  1. Tough to win a series against left-handed hitting Lake County if you only have Manfredi available for one game and Molina (first appearance in High-A) as the only other LHP on the roster. Needed Brian Fitzpatrick. Good night all.
  2. Navarreto and Roller knocked in 3 runs as Nashville comes back to take a 4-3 lead in the 4th.
  3. Atta boy Lara! 2-run single with Pratt up to the dish next. Will Lara steal here?
  4. We’re 1-for-13 with RISP, with Yophery getting the only such hit. Down 6-2 after letting Hall bat (and K) then pinch hitting Chirinos for a fly out. Garcia hit by pitch for the 2nd time. Can Lara knock in some runs please?
  5. 6-2, 2 on, nobody out against a LHP. C’mon Tayden.
  6. Areinamo with another double. That’s why we needed Pratt or Adams to get on last inning by any means necessary with 2 base runners already on. Perhaps a tough lesson as Pratt swung for the fence and Adams swung at the first pitch.
  7. Nice to see Cruz eventually adapting to effective relief. It was not easy for him early in the year. Now that his role is more clear, I guess he’ll work to add velocity by next spring if possible.
  8. Really need Adams and Areinamo to come through here.
  9. The homer came after an injury time-out for the batter and pitch clock re-set which may have also thrown off Sanchez’s timing, with Wood showing the whole world that he wanted a high strike. Felt ominous and may have then ruined the whole frame from there. Wish Sanchez had just fired a ball intentionally to let the weird moment pass.
  10. Maybe Manfredi’s not available, but that seems odd as he’s been pitching every 3-4 days with regularity. Dang it
  11. You’d think someone might whisper to the announcer that Birchard is a RHP and definitely NOT the lefty struggling on the mound. Although I guess it would explain the struggles…
  12. With so many left-handed hitters in the Lake County lineup, I’m hoping LHPs Molina and Manfredi can cover the next 4 innings or more if necessary.
  13. After going 0-for-5 with RISP and stranding 7 in a tough 2-1 loss in the first game of their doubleheader at Norfolk, AAA Nashville calls on RHP Taylor Clarke (4.71 ERA with 51 Ks in 65 IP) to handle Game 2. Campbell, Navarreto and Dorrian enter for Rodriguez, Mejia and Arroyo.
  14. Things are going poorly now. 3-up, 3-down in the 8th for our Timber Rattlers. Eduardo, Tayden and Jheremy are due up in the 9th, trailing at least 4-2. Biloxi got O’Rae (walk) and Miller (error) aboard to start the bottom of the 1st, but a Wilken K and Martinez GIDP left there with nothing except their 5-0 deficit.
  15. Another walk, double (+ error) and single boosted Montgomery to a 5-0 first inning lead. Tough start for Kuehner obviously. Time for Biloxi to start chipping away.
  16. Considering Lake County’s Matt Wilkinson came in with a 1.90 ERA with 174 Ks in 118.2 IP, I think Wisconsin did well to knock in 2 runs (almost 3 - they dunned down Areinamo at home) on 7 hits off of him. However, he got through 6.2 innings and Wisconsin trails 4-2 with only 2 innings left to stage a comeback.
  17. Four batters in and Montgomery has a 3-0 lead on a walk, base hit and 3-run shot. Oh my.
  18. Was Areinamo out by a lot on that play at home to end the top of the 5th inning? This game needs more runs or Joseph will have to become an assistant coach next year (stop Cornielle at 68 pitches, I command you!).
  19. This isn’t exactly star power, but we may be thinking: - Hedbert Perez - missed most of season - Eduardo Garcia - outfield time - Mike Boeve or Kay-Lan Nicasia (if either is healthy) I still can’t believe we sent 7th year, low-K, high-usage Joseph Hernandez as our starting pitcher last year. Weird. For pitchers, I’ll guess: - Brian Fitzpatrick (if healthy) or Mark Manfredi - Tyler Bryant - Chase Costello - Jake Polancic (if healthy)
  20. AA Biloxi (66-69) kicks off its Best-of-3 Division Series at home against formidable Montgomery (80-57), with 23-year old LHP Tate Kuehner (3.19 ERA with 115 Ks in 104.1 IP) starting on 4 days’ rest for the first time this season. 1B Ernesto Martinez Jr.’s 832 OPS placed him 3rd in the 8-team Southern League (min. 250 PAs).
  21. The High-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers can clinch their first Midwest League title since 2012 tonight at Lake County, in Game 2 of their Best-of-3 Championship Series. 23-year old RHP Alexander Cornielle (2.55 ERA with 25 Ks in last 17.2 IP) and Game 1 hero SS Cooper Pratt slots in at his usual second spot in the lineup.
  22. - INF Owen Miller of AAA Nashville placed on the temporarily inactive list
