2. Eric Lauer makes his Nashville debut as they go for their third straight win:
3. Double downer: on the same day that the Brewers fell to a losing overall record (21-22), our affiliates' combined record also dropped into negative territory (27-28).
4. The Shuckers game against the Smokies starts in 35 minutes: 1 - Lutz - RF 2 - Turang - SS 3 - Westbrook - 3B 4 - Castro - 1B 5 - Palma - LF 6 - Erceg - DH 7 - Henry - C 8 - Aguilar - CF 9 - Devanney - 2B X - Crawford - P
5. The Nashville Sounds seek a second straight victory over Orlando Arcia, Jonathan Lucroy and the Gwinnett Stripers:

8. I accepted that the first two months of the season would be difficult based on the schedule. And this has obviously been compounded with all the injuries, so I should be happy that we're treading water at .500 (21-21 record). However, I don't understand how we could pair our Pitching and Defense with an offense that K's 10 times per game, about the highest rate in the National League. With this high-quality starting pitching, I'd think we'd just want to have a contact-heavy offense - a bunch of light hitters who you can count on to reliably keep the ball in play, putting the pressure on the opposing pitcher and defense anytime we happen to get a runner in scoring position. I can't imagine that an offense like that would even need to cost much. That said, the NL offense with the lowest rate of K's/game (Padres at 7.9) just struck out 11 times yesterday, so perhaps my theory is easier to imagine than to implement.
9. The Shuckers look to extend their winning streak, now taking on the Tennessee Smokies: 1 - Lutz - CF 2 - Turang - SS 3 - Westbrook - DH 4 - Castro - 1B 5 - Spanberger - RF 6 - Henry - C 7 - Erceg - 3B 8 - Friis - 2B 9 - Longo - LF X - Zavolas - P
10. The Nashville Sounds are back in action, with 22-year old Aaron Ashby throwing to 22-year old Mario Feliciano:
11. MLB.com #30 pipeline prospect Abner Uribe gets his first start of 2021, while the Mudcats also welcome Andre Nnebe and Daniel Castillo to the active roster:
12. From their website roster, it appears that our Low-A Mudcats have made three moves: - OF Micah Bello to the 7-day injured list - OF Andre Nnebe to the Active roster (23-year old, 28th round 2019 pick who had an .888 OPS in 2019 at AZL Brewers Blue) - IF Daniel Castillo to the Active roster (20-year old, perhaps filling in for IF Freddy Zamora, who's been on our injury-watch for a few days)
13. The Timber Rattlers start their 6-game series against the West Michigan Whitecaps tonight:
14. Nice to see the Timber Rattlers scrape and claw their way to a win (2-out game-tying hit by Dillard in the 9th, winning hit by Ward, Chirino locked down the save). Also good to see the Shuckers finally hitting. Who knew David Fry could play so many positions? Thank God the Brew Crew held on as well.

19. 20. 2019 first-round pick Ethan Small looks for a bounce-back start for Biloxi: 1 - Lutz - CF 2 - Turang - SS 3 - Westbrook - 3B 4 - Spanberger - DH 5 - Palma - RF 6 - Aguilar - 1B 7 - Henry - C 8 - Devanney - 2B 9 - Longo - LF X - Small - P
