  1. Gotta figure the pick-off error (charged to Kuehner, throwing to Eric at first), Pratt error (which scored a run) and pop-up misplay (by Eric at first, which should have ended the inning down only 2-0) sapped the rest of Kuehner's energy. He stayed in for 7 more batters (2 singles, 3 walks, 2 outs), ending up with 8 runs charged against him (3 earned).
  2. Through 2 innings, the Mudcats are 0-for-5 with 4 Ks with runners in scoring position. Oops. Gery Holguin doubled in that 2nd frame.
  3. An Adamczewski leadoff double goes for naught, as Made, Pena and Bitonti all go down swinging. Similarly, a Boeve 1-out single and stolen base lead to no runs for Biloxi in their top of the 1st inning.
  4. Low-A Carolina needs a victory at Augusta behind LHP Wande Torres (5.61 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, 9.4 K/9 in 59.1 IP) tonight to edge ahead 2 games to 1 in this week’s series. 2B Josh Adamczewski is hitting .333 with 2 HRs in 10 games since returning from injury. 1 - Adamczewski - 2B 2 - Made - DH 3 - Pena - SS 4 - Bitonti - 1B 5 - Anderson - CF 6 - Walling - RF 7 - Holguin - 3B 8 - Lameda - LF 9 - Walther - C X - Torres - P
  5. The High-A Timber Rattlers are tied 1-1 in this week’s home series against Lake County and have solid 19-year old RHP Manuel Rodriguez (1.76 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, 8.2 K/9 in 46 IP) starting tonight. DH Hedbert Perez leads the team in homers (14) and triples (3).
  6. Impressive LHP Tate Kuehner (2.39 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 9.9 K/9 in 94.1 IP) starts for AA Biloxi at Pensacola and Eric Martinez starts at first base for the first time since 2023. Zavier Warren gets a rare rest day and we await Matt Wood’s return (exited early Tuesday).
  7. Another old friend is on the move, this time 21-year old OF Brian Sanchez (.811 OPS in Low-A ball) to the Pirates in the David Bednar trade.
  8. A 7-nation army can’t stop old friend OF Hendry Mendez (putting up solid numbers for the 2nd straight year: .808 OPS with 40 BB / 44 K ratio) from going to Twins’ AA affiliate Wichita in the Harrison Bader trade.
  9. Silly me believing MILB.com’s initial transaction indicating that he’d been assigned to Bowling Green of the South Atlantic League. Of course, that log note has been entirely erased, so they can claim I’m crazy. 🤪
  10. I was worried that Jadher would be even more blocked in the Rays’ system (well, he wasn’t truly blocked in ours with Brown, Wilken, Adams and Boeve out the past 2+ weeks), but he DID get the bump up to AA Montgomery! They’ve got a middle infield of Gregory Barrios and Jadher Areinamo in their game tonight, their first pairing since July 2 last year with the Timber Rattlers.
  11. As expected, Nick Kahle notches the first extra-base hit of the game for either team to lead off the 6th inning.
  12. Two outfield assists at home for Garrett Spain in the same inning? That’s gotta be about as rare as winning PowerBall.
  13. Walling is 0 for his last 37. Just K’d to end the top of the 4th with 2 men on. Poor guy.
  14. Low-A Carolina RHP Travis Smith has an 11-inning scoreless streak and is ready to lead his team to a 2-0 series lead at Augusta. 1B Eric Bitonti’s 16 homers easily lead the Carolina League (second place has 10).
  15. After a comeback win at home over Lake County yesterday, High-A Wisconsin can take its first 2-0 series lead since May 28. RHP Jaron DeBerry is still trying to figure out this level (5.51 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, 9.2 K/9 in 49 IP). SS Eduardo Garcia had a big game last night (3-for-5, 2 RBIs, 2 SBs).
  16. RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez had a rude return from injury last week (3.1 IP, 7 R, 5 Ks) but aims to lead AAA Nashville to a 2-0 series lead at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. SS Freddy Zamora has the top AVG (.275) and OBP (.364) in tonight’s lineup.
  17. Mike Boeve (.686 OPS in 233 AA PAs) is back for Biloxi for his first action in 17 days, as they seek a 2-0 series lead at Pensacola. 22-year old RHP Brett Wichrowski (2.69 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, 7.0 K/9 in 60.1 IP) makes his 15th start.
  18. - RHP Easton McGee recalled to MLB Brewers from AAA Nashville - RHP Craig Yoho optioned to AAA Nashville from MLB Brewers
  19. - RHP Dikember Sanchez released by Low-A Carolina
  20. High-A Wisconsin is back home, hosting Guardians’ affiliate Lake County this week. Rehabbing Robert Gasser starts tonight after throwing 1 inning and 16 pitches on Wednesday. 19-year old Luiyin Alastre (.654 OPS in 269 High-A/ACL PAs) gets the start at second base, after the trade of Areinamo and Guilarte’s early exit on Sunday.
  21. The Low-A Mudcats trot out their full offensive arsenal (well, with Payne on the IL) as they aim to destroy Braves’ affiliate Augusta on the road. RHP Melvin Hernandez has a 1.01 ERA with 36 Ks over his last 44.2 IP. 18-year old 2B Luis Pena has the highest slugging % in the Carolina League (.484).
  22. AA Biloxi is at Marlins’ affiliate Pensacola this week, with RHP KC Hunt starting Game One on 4 days’ rest (6 IP, 1 R, 7 Ks on Thursday). 1B Zavier Warren (.713 OPS vs. league average .660) is 2nd in the Southern League with 58 RBIs.
  23. AAA Nashville plays at Yankees’ affiliate Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this week. LHP Bruce Zimmermann looks to continue his solid 7-game run (1.95 ERA with 24 Ks in last 37 IP). Hack-happy 3B Bobby Dalbec has a .771 OPS in his last 88 PAs with a crazy 2 BB / 36 K ratio.
  24. DSL Gold’s home game against DSL Orioles Orange was suspended in the top of the 5th inning as they were leading 1-0. I assume they’ll finish this game as part of a quasi-doubleheader on August 8 19-year old RHP Ruben Saldana can be proud of his effective start: 4 IP, 0 R, 4 H, 3 BB, 1 HBP, 5 Ks. LF Alexander Frias was 1-for-2 with a double, while DH Jonathan Rangel was 1-for-2 with a single. DSL Blue trailed the DSL Rays 5-1 in the bottom of the 4th inning when their game was suspended. They’re also likely to play a quasi-doubleheader to complete this game - on August 2 in their case. Starting 19-year old RHP Josue Toledo allowed 4 earned runs (3 IP, 5 R (4 ER), 7 H, 2 BB, 1 HBP, 3 Ks). 1B Joan Gutierrez (1-for-1) had collected a double and C Yoneiker Lugo (1-for-2) had an RBI single.
  25. For the week, Nashville, Biloxi and Carolina each won their series by a 4 games to 2 margin, while Wisconsin fell 2 games to 4. Transactions: C Jeferson Quero placed on AAA Nashville’s 7-day injured list OF Braylon Payne placed on Low-A Carolina’s 7-day injured list 1B/OF Tyler Black optioned to AAA Nashville from MLB Brewers RHP Tobias Myers optioned to AAA Nashville from MLB Brewers Game Action: Final: Nashville 3, Charlotte 2 (in 10 innings) Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Bobby Dalbec Walks Off Knights With Home Run in Extras While OF Jared Oliva (2-for-3, HR, walk, RBI, 2 SBs) and Bobby Dalbec (1-for-4, HR, walk, 2 RBIs) provided the big hits, Nashville’s comeback win was made possible by starting RHP Garrett Stallings stepping up with 6 solid innings (1 R, 4 H, 1 BB, 4 Ks). Making his 8th start of 2025, Stallings is the team’s Swiss Army knife, having pitched in relief in his last 2 outings (the latter being 1 2/3 IP just 4 days earlier). A 2019 draft pick of the Angels, he’s making a strong case to be an attractive Minor League free agent this fall: 2.63 ERA, 0.84 WHIP in 54 2/3 innings this year. Nashville’s bullpen was solid, with RHP Blake Holub (1 1/3 IP, 2 Ks), LHP Josh Maciejewski (1/3 IP), RHP Easton McGee (1 1/3 IP, 1 K) and RHP Justin Yeager (1 1/3 IP, 1 K) combining to deliver 4 innings with zero unearned runs. Sounds’ Extras: Both teams struggled with runners in scoring position, combining to go 3-for-20 while stranding 21 baserunners. DH Tyler Black went 1-for-5 in his return to the AAA level after a 3-game stint in the Show. Oliva’s 2 stolen bases boosted his team lead, as he now has 31 thefts in 2025. 2B Ray Delgado (1-for-3, walk, SB) remains on his heals, reaching 29 swipes. It was a relatively rough game for SS Freddy Zamora, who went 0-for-4 and committed the 10th inning error which gave Charlotte a temporary 2-1 lead in the top of the 10th inning. All other Sounds’ position players reached base via hit or walk. Next week’s outlook: Nashville heads to Pennsylvania to battle Yankees’ affiliate Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for six games commencing on Tuesday. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Rocket City 3, Biloxi 2 Box Score and Game Log Via the Shuckers’ website, game details: Shuckers Fall in Sunday Finale to Trash Pandas Despite a relatively depleted roster (23 active players, excluding 2 who haven’t played in weeks), Biloxi nearly completed a 5-1 home series victory over Rocket City, but were unfortunately done in by a 9th inning error and 2-run homer on the very next pitch. Making his second start of the week, RHP Alexander Cornielle buckled down after allowing an RBI double in the 1st inning to deliver an effective 4 innings: 1 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 1 HBP, 4 Ks. 1B Zavier Warren’s 4th inning single was the Shuckers’ first hit before C Darrien Miller (1-for-2, HR, 2 walks, RBI) jumped on the first pitch in the bottom of the 5th inning to knot things up. Although Cornielle, LHP Mark Manfredi (3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 1 K) and LHP Brian Fitzpatrick tossed 7 2/3 hitless innings from the last out of the 1st inning through the first out of the 9th inning, Biloxi’s offense could have helped them out by getting more out of a bases loaded, nobody out opportunity in the bottom of the 8th inning. Instead, Warren’s sacrifice fly produced their only run in that frame for a 2-1 lead before SS Cooper Pratt’s one-out error in the top of the 9th inning set the stage for the gut-wrenching 2-run shot off of Fitzpatrick (2 IP, 2 R (1 ER), 2 Ks; season ERA 2.12). Shuckers’ Extras: Pratt’s chance to go from goat to hero also faded as he flew out to end the game with 2 baserunners aboard. The promising prospect went 0-for-3 with 2 walks and a stolen base in the game. Next week’s outlook: Biloxi hits the road to take on Marlins’ affiliate Pensacola for 6 games, with RHP KC Hunt scheduled to start on 4 days’ rest in the series opener. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Quad Cities 8, Wisconsin 1 Box Score and Game Log Via the Timber Rattlers’ website, more game details: Rattler Road Trip Ends With Loss Throwing on 4 days’ rest LHP Sam Garcia (2 IP, 5 R (4 ER), 6 H, 1 BB, 1 K) was not able to follow up his solid Tuesday outing (5 IP, 0 R, 6 Ks in that one) as Quad Cities jumped out for 5 runs on 2 doubles and 3 singles in the bottom of the 1st inning. Wisconsin’s first hit didn’t come until 1B Blake Burke singled to lead off the 5th inning, with the team already trailing 7-0 by that point. Relievers LHP Jesus Broca (3 IP, 1 R, 1 K), LHP Anthony Flores (1 IP, 0 R, 2 Ks) and RHP Yerlin Rodriguez (1 IP, 0 R, 2 Ks) did their part to give the Timber Rattlers’ offense a chance in the back half of the game. Of course, Yerlin did add a hit-by-pitch and wild pitch to spice things up, as one of our Minor League Forum contributors wondered whether he’s the first 4-true outcome pitcher: BB, K, HBP, WP. Timber Rattlers’ Extras: OF Eduardo Garcia managed to produce the team’s only RBI, as the offense really struggled: 3-for-29 with 3 singles, 2 walks and 2 HBPs. Rehabbing Major Leaguer Steward Berroa (0-for-1, walk) probably did not enjoy wearing Wisconsin’s 2 hit-by-pitches, though thankfully he did not have to exit the game. Next week’s outlook: Wisconsin returns home from their 9-game road trip to host Guardians’ affiliate Lake County, with rehabbing LHP Robert Gasser expected to start the series opener on Tuesday. Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Carolina 4, Kannapolis 0 Box Score and Game Log Via the Mudcats’ website, game details: Mudcats Shutout Kannapolis to Claim Series A leadoff walk from DH Josh Adamczewski and singles from 2B Luis Pena and OF Jose Anderson helped build a quick 3-0 lead in the 1st inning, with those runs proving extremely valuable when starting RHP Jayden Dubanewicz (1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 0 Ks) exited with a trainer after warming up to attempt to pitch the 2nd inning. Pitching for the 3rd time in 8 days and forced into a longer relief role than expected, RHP Bryan Rivera stepped up with 4 terrific innings (0 R, 2 H – both singles, 2 BB, 2 Ks) to grab his 7th Win of 2025. After that 3-run, 2-hit first inning, Carolina only produced one more hit in the game, but it was critical one: Anderson’s 6th inning triple, later scoring on a sacrifice fly. Anderson went 2-for-4 in the game with 2 runs scored. Being out-hit 6-3 in the contest required Mudcats’ hurlers to notch some big outs with runners in scoring position, with Dubanewicz escaping a 2nd and 3rd, 1-out situation in the 1st inning (line out, ground out) and Dorchies stranding the bases loaded in the top of the 8th inning (pop out). Mudcats’ Extras: For his own 4 innings of scoreless relief work, 18-year old RHP Ethan Dorchies was credited with his 2nd Save in Low-A ball (after 2 saves in the Arizona Complex League). Dorchies conceded 3 singles and 2 walks, while striking out one batter. The end of the Arizona Complex League season and the MLB trade deadline typically coincide with promotions across the Minor League levels, so we’ll be watching the transaction wire to see whether players like Adamczewski (0-for-3, walk, run), Pena (1-for-4, run), Jesus Made (0-for-3, walk), etc. receive the bump-up to High-A Wisconsin. Next week’s outlook: Carolina heads down to South Carolina for six games against Braves’ affiliate Augusta. We hope that you enjoy the Minor League Link Report. On Monday, our Dominican Summer League squads are the sole Minor League affiliates in action, with DSL Brewers Blue (20-18) playing at DSL Rays (20-19) and DSL Brewers Gold (17-22) hosting DSL Orioles Orange (15-24) at 10:00am CST. The Milwaukee Brewers also host the Cubs at 6:40pm CST.
