  1. Ah. A big chance came and went for Biloxi in the top of the 7th inning. Miller doubled and Spain singled to chase the Pensacola starter with 1 out, but Jheremy Vargas hits into a GIDP. Biloxi still trails 1-0. Manfredi’s been rock solid in relied (2.1 IP, 0 R, 4 Ks).
  2. Bjorn Johnson navigated traffic for 3 innings before the wildness overcame him in the 6th inning (HBP, 2 BB, 2 WP). Bryan Rivera was called upon with the bases loaded and 1 out, then allowed the first 3 batters he faced to do damage. The 5-run frame puts Carolina down 8-2. Let’s thank Augusta for getting greedy with a caught stealing. But the grind continues: Kevin Garcia double, Josh Adamczewski homer. 8-4 in the 7th inning.
  3. Nate Peterson did well on a season-high 75 pitches for Biloxi: 4.2 IP, 1 R. Shuckers still trail 1-0. Boeve, Pratt and Wood due up in the 6th.
  4. Ne t’inquiete pas, mon ami. Eduardo Garcia has us covered:
  5. Thank God for bunting. Augusta wasted a 2-on, nobody out opportunity by popping up a bunt to Bjorn Johnson, then grounding into a double play. Augusta 3, Carolina 2. To the 4th inning they go.
  6. Oh boy. On the 12th pitch of his at-bat, old friend Jake Gatewood (playing SS?!) smacks a 3-run homer off Tobias Myers and the Sounds trail 4-1 early. Whoops.
  7. Bryce Meccage is out after just 2 innings and 37 pitches. Carolina conceded 3 runs on 3 hits, 1 BB and 1 HBP in the 2nd inning. Down 3-2 and Bjorn Johnson is in.
  8. Kevin Garcia delivers a 2-out RBI single in his first Low-A plate appearance, scoring Gery Holguin (walked) for a 1-0 Mudcats’ lead. And then Josh Adamczewski triples him home! 2-0 Carolina.
  9. 3 straight walks issued by Nate Peterson with 1 out in the bottom of the 1st inning. Gulp.
  10. 2 hits (Anderson, Di Turi) and a walk for Carolina in the 1st inning. No runs. T-Rod grounded into a double play. 1 hit (Lara), a walk and a stolen base for Biloxi in their 1st inning. No runs as well. C’mon guys! Sorry the promotion wheel didn’t turn as expected. I know you’re tired in Biloxi (depleted roster) and nervous at the other levels (draftees and non-draftees coming soon), but let’s get rocking!
  11. For Game 2 of their doubleheader at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, RHP Tobias Myers (3.32 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, 8.1 K/9 in 81.1 AAA/MLB IP) gets the start, while Jimmy Herron and Nick Kahle join the lineup. Nashville trails the series 2 games to 1.
  12. Jeez, I went for a run (moreso a “hobble”) and Nashville already dropped the first game: 23 batters, 2 singles (Daz, Dunn) 1 HBP (Daz), 1 CS (Daz), 10 Ks. Chad Patrick only allowed 1 earned run in 5.2 innings, but takes the Loss. The last 9 Sounds went down in order. Better turn things around in the night cap.
  13. High-A Wisconsin van grab a 3-1 home series lead over Lake County with a victory tonight behind RHP Tanner Gillis (1.99 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, 6.9 K/9 in 58.2 High-A/Low-A IP). DH Blake Burke (.292 AVG / .384 OBP / .408 SLG) delivered the walk-off hit yesterday.
  14. C Kevin Garcia (.740 OPS in 142 ACL PAs with 10 BB / 50 Ks) turned 18 years old 12 days ago and now makes his full season affiliate debut for Low-A Carolina, which needs RHP Bryce Meccage (4.14 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 8.8 K/9 in 67.1 IP) to be at his best to tie their series at Augusta.
  15. AA Biloxi has been outscored 14-3 in 12 innings since Zavier Warren exited early on Wednesday night, but at least C Matt Wood is back after HE exited early on Tuesday. LHP Nate Peterson (3.88 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, 7.6 K/9 in 55.2 IP) gets tonight’s start and Darrien Miller (.189 AVG / 378 OBP / .330 SLG) gets a turn at first base, as we try to even the series at Pensacola.
  16. The AAA Sounds play a doubleheader at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre tonight, with RHP Chad Patrick (3.50 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 9.3 K/9 in 110.2 MLB/AAA IP) aiming for a long start and Win in the opening 7-inning game. Free-swinging C Jorge Alfaro has a .943 OPS over his last 75 PAs, with 1 BB and 27 Ks.
  17. Transactions: SS Jorge Quintana traded to San Diego Padres from ACL Brewers with LHP Nestor Cortes and cash for OF Brandon Lockridge of AAA El Paso RHP Travis Smith promoted to High-A Wisconsin from Low-A Carolina C Kevin Garcia promoted to Low-A Carolina from ACL Brewers C Eric Haase outrighted to AAA Nashville from MLB Brewers RHP Bryan Regalado activated by DSL Brewers Gold from Restricted List Game Action: Rain Out: Nashville at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Friday’s outlook: RHPs Chad Patrick (3.50 ERA in MLB/AAA) and Tobias Myers (3.32 ERA in AAA/MLB) are expected to start Nashville’s doubleheader as the team seeks a 3-1 series lead on the road. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Pensacola 9, Biloxi 3 Box Score and Game Log Via the Shuckers’ website, game details and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Shuckers Fall to Blue Wahoos in July Finale A night after OF Garrett Spain dazzled with 3 outfield assists, the team had perhaps its worst defensive inning of 2025, with an infield single, 2 errors and a misplayed pop-up contributing to 5 unearned runs coming across in the 2nd inning against normally-reliable LHP Tate Kuehner (2 1/3 IP, 8 R (3 ER), 6 H, 4 BB, 1 HBP, 4 Ks; season ERA 2.61). With Zavier Warren getting his first rest day since April 16 and Mike Boeve limited to DHing, Manager Joe Ayrault had unenviable choices to play first base, opting to go with catcher Eric Martinez (0-for-2, walk, HBP, run), who was unfortunately involved in two of the three mistakes in the field in that rough inning (pick-off error on Kuehner, pop-up which plated 2 runs for a 4-0 deficit). The bullpen was quite effective, highlighted by RHP Zach Peek (2 2/3 IP, 0 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 5 Ks) navigating traffic with key strikeouts and a caught stealing by Miller, LHP Brian Fitzpatrick (2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 3 Ks; season ERA 1.99) retiring all 6 batters faced. Down 8-0 by the 3rd inning, Biloxi managed to cut the deficit to 9-3 and load the bases with nobody out in the top of the 9th inning, but stranded those men via a strike out and two fly outs. Shuckers’ Extras: Offensively, Boeve notched a double, single and stolen base, while each of C Darrien Miller (1-for-1, 2 walks, HBP), 2B Jheremy Vargas (2-for-4, RBI) and OF Luis Lara (1-for-3, 2 walks, RBI) had solid days. Manager Ayrault joined Kuehner in leaving the game early, going via the ejection route while trailing 8-0 in the 4th inning. We’re patiently awaiting word on the availability of C Matt Wood, who hasn’t played since exiting Tuesday’s game early. Friday’s outlook: LHP Nate Peterson (3.88 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, 7.6 K/9 in 55 2/3 IP) is the most likely candidate to start, with Biloxi needing a victory at Pensacola to even this week’s series at two games apiece. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Wisconsin 5, Lake County 4 (in 10 innings) Box Score and Game Log Via the Timber Rattlers’ website, more game details: Tenth-Inning Comeback Gets Wisconsin a Win Wisconsin’s fabulous media team has put together video highlights of their exciting victory: And don’t miss the 33-minute Mehring/Lobner post-game podcast, featuring 1B Blake Burke, RHP Aaron Rund and Manager Victor Estevez. As you’ve seen, read and heard, starting RHP Manuel Rodriguez (6 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 4 Ks) allowed only 2 of 20 Captains to reach base as Wisconsin built a 3-1 lead, before SS Eduardo Garcia (3-for-5, RBI) and Burke snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in the 10th inning. Garcia also singled to lead off the 1st and 4th innings, the latter spurring Wisconsin’s 3-run rally, with OF Kay-Lan Nicasia (2-for-4, RBI) and Andrick Nava registering RBI singles. Timber Rattlers’ Extras: Two Lake County infield singles to lead off the 7th inning put LHP Jesus Broca in a jam, immediately compounded by an RBI double and walk to make it a 3-2 game with the bases loaded and nobody out. From there, Broca did well to limit the damage to a game-tying sacrifice fly, pop-out and fly out. Broca, Rund (1 2/3 IP, 0 R, 2 Ks) and RHP Patricio Aquino recorded the final 12 outs without allowing a hit. Friday’s outlook: RHP Tanner Gillis (1.99 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, 6.9 K/9 in High-A/Low-A 58 2/3 IP) gets the chance to boost Wisconsin to a 3-1 series lead. Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Augusta 3, Carolina 0 Box Score and Game Log Via the Mudcats’ website, game details: Mudcats Shutout at Augusta The stranding of 2B Josh Adamczewski (1-for-3, walk) after his leadoff double in the 1st inning (due to 3 consecutive strikeouts) was unfortunately a sign of things to come, as Carolina went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position over the first 5 innings of the game, stranding 8 baserunners in that span. Though he took the loss to drop to a 1-7 record on the 2025 campaign, LHP Wande Torres turned in one of his best outings, allowing only 4 singles and 0 walks (5 IP, 1 R, 1 HBP, 4 Ks). Down just 1-0 entering the 6th inning, the Mudcats offense took the rest of the night off, with their final 12 batters going down in order. Mudcats’ Extras: 3B Gery Holguin (2nd inning double) and SS Luis Pena (5th inning single) had 2 of Carolina’s 3 hits on the night. The team went down via strikeout 16 times in the game, with every position player notching at least one except for Adamczewski. RHP Griffin Tobias covered the final 3 innings in 67 pitches (2 R, 6 H, 1 BB, 3 Ks). Friday’s outlook: RHP Bryce Meccage (4.14 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 8.8 K/9 in 67 1/3 IP) gets the call to lead Carolina to a series-tying victory. Final: DSL LAD Mega 5, DSL Brewer Blue 4 Box Score and Game Log The Blue Men rallied from a 4-0 deficit via a 4-run 8th inning before losing on a walk-off homer in the bottom of the 9th inning, falling to a record of 21-20. C Johanderson Tarazona’s 2-run double tied the contest 4-4 and represented the Blue team’s only extra-base hit. Tarazona went 1-for-2 with 2 walks to lead the offense and also notched a caught stealing to end LAD Mega’s 2-run 2nd inning. Although RHP Brailin Aguirrez (3 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 1 BB, 2 HBP, 2 Ks) got the start, RHP Carlos Galindo did more of the heavy lifting, only allowing 3 baserunners over 5 innings of work (3 R (2 ER), 3 H, 0 BB; season ERA 3.63). Unfortunately, he also allowed the homer to take the Loss. Final: DSL Brewers Gold 2, DSL Rojos 1 Box Score and Game Log Starting 17-year old RHP Gustavo Garcia (5 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 3 Ks; season ERA 4.04) and 18-year old RHP Derlin Garcia (4 IP, 1 R, 4 H, 1 BB, 4 Ks; season ERA 0.73) stifled the opposition to lift Gold’s season record to 18-23. 3B Juan Martinez (2-for-4, SB, 2 runs) was the ignitor for Gold’s offense, singling and scoring to lead off the 4th inning for a 1-0 lead and doubling and scoring to lead off the 6th inning to restore the advantage to 2-1. That lead looked in doubt when Rojos doubled to lead off the top of the 9th inning, but 2B Romano Donato gunned down that baserunner at home for the 2nd out of the frame before Derlin Garcia ended the game via pop out. 19. Gotta figure the pick-off error (charged to Kuehner, throwing to Eric at first), Pratt error (which scored a run) and pop-up misplay (by Eric at first, which should have ended the inning down only 2-0) sapped the rest of Kuehner's energy. He stayed in for 7 more batters (2 singles, 3 walks, 2 outs), ending up with 8 runs charged against him (3 earned).
  20. Through 2 innings, the Mudcats are 0-for-5 with 4 Ks with runners in scoring position. Oops. Gery Holguin doubled in that 2nd frame.
  21. An Adamczewski leadoff double goes for naught, as Made, Pena and Bitonti all go down swinging. Similarly, a Boeve 1-out single and stolen base lead to no runs for Biloxi in their top of the 1st inning.
  22. Low-A Carolina needs a victory at Augusta behind LHP Wande Torres (5.61 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, 9.4 K/9 in 59.1 IP) tonight to edge ahead 2 games to 1 in this week’s series. 2B Josh Adamczewski is hitting .333 with 2 HRs in 10 games since returning from injury. 1 - Adamczewski - 2B 2 - Made - DH 3 - Pena - SS 4 - Bitonti - 1B 5 - Anderson - CF 6 - Walling - RF 7 - Holguin - 3B 8 - Lameda - LF 9 - Walther - C X - Torres - P
  23. The High-A Timber Rattlers are tied 1-1 in this week’s home series against Lake County and have solid 19-year old RHP Manuel Rodriguez (1.76 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, 8.2 K/9 in 46 IP) starting tonight. DH Hedbert Perez leads the team in homers (14) and triples (3).
  24. Impressive LHP Tate Kuehner (2.39 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 9.9 K/9 in 94.1 IP) starts for AA Biloxi at Pensacola and Eric Martinez starts at first base for the first time since 2023. Zavier Warren gets a rare rest day and we await Matt Wood’s return (exited early Tuesday).
  25. Another old friend is on the move, this time 21-year old OF Brian Sanchez (.811 OPS in Low-A ball) to the Pirates in the David Bednar trade.
