  1. Trailing 4-3, White allows the first 3 batters aboard in the top of the 6th inning: HBP, single, HBP. God help this man.
  2. The Mitch White 2024 experience is unpleasant, although I feel bad for the guy. I think he accepted the outright to Nashville, because he believes this organization can help him get on track.
  3. Yeah. Gotta wonder whether Enniel Cortez's promotion was rushed due to some unknown issue with Letson.
  4. RHP Jesus Rivero (6.55 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, 12.3 K/9 in 34.1 IP) makes his first start for Low-A Carolina since a disaster outing on May 8 (six relief appearances since). Carolina leads the series in Columbia 5 games to 1. DH/INF Cooper Pratt’s on-base streak is 29 games.
  5. Murphy likely wants Mitchell back, but if he gets hurt again in the majors (there’s been zero opportunity for service time manipulation with Mitchell thus far), it might break Matt Arnold. Two months optioned to the minors might make Arnold feel better.
  6. 24-year old RHP Shane Smith makes his 2nd start of the week for AA Biloxi at Rocket City, likely piggy-backing with LHP Nate Peterson as the Shuckers try to polish off a 5-1 series win. CF Carlos D. Rodriguez has a 13-game on-base streak with 18 hits and 8 walks.
  7. Valerio goes down swinging. T-Rats fall 6-5 despite getting lots of 2-out traffic throughout the game (10 LOB vs. 5 for Fort Wayne). Each team allowed several unearned runs. The clubs split the series 3-3.
  8. Ugh. GIDP for Matt Wood on a 2-0 pitch. 6-5, Adams on 3rd, Valerio up with 2 outs.
  9. An error, outfield hit and infield hit have loaded the bases with nobody out. Let's go Wood, Valerio and Garcia!!
  10. Wisconsin trails 6-4 in the top of the 9th inning, but has the heart of the order up (Barrios, Areinamo, Adams) against a non-dominant Fort Wayne reliever. Time for some magic, hopefully.
  11. RHP Garrett Stallings makes his 2nd start of the week (5.1 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 2 BB, 4 Ks on Tuesday) at home against Durham, with AAA Nashville needing a victory to achieve a 3-3 series split. C Eric Haase makes his first appearance in 8 days.
  12. I thought the same thing about Garcia. Unfortunately Valerio likely has no trade value, since he’s in his 7th MILB season.
  13. RHP Alexander Cornielle (3.24 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 7.4 K/9 in 50 IP) and High-A Wisconsin kick off Sunday action, looking to secure a 4-2 series win at Fort Wayne. 3B Eduardo Garcia starts at his 3rd different position in his last 3 games.
  14. - C Eric Haase activated by AAA Nashville from taxi squad - C Nick Kahle placed on temporarily inactive list by AAA Nashville
  15. Meeker clearly couldn’t locate - 3 walks. Other players hacking at the first pitch, expecting and receiving a meatball as Meeker aimed to deliver a first pitch strike. But RHP Joel Kuhnel impressed. Pounded the zone and got lots of whiffs. 96.4mph isn’t anything amazing, but he’s lining himself up for a call-up. This is his final option year, so we might as well get the most out of him. Only issue is the MLB 40-man roster spot we’d need to open up, though that’s complicated by Mitchell and Hall also requiring 40-man slots to be opened.
  16. The last 2 outings haven’t gone as planned for LHP Aaron Ashby (8 IP; 11 ER, 5 Ks), so let’s hope he can turn it around tonight. The AAA Sounds are tied 2-2 in their home series against Durham. DH Wes Clarke has a 13-game hitting streak.
  17. 22-year old RHP Logan Henderson (3rd AA start - 1.69 ERA with 13 Ks in 10.2 IP at this level)) and Biloxi aim to close out a series win at Rocket City. The offense will need to step up despite missing their top 2 hitters by OPS (Campbell, Boeve).
  18. High-A Wisconsin is tied 2-2 in their series at Fort Wayne and have 20-year old RHP Yujanyer Herrera (3.56 ERA, 1.23 WHIP. 11.1 K/9 in 48 IP) making his 6th start (12th appearance) of 2024 tonight. 2B Jadher Areinamo has a 6-game hitting streak.
  19. Low-A Carolina leads this week’s series in Columbia 4 games to 1 and has 18-year old Josh Knoth (4.05 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, 10.8 K/9 in 40 IP) on the mound to keep it rolling. Old man (24) C David Garcia has thrown out 34% of basestealers this year and hit safely in 6 of his last 7 games.
  20. Rehabbing 26-year old RHP Easton McGee started for ACL Brewers, his first game action since a 6.2-inning start for the Mariners on April 29, 2023.
  21. - DSL Brewers 1 transferred RHP Esmir Suarez from the 7-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
  22. My understanding is that the 60/full season injured players don’t count. I’ve got us at 173 players rostered, minus 13 long-term injured and 12 optioned players, so that’s 148 (well, 149 with Flores now promoted stateside - i.e. 16 open slots). Last year we signed 18 draft picks and 6 non-drafted players (Whiting, Hunt, etc.), so I’m sure the team is readying itself for those additions late next month and doesn’t want to have to make deep cuts at that time.
  23. - RHP Easton McGee of AAA Nashville sent on rehab assignment to ACL Brewers - LHP Bjorn Johnson activated from ACL Brewers’ 7-day injured list - RHP Jesus Flores promoted to ACL Brewers from DSL-Brewers2
  24. I wonder if RHP Alexander Vallecillo has gone the route of a few other Brewers' minor leaguers who essentially fade from the system with no formal transaction note (e.g. released, retired). He last pitched September 5, 2023 and isn't showing on any injured list to my knowledge. In recent years, RHP Justin Bullock, RHP Ray Black, RHP Jose Chavez and OF Jose Gonzalez (DSL-level) similarly disappeared from rosters without a note, although the club later back-dated a transaction release post for Chavez (September 25, 2023). Accounting for recent activity (and excluding Vallecillo), I note the organization as having 148 stateside players on minor league contracts who are not on 60-day or full season injured lists. I think that's a relatively healthy margin below the 165-MILB player cap, to be largely filled from the July draft and a few non-drafted player signings.
  25. - RHP Bradley Blalock optioned to AA Biloxi by MLB Brewers - RHP Taylor Clarke placed on AAA Nashville’s 7-day injured list
