - e.g. better news on Clarke, waiting (presumably for injury scan results) on Brown. I didn’t even realize Woessner is pronounced WAYS-NER. And apparently Dirden and Carlson are on the all-beard team:
  6. RHP Alexander Cornielle has a 0.00 ERA in innings 1-3 and a 13.50 ERA in innings 4-6, so he’ll try to put it all together for High-A Wisconsin today as they seek a 3-2 home series lead over Cedar Rapids. The promotion of 3B/1B Mike Boeve to Biloxi means more playing time for 1B Jesus Chirinos (0 BB / 10 K this year after a 64/102 ratio last year).
  7. - INF Mike Boeve promoted to AA Biloxi from High-A Wisconsin - INF Jose Acosta assigned to AA Biloxi from Low-A Carolina
  8. And Matt Wood’s crushed homer:
  9. Barrios’ Go-Ahead Double early in Wisconsin’s blowout win:
  10. Martinez’s Go-Ahead Single for Biloxi:
  11. After the Shuckers probably got a favorable call to plate a run on a sac fly in the 6th inning (with Chattanooga’s manager arguing in vain and ejected), here’s Dirden’s game tying hit in the 7th inning:
  12. And here’s the Hicklen Go-Ahead Solo Shot:
  13. It’s not the best look, but here’s the Yophery Go-Ahead Slam:
  14. And the other game? Wisconsin? The one which Brett Wichrowski started? Well, he conceded a run in the top of the 1st inning, then the Timber Rattlers scored 12 unanswered runs(!!) over the first 3 frames, highlighted by a SS Gregory Barrios 2-run double (his 7th double of 2024) and a C Matt Wood 3-run homer. Wisconsin now leads 12-3 in the 8th inning. Unstoppable Mike Boeve, after collecting a walk and 2 singles, exited after just 4 innings of play. I pray it’s for a positive or nothing-burger reason.
  15. Yeager and Yerzy go with high heat to the next batter, who goes down swinging. And then he wins a tough 9-pitch battle to K the final hitter swinging. Shuckers win 5-3. Three comeback wins for our minor league squads tonight!
  16. Here’s RHP Justin Yeager for Biloxi, aiming to convert his 4th save in 4 chances. He gets a strike out swinging, but walks the second batter on 4 pitches.
  17. That’s 2 exciting comeback wins. Have the Shuckers fully turned around that 3-0 deficit in Biloxi? You bet they have! After RHP Nick Merkel induced a ground ball double play to escape a 2-on, 1-out situation in the top of the 8th inning, Biloxi takes the lead on an Ernesto Martinez 2-out single that scores CD Rodriguez (who singled) in the bottom half of the inning. Then Justin Dirden collects his 2nd hit and Martinez scores on a wild pitch. It’s 5-3 Shuckers going into the final inning!
  18. In Augusta, RHP Harrison Durow converted his 3rd save in 3-up, 3-down fashion in front of 4,440 shell-shocked fans. Yophery Rodriguez’s 9th inning grand slam wins it for the Mudcats 5-3!!
  19. Middendorf gets out of it: line out, ground out, digging a little deeper to peak at 96.3mph on the 2nd last pitch. Sounds win 3-2 on that 8th inning solo shot by Hicklen. Yay!
  20. Over in Nashville, Manager Rick Sweet can’t call upon closer Enoli Paredes (pitched last 2 games) to protect a 3-2 ninth inning lead and opts not to extend Kevin Herget for a 2nd inning. Instead it’s Ryan Middendorf who’s tasked with closing this one out. He walks the first batter on 4 pitches. Gets a fly out. Throws a wild pitch. Hits a batter. C’mon Ryan!!
  21. Holy bleeping bleeping blapping big bopping moly. Yophery: Rodriguez’s First Pitch Grand Slam to left center field!! That’s his first homer of 2024! What a moment! It’s 5-3 Mudcats here in the 9th inning. Woo hoo!!!!
  22. Acosta walks ‘em full, Baez gets an infield single to bring 1 run in. Now it’s 3-1, bases still loaded with 1 out and 18-year old CF Yophery Rodriguez comes up to try to keep the road rally going.
  23. C David Garcia walked and LF Yhoswar Garcia singled with 1 out. Veteran 2B Jose Acosta and 18-year old 3B Juan Baez get the chance notch a massive hit with the Mudcats trailing 3-0 and down to their final 2 outs.
  24. The Mudcats are 0-for-8 with RISP and have no extra-base hits, trailing 3-0 in the top of the 9th inning. Josh Knoth conceded 1 run in 2.1 IP, Jesus Rivero 2 runs in 3.2 IP. At least Aidan Maldonado has thrown 2 scoreless innings in a bounceback for him.
  25. Chad Patrick had a terrific outing for Nashville (2 hits, 0 BB in 6 IP - 1 HR), but the offense’s squandered opportunities (1-for-11 with RISP) kept the game 1-1. Recently-claimed RHP Corbin Martin then conceded a run in his debut relief inning. But Vinny Capra (7th inning) and Brewer Hicklen (8th inning) each hit solo homers and the Sounds grab a 3-2 advantage. Hang on!
