For the week, Nashville, Biloxi and Carolina each captured their series by a 4-2 margin, while Wisconsin (1-4) fell short Transactions: N/A Game Action: Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Nashville 1, Iowa 0 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Sounds Take Series with Shutout Win Starting RHP Tobias Myers spun 5 scoreless innings (0 R, 4 H – all singles, 0 BB, 1 HBP, 6 Ks) for his second straight solid start, although the main story through 6 innings was 37-year old Iowa starter Kenta Maeda’s no-hitter to that point. Myers consistently hit 94mph with his four-seam fastball, while the gun had him at 96.7mph and 96.8mph for two pitches in the 4th inning. RHP Sam McWilliams (1 1/3 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 2 Ks) conceded the game’s only extra-base hit – a double to open the 6th inning, ultimately escaping a 1st and 3rd situation with a swinging K. DH Jeferson Quero’s 2-out single in the bottom of the 8th inning was Nashville’s 2nd hit of the contest and put a runner on 3rd base for only the second time in the game, with Seigler following with his clutch full count RBI single: Sounds’ Extras: Kudos to LHP Tyler Jay and RHPs Easton McGee and Craig Yoho for their solid high leverage work (combined 2 2/3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 2 Ks). Per the linked game report, that’s Nashville’s MILB-leading 12th shutout win of 2025. Next week’s outlook: Nashville (44-29) heads 8.5 hours south to face Marlins’ affiliate Jacksonville (47-28) in a 6-game series starting on Tuesday. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Biloxi 3, Knoxville 2 Box Score and Game Log Via the Shuckers’ website, game details: Shuckers Record Most Wins in a Half Since 2015, Earn 5th Straight Home Series Win Back-to-back singles to open the game didn’t derail starting LHP Tate Kuehner (3 IP, 0 R, 4 H, 3 BB, 1 WP, 5 Ks), who escaped three major jams (2-on, nobody out 1st inning; 2-on, 2-out 2nd inning; bases loaded, nobody out 3rd inning) while throwing on 4 days’ rest: The teams combined to go 1-for-16 with runners in scoring position, with OF Garrett Spain’s RBI double constituting the sole hit with RISP for a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning: RHP Zach Peek (2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 2 Ks) impressed again to lead the stellar bullpen work, with SS Ethan Murray (impressive season OPS of .892) providing a valuable insurance run via his 4th inning solo homer: After RHP Ryan Middendorf allowed 2 runs in the 8th inning to narrow the lead to 3-2, it was up to RHP Will Childers to close it out, pitching his 3rd game in 5 days. Childers worked around a 1-out double, inducing a ground out and then a strikeout swinging on the 8th pitch of the game’s final at-bat to send 2,518 fans home happy: Shuckers’ Extras: Spain had a 2-for-3 evening with 2 doubles, while DH Cooper Pratt also doubled and stole a base. With Luke Adams and Brock Wilken out injured, Zavier Warren (1-for-3) played third base for the first time in 2025. Following Peek in the bullpen, LHP Brian Fitzpatrick and RHP Bo Bowman each delivered a scoreless inning. Peek (0 R with 8 Ks in last 7 IP), whom the Brewers signed in the Minor League portion of the Rule 5 draft in December, is set to become a Minor League free agent at season's end. His steady 2025 progress from prior injuries reminds me of a similar situation with former farmhand (and future Major Leaguer) Max Lazar in 2023. Next week’s outlook: Biloxi (42-27) hit the road, heading 4.5 hours northeast to take on Braves’ affiliate Columbus (26-40) for a 6-game set, with RHP Tyson Hardin (2.40 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 9.5 K/9 in 63 2/3 IP) expected to make his 2nd AA start on Tuesday. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes Final: West Michigan 5, Wisconsin 3 Box Score and Game Log Via the Timber Rattlers’ website, game details: Rattlers Fall in Road Trip Finale Starting RHP Jaron DeBerry was making his 3rd start in 11 days, so was understandably limited to 3 innings (1 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 4 Ks – 52 pitches), handing it over to the bullpen with a 3-1 lead behind the SS Jadher Areinamo and DH Hedbert Perez solo shots. The linked game report capably captures the Whitecaps’ comeback in the 5th inning (and the above Twitter/X highlights and so much more!) against RHP Bayden Root, aided by a tough luck HBP and bunt single. Timber Rattlers’ Extras: Crucial ground ball double plays limited the Timber Rattlers to one run in the 3rd inning and ended the 7th inning, with the team only producing one infield hit over the final 6 frames. Slugging C Marco Dinges exited after a 6th inning strikeout, so we’ll have to watch for his availability when Wisconsin plays again on Tuesday. Other than Areinamo (2-for-4), Luiyin Alastre was the only Wisconsin batter to reach base twice (HBP, infield single). Next week’s outlook: Wisconsin (34-34) returns home to battle Royals’ affiliate Quad Cities (41-28), with LHP Anthony Flores (4.22 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, 8.0 K/9 in 55 IP) scheduled to start Tuesday’s series opener. Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Carolina 6, Columbia 5 Box Score and Game Log Via the Mudcats’ website, game details: Ordonez Double Lifts Mudcats to Walk-off Win Sunday’s series finale in Zebulon was an entertaining one, with 6 lead changes, including 3 in the final 1 1/2 innings. Starting RHP Ethan Dorchies became the youngest pitcher (18 years, 243 days) to make a start in the 12-team Carolina League in 2025, retiring 9 of 11 batters in 3 impressive innings (1 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 6 Ks): After DH Gery Holguin tripled home 3B Filippo Di Turi in the 2nd inning, 1B Eric Bitonti doubled and scored in the 4th frame for the Mudcats’ first lead at 2-1. https://x.com/CarolinaMudcats/status/1936841250205995047 Two Columbia runs on 4 hits off RHP Jayden Dubanewicz (3 IP, 0 BB, 1 K) in the middle innings had Carolina in a bind until 2B Luis Pena legged out an infield hit with 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th inning, followed by Bitonti’s league leading 11th blast: Two walks, a double and sacrifice fly against LHP Bjorn Johnson gave the Fireflies the lead back at 5-4 in the top of the 9th inning and Carolina was down to its final out when OF Luis Lameda (1-for-3, double) drew a walk and C Edgardo Ordonez walked it off in a full count on the 8th pitch of his at-bat: Mudcats’ Extras: The Fireflies had 4 stolen bases to the Mudcats’ zero but ran themselves out of a chance for more runs in a failed steal of home attempt to end the top of the 9th inning. OF Jose Anderson, SS Jesus Made and OF Tyler Rodriguez weren’t able to get their bats going on this particular day (combined 0-for-12 with 9 Ks). Next week’s outlook: Carolina (39-28) takes a 5-hour drive north to Salisbury, Maryland to play 6 games against Orioles’ affiliate Delmarva (27-42), commencing on Tuesday. We hope that you enjoy the Minor League Link Report. On Monday, the DSL squads get things started at 10:00am CST (6-8 Blue host 5-9 LAD Bautista, 6-8 Gold play at 6-8 Orioles Orange), the Milwaukee Brewers host the Pirates at 6:40pm CST and the ACL Brewers (18-18) host the ACL Dodgers (19-18) at 8:00pm CST. Sun. 6/22 - Escape from West Michigan
Ro Mueller replied to Jim Goulart's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
The AA Shuckers get a 3rd and final chance to clinch this week’s home series over Knoxville, with LHP Tate Kuehner making his 2nd start of the week (4.2 IP, 4 R, 10 H, 0 BB, 1 HBP, 8 Ks on Tuesday). This is Zavier Warren’s first start at third base since September 2024. -

RHP Tobias Myers makes his 2nd start of the week (6 IP, 0 R, 2 Ks on Tuesday), as AAA Nashville shoots for a Sunday home victory to clinch a 4-2 series over Iowa. 1B Andrew Vaughn has an extra-base hit in 4 straight games, but has also hit into 3 GIDPs. -

The Mudcats can capture this week’s home series over Columbia with a Sunday win behind 18-year RHP Ethan Dorchies, who’s making his first Low-A start (2.2 IP, 2 R, 3 Ks in relief last week). OF Braylon Payne is missing a 5th straight game. SS Jesus Made ranks high in the Carolina League (R - 5th, H - 7th, 2B - 3rd, RBI - 5th, SB - 6th, AVG - 7th, OBP - 10th). -

Jeez - it looks like Elvin and Jorge challenged the wrong pitch (2-2 pitch was a strike called a ball; then challenged full count correctly-called ball). That loaded the bases with 2 outs and the Sounds still leading 4-0. Sweet called for Elvis, who promptly got those bases cleared with a grand slam before then walking the next 3 batters. Then Hudson had to bail him out. The Sounds then loaded the bases via an error and 2 walks with 1 out in the bottom of the 6th, but failed to score (Dalbec force out, Black K). So now they’re on to the 7th inning, tied 4-4 despite outhitting Iowa 7-2 and stranding 10 LOB vs. Iowa’s 4. -

The AAA Sounds are tied 2-2 in this week’s home series against Iowa and need to support RHP Josh Maciejewski as he makes his 1st start (16th appearance) of 2025. 3B Bobby Dalbec has a 1.051 OPS in June (64 PAs). -

The High-A Timber Rattlers need a win behind RHP Ryan Birchard (4.01 ERP, 1..50 WHIP, 11.1 K/9 in 49.1 IP) tonight to even their series at West Michigan at 2 games apiece. No Blake Burke in the lineup? DH Marco Dinges has homered in 3 consecutive games. -

AA Biloxi gets a 2nd chance to clinch this week’s home series over Knoxville, this time behind RHP Brett Wichrowski, who’s coming off 2 rough starts (combined 5.2 IP, 10 R (1 ER), 9 H, 2 BB, 1 HBP, 4 Ks). SS Cooper Pratt has hit safely in 9 of his last 10 games. -

They don't like throwing pitchers 2 times in 3 days, so hoped Yeager could pitch 2 innings. Didn't work, thus forcing Childers and Bryant to throw. I still think Middendorf's 18 pitches were too few. The team needed more. Too bad Bryant had to walk the world and give up a grand slam over 34 pitches (14 strikes). -

Aw man. 4 walks in the bottom of the 9th for Biloxi, but we don’t score. Argh! I’m not sure who’s left to pitch extra innings. In retrospect, we probably needed more out of Middendorf. -

Biloxi’s hitters are playing with the sort of confidence we saw at Carolina early in the year. Ethan Murray doubled and scored in the 5th inning to cut the deficit to 4-3, then Bladimir Restituyo and Murray hit back-to-back doubles in the 7th to tie it. -

RHPs Melvin Hernandez (6 IP, 0 R, 4 H, 0 BB, 1 HBP, 8 Ks) and Jesus Flores (3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 3 Ks did not have trouble silencing the Columbia bats. This is a reminder that Hernandez is one of the four youngest pitchers in the 12-team Carolina League (so is Dorchies). A fortunate double play helped Hernandez escape the 3rd inning. Jose Anderson doubled and scored in the 4th inning and Eric Bitonti smacked a 9th inning 2-run homer. -

AAA Nashville have dropped 2 of 3 at home to Iowa and turn to LHP Bruce Zimmermann for a repeat of his last outing (4.2 IP, 0 R, 2 Ks). After a miserable 2 months (.550 OPS in 236 MLB/AAA PAs), 3B Oliver Dunn has a 5-game hitting streak. -

The AA Shuckers can clinch this week’s home series with a 4th straight win over Knoxville. 23-year old RHP Alexander Cornielle (2.51 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 8.3 K/9 in 57.1 IP) makes his 13th start and Ethan Murray (.843 OPS in 113 PAs) gets a start at third base with Wilken (resting?) and Adams (7-day IL) out of the lineup. -

High-A Wisconsin has also commenced its game at West Michigan, with the series tied at 1 game apiece. LHP Sam Garcia aims to bounce back from a tough last start (4 IP, 7 R (6 ER), 6 Ks). Despite his on-base streak being snapped yesterday, CF Eduardo Garcia still has a .953 OPS over his last 43 games (185 PAs).
