What an outing for DeBerry. Gonna give props to Miller too, as a DeBerry pitch-whisperer, even with the 2 catchers' interference. Too bad the offense couldn't cash in on that Eduardo double and Spain single in the top half of the 6th inning.

High-A Wisconsin aims for a 2-0 series lead at Peoria behind 19-year old (20 on Friday) RHP Manuel Rodriguez (1.73 ERA, 0.87 WHIP, 8.0 K/9 in 52 IP). CF Yhoswar Garcia has a .552 OPS, but is 3rd in the Midwest League with 48 SBs.

C Eric Haase (.647 OPS in MLB) makes his first appearance since accepting an assignment to AAA Nashville. RHP Chad Patrick (3.40 ERA in 116.1 MLB/AAA IP) seeks to lead the squad to a 1-1 home series tie against Jacksonville. LF Daz Cameron has a 17-game on-base streak.

Just-promoted RHP Jaron DeBerry (4.83 ERA in High-A/Low-A) makes his AA Biloxi debut and 3B Eduardo Garcia (.776 OPS in High-A) returns to action (and up an affiliate level) after exiting Saturday’s game early. The Shuckers trail their series at Knoxville 1 game to 0.

Collins had 509 career AAA PAs before his MLB call-up. And I think most of us are surprised he's adapted as quickly as he has. Durbin had 433 career AAA PAs before his call-up and we've seen how long it took him to adapt to MLB ball. By contrast, Seigler has 267 career AAA PAs and 38 MLB PAs. We'll give Seigler a lot more time to adapt and prove himself, I would imagine. Similar to Collins, he may be an exceptionally cheap and effective pick-up in the end.

RF Handelfry Encarnacion (.832 OPS in ACL ball) makes his Low-A Carolina debut, as the first place Mudcats host Guardians’ affiliate Lynchburg. RHP Tyler Renz makes his 2nd appearance since promotion (3.2 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 5 BB, 6 Ks in 81 pitches last week). Hmmm. RHP Melvin Hernandez (2.04 ERA, 1.98 WHIP, 7.2 K/9 in 92.2 IP) has gotten the start instead.

SS Cooper Pratt (.679 OPS vs. league average .658) is right back in the AA Biloxi lineup after exiting Sunday’s game early, as they aim to snap a 5-game skid. RHP Brett Wichrowski (2.98 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, 6.8 K/9 in 63.1 IP) gets the start at Cubs’ affiliate Knoxville.

AAA Nashville welcomes previously-rehabbing CF Steward Berroa (.703 OPS in AAA) and newly-promoted 3B Ethan Murray (.823 OPS in AA) to its lineup. They host Marlins’ affiliate Jacksonville this week, with RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez is ramping up to full capacity post-injury (3.2 IP, 0 R, 3 Ks on 74 pitches last week).

Just from a roster decimation standpoint, I figured Biloxi needed a first basemen (hence Burke’s mid-week call-up) and a starting pitcher. I was hoping young Manuel Rodriguez would get the call, though I wouldn’t have said any of Wisconsin’s starters are truly ready for the bump-up. Hopefully Murray’s move to AAA signifies that Pratt is healthy and Boeve may actually play in the field.

Doesn’t seem so, since they’ve listed out about 11 MILB transactions already. Maybe Adamczewski will play a bunch of shortstop the remainder of the Low-A season. Call it “The Areinamo Treatment”.

From what I can tell, DSL Brewers Blue (23-21) is 1.5 games out of a wild card spot (last spot presently held by Pirates Black - who also lead today’s suspended game 5-3) and DSL Brewers Gold (21-23) is 1.5 games out of first place in its division (behind Pirates Gold).

DSL Brewers Gold were out-hit 15-11, but went 6-for-13 with runners in scoring position to grab a 10-9 home victory over DSL Rojos. Trailing 8-2 halfway through the 6th inning, the Golden Men put across 4 runs in each of the 6th and 7th innings to grab a 10-8 advantage. C Isais Chavez (3-for-3, double, 2 walks, 2 RBIs) walked to spark the 6th inning rally, then doubled in a run the following inning to cut the deficit to 8-7. He scored on a balk for a 9-8 lead. LF Alexander Frias (3-for-5, RBI) and DH Nicholas Barrios (2-for-3, triple, sac fly, 2 RBIs, SB) also had big days.

Crazy DSL Blue 15-5 victory, combining with Red Sox Red for 17 hits (8 for Blue), 26 walks (16 for Blue), 5 HBPs (4 for Blue). CF Brailyn Antunez (3-for-5, walk, 5 RBIs, 2 SBs) smacked his first professional homer, of the 3-run variety in the 8th inning. Blue went 9-for-9 on stolen base attempts, including 3 by RF Carlos Done (2-for-5, walk, HBP, 2 RBIs).

Per @ARobsBrewCrew in another thread yesterday: “Unfortunately, Adams’ shoulder hasn’t progressed as hoped since his collision back in June. I spoke with him today and he is still unsure how long he will be out. It seems as though his season might be in jeopardy.”

We can only wonder how many innings he might have thrown if the game went to extras. Didn’t even go to first base after taking ball 4…hobbled to the dugout instead” As to the rest of the game, which commenced with a 1-hour, 27-minute rain delay, RHP KC Hunt (3 IP, 5 R, 3 H, 3 BB, 3 Ks) was unable to build on his last 2 excellent starts, conceding homers in each of his 3 innings of work on Sunday. Down 5-1 by that point, 3B/SS Ethan Murray and C Matt Wood responded with back-to-back hits to open the 4th inning, both scoring on groundouts to make it a 5-3 game. Unfortunately, two 2-out hits off in the bottom of the 4th inning off of RHP Abdiel Mendoza enabled the Blue Wahoos to open up their largest lead at 8-3. Three consecutive Shuckers’ hits and a wild pitch to open the 6th inning should have produced more than 1 run, but that’s all we got, as 1B Blake Burke was thrown out on the bases and 2 strikeouts stranded a baserunner at 3rd. Shuckers’ Extras: Kudos to LHP Brian Fitzpatrick for 2 innings of scoreless relief work and 2 Ks, lowering his season ERA in AA to 2.11. The recently-promoted Burke had a 2-for-4 game and collected his first RBI at the AA level. Given the ascension of Made and Pena to High-A Wisconsin and Pratt’s Sunday injury, don’t be surprised if long-time farm-hand Eduardo Garcia receives a deserved promotion from Wisconsin to Biloxi, assuming he makes a quick recovery from the Saturday foul ball off his foot. Next week’s outlook: Biloxi (14-19 in the second half) stays on the road, heading over to face Cubs’ affiliate Knoxville (16-16) for 6 games. Wisconsin had two of their own baserunners thrown out in the 2nd inning (OF Yhoswar Garcia attempting to extend a single) and 3rd inning (OF Kay-Lan Nicasia caught stealing), but respectable work by Gasser (2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 1 K – 16 pitches, 13 strikes) and RHP Ryan Birchard (2 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 3 BB, 1 WP, 4 Ks) kept them in the game. After some scary but effective work from RHP Patricio Aquino and LHP Anthony Flores (combined 4 IP, 1 R, 7 H, 1 BB, 2 HBP, 2 Ks), along with RHP Yerlin Rodriguez tossing one of his better innings of 2025 (K, K, groundout), rehabbing DH/OF Steward Berroa’s game-tying 8th inning double and Garcia’s 2-out 9th inning triple nearly sent 5,337 fans home happy. Instead, Garcia was stranded (Nicasia strikeout). From there, two fly outs were sufficient for Lake County to plate their Manfred Man, while Wisconsin unfortunately stranded theirs. Timber Rattlers’ Extras: Instead of having Berroa take a 5th plate appearance, Manager Estevez called on Hedbert Perez for the final at-bat of the game, lining out to center field on a 2-2 pitch. To his credit, Rodriguez has not allowed any earned runs over his last 9 1/3 IP, registering 14 strikeouts vs. 5 BB and 2 HBP. Berroa’s just 3-for-24 in his rehab stint, but appears headed with Gasser to Nashville (per the podcast). Next week’s outlook: The Timber Rattlers (11-25 in the second half) take their show on the road, down to Peoria, Illinois to play 6 games against the Cardinals’ affiliate (15-21). Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Rain Out: Carolina at Augusta Via the Mudcats’ website, rainout details: Mudcats Canceled Sunday Carolina will have to carry their 4-game losing streak into next week, though they still hold a 1 ½ game lead over Fredericksburg in the second half standings. This game with Augusta will not be rescheduled. Next week’s outlook: Carolina (20-13) comes home for a 6-game set against Guardians’ affiliate Lynchburg (13-21), with 18-year old RHP Tyler Renz (3.43 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 8.1 K/9 in 57 2/3 ACL/Low-A IP) the most likely starter for Tuesday’s series opener. It appears that Wisconsin will get at least 2 new bats by Tuesday:

While Nashville was 1 pitcher short in their 8-7 loss, Wisconsin was 1 batter short in their 2-1 extra inning defeat. Blayberg and rehabbing Berroa hit back-to-back doubles to tie the game in the bottom of the 8th. And Yhoswar hit a 2-out triple in the bottom of the 9th, but was stranded (Nicasia K). A sac fly plated Lake County’s Manfred Man in the 10th, but Wisconsin’s was stranded at 3rd.

Just needed one more pitcher available and that’s a series-tying win instead of an 8-7 loss. Oh well. Good for Daz. I’m guessing we’ll bump Abdiel Mendoza up to AAA by Tuesday for depth.
