  1. I was expecting American Family Mutual Insurance Company Field.
  2. This contract will age like a jug of milk left out in the sun.
  3. And now Kris Bryant will be traded to the Braves.
  4. To get Gerrit Cole, the Astros traded: Colin Moran - 1st round pick Joe Musgrove - 1st round pick plus others To get Justin Verlander, the Astros traded: Daz Cameron - 1st round pick plus others To get Zack Greinke, the Astros traded: Seth Beer - 1st round pick J.B. Bukauskas - 1st round pick Corbin Martin - 2nd round pick plus others Draft picks don't have to see the field to be valuable. I won't mention all the 1st rounders they have starting in the field (4) since the picks they are losing won't be as high in the order as those guys. So to say they can "buy" players is odd given they have signed exactly zero big ticket free agents in this current window (unless you are counting Gurriel and Reddick) https://blogs.fangraphs.com/how-they-were-acquired-the-houston-astros-alds-roster/ Well said. And to add to it, three of their eight starting position players (all All-Stars), were drafted in the first round by the Astros: George Springer -2011 Carlos Correa - 2012 Alex Bregman - 2015
  5. ... and you are acting like you know more than Stearns and the acquisition team. Both seem like extreme stances, no? That's an odd criticism. By that logic no one should post any opinions contrary to decisions that DS has made.
  6. There are reasonable options between Anthony Rendon and the -0.5 WAR Jerkstore (in just 101 PA's). How many are better than his 2016-2018 self when he wasn't hurt? He put up 6.3 WAR according to fangraphs those years and was a positive grade as a defender at 3b. He put up more WAR at 27-29 than Moose did in roughly the same ABs. How many guys match that and cost 2 mil? You just wanna be mad. Honestly, I don't get how teams are this stupid. Guy lost a year due to injury and now you've written him off? Yet Moose, because he didn't lose a year to injury is worth 16/4? That's a huge difference based on what have you done for me lately. People act like Jerkstore's injuries from 2019 will magically go away. He had a back injury, calf injury, and a wrist injury. He needed surgery on the wrist. For 2020, I'm taking the under compared to his 2016-18 WAR. In fact, I'll take the way under. I think he will be off the roster by the trade deadline. That said, I'd love to be wrong.

  8. He had a wrist injury, back injury, and calf injury. He had surgery on his wrist. You can look at 2019 and say, "He's healthy now--he should rebound." Or you can look at 2019 and say, "This guy is on the wrong side of 30 and he's falling apart." I think it's a wasteful signing but I'll be happy to eat crow if Jerkstore provides good value for the Brewers in 2020.

  10. To a team like the Brewers I think that's real money. I would be fine with this as a minor league deal but guaranteeing 2 mil is dumb.

  14. But without the 4 WAR upside.

  16. Looks like a .781 OPS would be average to slightly above average. MLB 3B 2017-19: I'll take the under on .781. No way do I think that's happening.

  18. And here's a pic of Mark A.

  20. Someone should start a "What 3B can we target at the deadline?" thread--since that's where we are headed with the Sogard/Jerkstore tandem at third. I'm very pissed off at the dumpster diving to fill the 3B hole left by Moose's departure.
  21. This deal stinks out loud. At least LoMo was a minor league deal.
  22. FWIW - He had a 1.009 OPS in AAA last year in 61 games.
  23. I think it's the opposite. Out of respect to a veteran and everything he went through, Brewers let him go early instead of letting him hang around then likely cut him in April where he may have to scramble for a job. This way he had plenty of time to find the right spot. A prove it year in a pitchers park is a great fit for him. Jimmy Nelson would have a much better chance to crack the Brewers active roster than the Dodgers. The Dodgers, as usual, have a deep pitching staff. Even if healthy, I don't see Nelson making their active roster out of spring training.
  24. Maybe he'll end up back in Milwaukee after the Dodgers release him.
